New oils don't have protection for large old engines
Old Ford 460 V8 needs this stuff. Still going strong at 200K plus

Must have additive for flat tappet engines
Oil doesn't contain the zinc levels it once had and while flat tappet engines aren't a common thing any more they still exist and are still produced. In order to avoid costly repairs and prolong the life of your engine you need zinc in your oil for a flat tappet engine. I keep this stuff on hand for my oil changes as both of my vehicles are flat tappet.
