A Nifty Bit of Kit. :)
This is an extremely nifty bit of kit. :) Firstly, It does the job very efficiently - I have been using my computer on it for several hours now, and it's barely even warm, whereas normally it would be worryingly hot by now. Secondly, it's unobtrusive. The other devices I have seen that are intended to do this job have a supportive limb that sticks out at the back, looking very odd and taking up a good deal more space. This just fits neatly under the computer. Thirdly, it's easily portable, as it is not only quite light, but also folds down to something that will easily fit into a computer carry bag. And finally, it puts the keyboard at a comfortable angle to type on. :) The only thing I can see which might be viewed as a drawback is that it is not adjustable. But as it works so very well at this angle and makes the keyboard so comfortable to use, I don't see this as a problem. I am very, very pleased with this purchase. :) Just one additional note - the main picture on this page shows the stand being used upside down, which I think must account for the handful of low reviews which said that the stand wobbled or that the computer slipped off it. When you use it the other way up, it's perfectly stable, and the computer can't slip off because the little tabs (which look like feet in the picture) hold it in place. :)

Minimalist design which just works.
Initial Impresssions ------------------------- Tiny box. On opening, the item itself is folded up in a nice easily transportable form. Before unfolding i initally thought i had only been sent one piece of the unit. After unfolding it i thought the unit was very small and flimsy and the two non extendable legs were too thin and wondered what i paid £19.99 for. Impressions after a few days of use. ------------------------------------------------- Stronger than it looks. Mine has a 15.6 inch laptop with a 9 cell battery sitting on it and my meaty fingers banging away at the keyboard and it hasn't budged. Does a fabulous job of cooling. The hard drive in this laptop would regularly reach 50 Centigrade, triggering an alarm in my hard drive monitoring software. Now the max temp it reaches is 43 centigrade. What i first thought of as flimsy design, i now believe to be clever engineering. The two non extendable legs seem to be thin to allow the unit to flex so that all four feet of the unit provide support even if the surface it's resting on isn't totally flat (eg. some of those flimsy lap desks which bend). My latop is rock solid on this stand. I tend to forget it's there until i suddenly realise that i haven't got an overheating alarm for days. My current impression is that like most good designs, it's simplicity disguises the fact that someone seems to have put a lot of thought and effort into creating something which just works. £19.99 felt expensive when i first saw the unit but now, having seen the end result of using this, i am extremely happy with my purchase and would recommend to anyone with laptop overheating problems. You could easily pay more than this to get a usb powered lap desk with fans, which isn't necessarily going to have the fans situated at the parts of your laptop that require cooling and so may not produce as good a result as this unit,

Good, but one annoying flaw
Good device which works as intended. It can be folded into a very compact form, around 15cm long. Great for carrying around uni in a bag! It holds my retina Macbook Pro 13" in a comfortable position for typing and will help keep it aerated as the fans are kept a solid 1-2 inches off a flat surface. So why have I docked a star? The laptop is propped up at the back by a pair of stands, one on each side. To keep the laptop from slipping towards the user, there are little plastic pieces at the front which jut upwards, holding the laptop in place (cradling it, essentially). Unfortunately, for the rMBP that I use, the depth of the laptop when open isn't sufficient to make full use of the upward jut of these clips. This means that they don't sit flush with the edge of the laptop. When resting your wrists on the palmrests, part of your hand is prodded by these stupid clips. I think I'm gonna take a saw to them and see if I can make them sit flush whilst still preventing the laptop from slipping. Will update here if I do that (and it works).

Great Stand Solid Engineering
Great stand with solid engineering possibly could be improved by locking the arms open, though not a problem if you don’t move your laptop around on your desk with the stand in place. This stand holds my large “desktop” laptops beautifully. I was replacing rather clunky cooling stands that raised the front of the keyboard nearly 2cm which made the typing position a bit uncomfortable these only raise the keyboard by 2mm (40mm at the rear). I had replaced the HDDs in these laptops with SSDs and found that the laptop fans hardly ever come on so decided active cooling was not needed. I had tried other stands but found they were too small for the larger 15 and 17 inch laptops; they also could block the laptop fans. I would recommend turning your laptop upside down to work out the best size to use bearing in mind what is on the underside to avoid existing rear rubber/silicone feet unless they are wide enough to take the feet of this stand without them being liable to slip off. In my case I set the width so that they would fit just inside the existing rear feet. The rear arms of the stand are adjustable and at their deepest they are nearly 26cm (from front to back with a rear span of 31cm) at their shallowest they are 21cm (from front to back with a rear span of 21cm). The front arms are a constant span of about 20cm they are low profile raising the laptop by an almost imperceptible 2mm (the rear arms raise the laptop by 4cm). An advantage these have over fixed stands is that they fold away and can be taken with you taking up very little space. A colour option on the front stops might be an idea as this is the only visible part of the stand, when in use. The stand is aluminium and light grey plastic, the light grey plastic on the front stops stand out against my gloss black laptops, but I have a black Sharpie M15 that will solve that little issue. I expect to keep these stands for many years. PS If you have a super slim laptop like a Surface Book or the new Yoga Book (barely 1cm thick when closed) the front stops may get in the way as they are about 12mm in height.

Well made, does the job, and looks cool
For something that's straight outta China (or is it Taiwan?), this thing is very nice quality. The whole thing folds away perfectly, and is incredibly light. You could take this travelling if you wanted, but that sort of defeats the point of a laptop. There are two bars of adjustable lengths, and the lengths can be set in place with a couple of rotating cuffs. The notches are also enumerated, which is hugely helpful for remembering settings which work well with certain sized laptops (1.5 is perfect for a 13 inch Macbook Pro). In terms of cooling, I've noticed the fan revving up much less. The slight angle this stand gives also makes a welcome difference, and it should be noted that the stand can be used both ways around, but I prefer using the bottom bracket as a 'cradle' as it feels more secure this way. The added versatility is a nice design touch however, so extra points for that. Perhaps most importantly, the stand looks cool, and fits in with a modern aesthetic, but I don't know a lot about this sort of thing so I'll stop there. TL;DR: Well made, does the job, and looks cool (probably).

Was dubious, but actually it's a great product
I wanted a stand with lots of clearance between the laptop and the surface it sits on to maximize airflow underneath. When I saw this stand I was worried it might be rather flimsy, not fit my laptop well, or slide off the boards I tend to place my laptop on... The product immediately seemed strong and easily adjustable, and fits my laptop well (mine is a 17" screen to give idea of size). The feet at the front of the stand support my laptop perfectly and it never seems to slip, though I am careful to not tip the laptop too much just in case. The clearance under my machine is great, a little more than 2 inches due to where the back feet of the stand sit, so will help cooling. The angle of the laptop is now also much more comfortable for my wrists, which wasn't a consideration when I bought the stand but is nice nonetheless. NB. The only thing I do wonder is whether much larger laptops would sit on the stand so well, my laptop at 17" is not by any means the largest out there, so something to consider maybe when buying for larger machines, though the stand has fairly decent adjustment...

Excellent product
Have just received this and felt compelled to get straight on to Amazon and write a review!. I trawled Amazon for a few hours to search for a stand, read all the reviews and decided on this one based on reviews from others, the small size and portability, but more importantly how it positioned the laptop. Having recently started a new position where a laptop was provided for home office I had noticed that my posture and neck positions left me aching at the end of an 8 hour day. An hour in and I can already feel I am sitting better and my head is at the right angle. The product is and does exactly as suggested and the laptop fits perfectly, is stable and does not move, surprising as it is such a simple design and takes less that a minute to open out and place the laptop. Highly recommend!!

Good, strong stand with passive cooling (no fan!) and great looks.
Good, strong stand with passive cooling (no fan!) and great looks This product is firstly compact, folding to easily fit in my 13" laptop bag, unlike the big raised stands you can buy. Secondly, it looks like it should go with a mac air or netbook, unlike cheap plastic stands. Furthermore it doesn't get in the way of your hands whilst typing, raising the key board a comfortable amount so your wrists are not bent upwards or arms left without support. That extra inch or so really help keep your neck and back straight for comfort. Whilst its perfect for my 13" Ultrabook, we've also tried it with a friends old 17" XPS brick and it worked just as well, expanding quickly and easily. This stand is for desks only as the four feet cant hold up on your lap or bed and there is no USB plugin but I guess the only time you'll need that is if you're gaming or modelling; both of which I'd suggest you do on a desk...
