Dog Dazer II Ultrasonic Dog Deterrent

I have a few training issues with my dogs that needed some intensive work. One is a rather frenetic barker at every thing that goes on outside whilst in the house, and barks with excitement when going for a walk, or to a show, etc. which I really need to curtail. The other is an entire male adolescent who is now starting to respond to concentrated testosterone levels from other dogs by posturing at dog shows! The Dazer certainly works on the barker! When she is barking, I quickly press the button whilst saying "Quiet!". By her reaction, a held tilt, pricked ears, and immediate silence, I know she has heard it. The Dazer breaks through her concentration better than my voice and any amount of shouting can. When she stops the bark, she receives immediate praise. I know the male can hear it, and again, I believe it will break his concentration - which is what you really want when trying to alter a negative behavior. I've not had the opportunity to use it in situ and for the behavior I am trying to curb because we have not been on the show circuit since taking delivery. But, I have every confidence it will do the job. I've seen other dogs who are near mine respond in different ways to the use when we are out. Some will give calming signals - turning head, licking lips, or turning away bodily, others will do the head tilt and inquisitive face. I've only ever used it once in a sustained way. That was on a dog who was attacking another. It had no effect on the attacking dog (compressed air broke the attack and sent her off tail between legs). But on some of the surrounding non combative dogs the Dazer actually had them dispersing. Based on what I have seen I don't think I would trust the Dazer as an infallible deterrent to an attacking dog - unless it is feral and not used to people. Even then I wouldn't trust it completely. But, as a training tool that for the most part breaks through the intense concentration of the behavior at the moment, it is brilliant. It gives you a chance to correct, and re-enforce with praise.

I bought it to use it when I go travelling in Thailand. To try it if it works, I took it with me and directed from my pocket to some dogs. I haven't seen any sign of annoyance from dogs at all. When I press it close to my ear, I hear the sound but it seems no effect on dogs!!! Seems it is waste of money. Correction! This is my review above, after trying in England I didn't use it at all until this year. I travelled to Turkey and took Dazer with me. There are several street dogs in where we travelled in Turkey. Mostly they are friendly but also came across some fierce ones. I kept Dazer in my hand and when I press the button they move away. It is great. I tried on dogs sleeping on the streets and as soon as I press they woke up and moved away from us. Very few didn't bother , may be they were deaf. Obviously it works and I take it when I travel abroad. Latest update! The one I used last winter was broken and I bought another one in may 2023. I took it with me when I went holiday in September. I used it just one day and the next day it didn’t work. I changed the battery but didn’t make any difference. It seems there is no return or warranty after 30 days of purchasing. Don’t bother to buy it , seems waste of money.

It seems works for larger dogs, but it has little or no effect on smaller dogs.

This product will only help your dog modify its barking behaviour if you are also prepared to put in the hard work. Firstly, you must be certain that it isn't your fault that the dog is barking. If you are out all day leaving your dog alone, then you need to change your behaviour or hire a doggy daycare facility. If your dog has got into the habit of barking inappropriately then this product can help as a very mild negative consequence if used within a second or two of the barking starting. You will also need to be ready with positive reinforcement as soon as your dog stops barking. AND you will need to keep it up. Basically all dog training is a form of conditioning and so you need to be ready and consistent; to be otherwise is simply not fair to your dog. In my case my dog is very protective of my cat and barks to tell him off if he goes out of the cat flap. I have the dazer ready so that I can give the command "Quietly" as soon as she set off for the door and I tap the button only if she begins to bark. If she doesn't or as soon as she stops she receives positive reinforcement. This is not a miracle device, it is a tool. If you understand this, it will work well. A quotation from my friend after my dog simply gave a little groan as the cat went out "Well, it works then!"

I live in an area with a lot of irresponsible dog owners. They constantly let their dogs off the lead, despite signs asking to keep them on leads. Unfortunately, i seem to be a magnet for all these dogs - running up right at me, and jumping up on me. Understandably, i do not want random, strange dogs, constantly running up very close to me, and jumping up at me - it feels very threatening to my safety. So, i decided to buy this product (nearly £50), and also buy a cheap imitator claiming to do the same thing (only £3), and conduct my own little experiment - as to which product seemed to work better. This product is definitely the best one, by far. Instead of having random, strange dogs take one look at me, and come running straight at me, and try to jump up - now, while using Dazer II, they still come running towards me, but STOP 1/2 metre away! This was very exciting and relieving for me - the first time it happened, and every single time it's happened since! Just delighted. Now, when pressing the Dazer II sturdy button, aiming in the direction of the dog - the approaching dog, stops nearby, and either stays there till i've passed, or the dog changes it's direction and goes past me, without any contact! What a joy! Since i've been using it, not a single dog has touched me, or brushed up against me, or run up and jumped at me! However, it seems to have a stronger effect on some dogs, and less on other dogs. Maybe this has to do with the dog's age and hearing ability? The only other slight drawback, is that when dogs are running towards you, zig-zagging, and changing direction (eg left to right) you have to swap hands quickly with the Dazer II - to use it in time, to work. To solve that problem, i shall be buying a second one - so i can have a Dazer II in each hand! There have also been a couple of dogs, who have visibly made a scrunched up face, and recoiled their heads, when the Dazer was used! Loved every second of that - for all the aggro i've had to put up these bad dogs with over the years harrassing me, before discovering this great product. Thank you Amazon for carrying this product!! In a perfect world, i would love to see dogs stop and physically run away in the opposite direction - but sadly the Dazer II is just not powerful enough for that. However, the Dazer II has consistently had a far greater and visible effect on dogs (compared to cheap imitator products), and is a far more discrete gray coloured product to have in your hand. Final verdict - totally worth £50, for the peace of mind, and relief, and feeling of safety you'll experience. If you are looking for a really great product, that has consistently worked in stopping random, strange dogs running up right at you, and jumping on you, buy the Dazer II - it's worth the extra money! Be sure to read and follow the instructions that come with it - for maximum benefit.

Only seems to work at less than 2 metres distance, and then only partially deters a dog, doubt if it would deter all dogs. I think the signal needs to be stronger to be an effective deterrent. It is rather bulky; a better design would be to disguised it as a smart phone, or as a small torch so that it can be hidden in a sleeve. It is rather expensive. Better than nothing.

We moved into a new house recently right next door to a nuisance rottweiller..absolute nightmare as dog was barking on/off all day until taken indoors by its owners at night. Apparently previously dog was barking throughout the night but pressure of complaints forced owner to take it indoors during the night. Otherwise, during the day, it barks at any movement or noise in the road or adjacent gardens. It barks at the postman, window cleaner, anyone daring to walk in the street, cars pulling up, front doors opening or shutting, even toilet flushing in adjacent houses or lights being turned on at dusk. Ignorant brainless owners use the poor thing for breeding but otherwise pen it & ignore it all day.. All neighbours in vicinity aware of the problem & not very happy as you might imagine. Otherwise a pleasant quiet road with considerate neighbours. Problem is the edge of estate backs onto less salubrious houses including the one owned by our friend with his rottweiller.. Nervous about buying this gadget as read negative reviews as well as positive. However, we were desperate for some relief as poor dog was driving us nuts..Dazer II arrived this morning & dog was barking as postman arrived & carried on barking when he left. Opened box noticed it already had a battery in it as red light went on when I pressed buitton. Went straight upstairs opened bedroom window, pointed dazer at very loudly barking dog & hey presto it immediately shut up & looked at me. Pressed dazer again & it disappeared like a shot into its kennel. Couldn't believe it. Nor could my wife who witnessed the whole thing. This was two hours ago. It started barking again about an hour ago but just me appearing at the window dazer in hand immediately shut the thing up again. Immediately. I didn't even have to press the dazer. I'm truly speechless & amazed. Despite my reservations this thing obviously works & works like a charm. To the doubters all I can say is that with my angry, bored & neglected rottweiller neighbour the dazer II is definitely the solution. From my own experience this thing is worth every single penny. Saves me complianing to the council environmental people..I was in process of keeping a daily barking diary in preparation for a formal investigation to be started. Quiet days I think are here again..thank goodness. If only they made something similar I could point at the brainless owners of this poor dog & train them with..I'd buy such a thing if I could. For the poor dog's sake.

Wow what a service! My Dazer II was despateched 3 hours after I placed my order and was delivered 36 hours later. It is of robust construction and comes with simple instructions which should be read before trying it out. The sensor, which ommits the sound, should not be touched but it does have a four pronged guard over it. I keep it in a pocket on its own so that no accidental damage can happen. It is not much bigger than a mobile phone so quite discrete in your hand. We have a problem with a neighbours dog who runs loose and barks and barks every time we go out of our door. The major problem is that he is fixated on 'going for' our dog when we pass - our dog is always on a lead. After a particularly scary incident we looked at deterrants to protect our dog and after reading many reviews decided on the DazerII as it was cheaper than a vets bill with good reviews. I've used it a few times now and it stops the next door dog in it's tracks and stops him barking. Hope this isn't beginners luck but I will update our usage. The only time it didn't work was when the dog got really close to me and was going towards our little dog with hackles up and teeth bared! I think he had got so close to our dog that he was determined to 'get him' regardless or I was in panic and didn't use the DazerII properly? I yelled and that sent him off but I was shaken by the experience. On the whole it works from quite a distance away. I press the button for 3 seconds repeating again and again if needed. I don't hold it down - do bursts as the instructions says. Although we didn't buy it for our dog we used it when kept barking at our old cat trying to get him to play. One click of the Dazer from about 4 meters stopped him. It caused him no fear or distress & he just stopped immediately. Peace for the cat! Not used it again on our own dog. If you come in contact with problem dogs then this gives you piece of mind and halting a dog in its tracks gives time to get more distance between you. Shame that the law isn't upheld - keep all dogs under control.
