Clips on trousers and is about the size of a thick mobile phone. Most effective in short bursts. Dogs may react in different ways some back off/run away or some stay still but others can return aggressively. Best used as a last resort. Also works effectively on young inquisitive steers and nuisance cats . Nice to have one handy for protection and some sense of security. I thought all postworkers were issued with the device but I wouldn't do the job because of the risk of dog attack.
