Had it for about a month. Very nice, light, clear display watch. Quality strap. One annoying feature: must reset date to 01 at the beginning of every month and before noon too. If it lives up to expectation of Swiss quality, then in the long term it's definitely a good value for money.

The Mondaine Big Date is a design classic. Simple, elegant, functional - easy to read and highly accurate with a Swiss quartz movement. The leather strap is soft and comfortable, the details, such as the red crown and boxy lugs, are lovely. However, very annoyingly, the date goes from 1... 2... 3... etc. to 29... 30... 31... 32... 33... all the way up to 39 and then cycling to 00. So, after the end of the month (28th/29th, 30th or 31st) you have to reset the date. Every month. Yes, every month! This is a "design feature" and documented in the Mondaine literature. It's very irritating when you buy a Swiss watch for watchmaking excellence. It's inordinately annoying to me. You might prefer a non-date version of the watch such as Mondaine Gents Analogue strap watch . I think I might have. A few things which I find surprising for watch at this price - it is not at all water resistant. Not 100m, not 50m, not 10m... probably not even shower resistant, which is a bare minimum. The back comes off with a simple lever action (i.e. it's not screwed in) and the watch is delivered running (it really should have the crown pulled out). It's a lovely looking watch, but it should be much better. Looks alone are not enough at this price.

The watch is very nice, and it is the best for being seen. So if you have problems with your vision it is perfect. Also it is very light and tough. It is a dress watch, not a sports watch. I have it for more than a year and it is like new. Will recommend it. I am a teacher in my fifties and I can see the watch during the classes clearly without disturbing the audience.

Bought my Mondaine for £200 and loved the way it looked on my wrist, there's something really cool about the fact it looks like a Swiss railway clock. The movement started slowing down after 3 years and after a further 6 months it needed a service. NOT GOOD. The warranty is only for 2 years (as is usually the case with companies that want your money from servicing costs) and you will need to change the battery once every 12 months. Unless you can't get over the fact that one of these watches looks like a Swiss railway clock on your wrist I would look elsewhere.

These watches are definitely not waterproof . Mine steamed up after 18 months and because I misplaced the warranty papers Monday refused to honour the 2 year guarantee . I would never recommend this brand to anyone

Light and elegant, Very good value for money for a Swiss-made quartz watch. Plain black strap adds to uncluttered functionality of this timepiece. Only irritation is that date does not adjust at the end of the month so you can see dates like '34' requiring a manual change monthly.

I absolutely love the iconic design but have just dust -binned it after 3 years. The strap disintegrated after 2 years and it started to stop/lose time about the same time. Despite new battery changes it continued to be unreliable and then the winder came out and proved irreparable. I must say that I love the design but the quartz movement inside looks pretty ordinary and cheap. It has proved to be design over substance and I am gutted.

This is a classy wristwatch but setting the date at the end of each month takes a little care. Pull the 'winder' out with the thumbnail - one click (fully out - sets the time). The date will only change by increasing the number up to 39 and then zero-zero and then zero-one etc. The date cannot be reduced; turning the 'winder' anti-clockwise has no effect. A very satisfied customer.

Ho acquistato questo orologio perché ha alcune particolarità. E' svizzero, quindi è una garanzia in più sulla precisione... il prezzo molto buono. Pesa pochissimo non arriva a 50 grammi quindi non dà alcun fastidio, non lo senti quasi per niente. Soprattutto il motivo per cui l'ho acquistato è che ha una grande data ben visibile senza sforzo a chiunque. I datari piccoli degli altri orologi non li leggevo più..senza occhiali, ora non ci sono più problemi. Leggo bene senza dovermi mettere gli occhiali... Insomma sono molto soddisfatto e lo consiglierei a chiunque per praticità, funzionalità e semplicità.

Les moins : Le bracelet fait très ordinaire et de plus il coute 37 E. Impossible de trouver cette montre dans ce diamètre (36) avec un autre bracelet ,même pas le rouge .Le verre n'est pas un verre saphir mais un verre minéral durci ,il a l'air quand même de bonne qualité . La fiche technique de chez Amazon est tout a fait fantaisiste ,mieux vaut allez la consulter sur d'autres sites . Les plus : Par contre mieux vaut acheter cette montre chez Amazon car le prix est de loin le moins cher de tous ,ce qui m'a permis d'acheter un bracelet inox maille Milanese de chez Geckoka qui vas très très bien avec la montre . J'adore le cadran et la forme du boitier ,la trotteuse rouge est ludique ,la big date a 3 heures est super et le remontoir incruste du M sur fond rouge est tres joli aussi .Cette montre est très attachante ,elle a quelque chose que les autres n'ont pas ,dire que le design date de 1944 ,maintenant ont ne fait pas mieux .D'Habitude je n'aime pas les montres rondes mais celle la vraiment je l'adore et je suis tres satisfait de mon achat .

Ich habe mir diese Uhr gekauft, um das Datum trotz Alterssichtigkeit schnell ablesen zu können. Dass der Sekundenzeiger ("Kelle") nicht dem bei deutschen Bahnhofsuhren üblichen (Öse) entspricht, habe ich vernachlässigen müssen, weil es meines Wissens keine andere Firma gibt, die eine Armbanduhr im Bahnhofsuhr-Design mit einem sog. "Big Date" herstellt. Die Uhr entspricht eigentlich dem, was ich mir vorgestellt hatte, und das Datum ist wirklich gut abzulesen. Allerdings erschwert die Krone, die aus unerfindlichen Gründen glatt statt geriffelt ist, die Einstellung von Zeit und Datum unnötig. Ich werde u. a. versuchen, ein Stückchen Schrumpfschlauch darüber zu setzen, damit die Finger nicht an der Krone entlangrutschen.

Ich habe diese Uhr wegen der guten Ablesbarkeit und des großen Datums gewählt. Sie erfüllt meine Erwartungen. Leider ist die "Höhe des Gehäuses" nicht, wie angegeben, nicht 0,5 cm, sondern 0,9 cm! Wer sich an der etwas dickeren Uhr nicht stört, kann sie ohne weiters kaufen.
