Knightsbridge 12V 20-60W Transformer, 60 W, Halogen Dimmable

Very easy to install. I bought this because it was dimmable, and it is, but!!!! What I wasn't expecting was a disco. It finds it hard to maintain a set voltage and just goes up and down, it will shoot up to full power and then go down to minimum. I've tried three other switches just in case, but still have the same problem. Not good overall.

I have been trying to find compact 12VAC transformers for ages, that actually work. Once again, this batch doesn't - 2 give 6VAC and the other one 7.5VAC. The cost of returning these (you never get that refunded no matter which online platform you buy from) makes replacement impractical but the main reason I won't even go there is because one of the transformers was very obviously a previously returned item, poorly repackaged too. I didn't go for the cheapest seller and the reviews seemed positive for this brand and frankly, I'm getting tired of this and reckon it will be easier if more costly to convert the low voltage system to full mains.

Installed correctly and worked with Led ceiling down lights for 30 minutes then started to flash and then stopped working. I personally would avoid this unit.

Easy enough to install on a simple low voltage halogen circuit but burned out within a year tripping the entire lighting circuit. The heat evident from the photo suggests a possible fire risk.

Ordered 4 downlight transformers, 1 needed and 3 as spares. I have now gone through all 4 in just over 1 week. They fail after about 3 hours (only switched on for around a max of 20 minutes at a time) operating time, blowing the halogen lamp at the same time. Don’t waste your money and your time buying this item- obviously not fit for purpose!

Bought this a few months back and only just got round to installing it. Result, transformer is totally dead, no output on 12v at all. All mains sources working but meter on transformer output shows zero and lights obviously don't work either. It might work for some people but it's a gamble and you might get a dud like I did.

Do not buy this, you will have to replace when switching to low energy lights. Will flicker at 25hz on led lights.
