Is this the device or just a case?

It's just a case. And I personally think it's a little disappointing. It doesn't have a catch to close it securely. I decided not to attach the device to my phone, because it's getting a bit old and I might get a new one soon. Instead, I keep the device inside this case, inside the box it comes in, inside a small plastic bag, and carry that in my bag instead! It does protect the device, but it's not what I would call a good carry case! Hope that helps.
