12w LED Driver Transformer for MR16- MR11- G4 LED Light Bulb ZERO Interference with Dab and Wifi

Delivery period was about a week, but it arrived within two days via Royal Mail! I had fitted 5 AC/DC (work with AC or DC supply) LED GU4 lamps as replacements for 5 G4 Halogens running off a 12V AC transformer. After fitting they flickered. Identified the problem as the transformer and so bought this as a replacement. The transformer is rated at 12W max and the LEDs are 1.2W each making the total load 6W. Running at half its capacity it runs cool and no flickering. Works perfectly. The AC input side is marked L and N so if you don't have a colour coded cable you don't know which is which. ( I did a continuity check using a multimeter between the plug and the end of the cable), but I don't think it matters as the device is a class 2 selv unit with no earth. The terminals are quite small. The output is marked + and -, but in my case as the lamps are AC/DC it didn't matter which way round the connections were made. Don't know how long it will last, but as it is running cool at half its capacity, hopefully a long time. If it lasts, excellent value for money at £4.99.

This 12 Watt LED Driver is the ideal replacement for the standard 240/12 Volt AC step down transformer, which is commonly used to power 12 Volt halogen bulbs - typically used under kitchen wall cupboards - sometimes called worktop lights. The 240 Volt Mains INPUT and 12 Volt DC OUTPUT connectors are clearly marked to prevent you connecting anything the wrong way round and the small terminal blocks are accessed after removing a small cross-head screw. You also need a small flat head screwdriver to tighten the screws inside the terminal blocks. You can of course connect 4 x 3 Watt or 6 x 2 Watt LED bulbs into this driver, which is usually enough for most kitchens.

Quality fine as expected, works as expected, still working

My marble fire-surround uses two 35w MR16 halogens to down-light onto my fireplace. In an energy-saving exercise, I decided to replace them with two 3w LED MR16 bulbs. On prompt arrival, I fitted them, only to discover my existing 12v transformer needed a minimum load of 30w to function; the solution was to replace it with this LED transformer. As I only required 6w, the 12w rating of this unit was more than enough. As a previous review stated, its a little larger than a box of matches, its obvious where the required cables go and was straight-forward to fit. Once cabled in, with the unit being so small, I found it easy to push inside the light-fitting's aperture. Perfect for my needs.

Our townhouse is fitted with dozens of small overhead spot lamps working at 12 volt AC HALOGENS to achieve better efficiency we have been replacing these with LEDs. The existing transformers for each light are slowly giving up on life they also make the replacement LEDs flicker as their output is 12 volts AC. The existing kit also had a special plug connector to the removable light fitting - themselves a pain as they spring fit into the ceiling plasterboard. The key benefits of these transformers are they have a 12 volt DC output, I can cut off the existing connectors and wiring and simply connect to the input and output connectors of the new transformers, the LEDs no longer flicker, they are low cost and easily fit into the ceiling void. Time will tell if they have a reasonable lifespan.

They are cheap and compact and for the most part, work well. I have replaced 12 halogen downlighters throughout my home with led gu5.3 8.3w bulbs with one transformer per bulb. A couple of gripes. If you switch the lights off and back on again quickly the lights can start flashing and continue to flash until they are switched off again. You need to wait around 10s until switching back on. One light flashed continuously anyway about half of the occasions that it was switched on and you have to go through the off/wait/on procedure to get it to light steadily. I have replaced it - the flashing is a migraine-inducing experience, so hopefully the new transformer will be more reliable.

These were perfect for the job - really simple to switch the halogen transformers and the LED transformers. Change of bulb and ta da! My lights now work again!
