A record for the amusement of children and arrested adolescents everywhere. Twenty-six songs full of cowbells, worlf calls, banjos, bongos, hiccups and rubber duckies about boppin' robins, cranky magicians, dancing pigs, singing cats, pickle trees, meatball bushes, spitting cows and gambling mice. Bringing them to lfie are roots rock heroes Rosie Flores, Kelly Hogan, Alejandro Escovedo, Robbie Fulks, the Handsome Family, the Waco Brothers, Split Lip Rayfield, Kim Lenz, Freakwater, Trailer Bride and more. Review: Cd - Good music Review: Great for adults, and older kids - This album has some really fun songs on it, and on a recent road trip from TX to GA our 14mo seemed to enjoy it! The best children's music I've bought
I admit I originally bought this album because Split Lip Rayfield had a song on it--it's never too early to teach your children about great bluegrass--but it turns out the whole thing is fantastic. Each of my children has favorite songs, but the great thing is I can play it with all of them in the car and no one complains--not even the teenager. I suppose I should also confess that I've been known to listen to a track or two when there were no kids around at all. The musical styles are all over the place, so there's something for everyone, but every last artist on the disc is highly talented and doing great work in his/her type of music. Not a single clunker. This has become my favorite present to buy for friends having babies. Who needs another onesie when you can have the Waco Brothers and One Riot, One Ranger?

Outstanding!
I bought this CD to get one song: Rosie Flores doing "Red Red Robin". And it was well worth it. But, wow, what a treasure trove it turned out to be! The songs are terrific, frequently hilarious, and the musicianship is top notch. It's an eclectic and highly entertaining bunch of songs and styles. I skip over "Godfrey" now -- hearing it six or eight times is enough. The concept just doesn't bear repeated listening. But at our house, we can't get enough of the rest of the songs. As you might guess, I'd recommend you get this, whether you have kids or not.

Grandpa Can Listen!
I've been listening to this album fairly steadily for nine years now, as grandchildren never seem to get tired of it. I encourage them to choose this one because it is non-grating even after repeated listening, unlike practically all children's music. Great songs, great artists - you can even dance with the little ones. Definitely worth getting!

Read this review before you buy
The high quality of the music on this CD is notable. The version of 'Senor Don Gato' alone is worth the $13.99 pricetag. However this is not a CD for you if you are looking for upbeat, light hearted humor for young children. There are a few songs that many would feel are of questionable content with a significant gross-out factor. In particular, the song 'Godfrey' which in my view is only appropriate for children who are old enough to understand black comedy. The song tells the story of "Godfrey the sickly, unemployed, amateur children's magician". It describes how Godfrey makes magic shows with mucus root-beer floats. The song ends with him in a straight jacket never to be seen again. A couple other tracks "Funky Butt" and I'm my own Grandpa" might not be what you want a preschooler singing. This is a great CD, but preview the mentioned tracks before buying.

Funky, funny and GREAT!
Bought this YEARS ago when my kids were still little. LOVED the edgyness and originality of the whole thing. As the kids got older they started to "get" the twisted-ness of it and enjoyed it on a whole new level. The polarizing song about "Godfrey", the sickly unemployed amature childrens magician can be used to quickly evaluate potential "friend families". "Cool" parents that you will want to hang with will think it's hysterical and sing along loudly, Uptight parents who react with shock and distress are ones that you don't want your children (or yourself) to be exposed to!
