Label reads 1 50mg caplet =455% of dva but the rda of zinc for women is 11mg daily, what am i missing here?

I spent a lot of time researching this online, it’s confusing,...but I’ll try to explain what I read. The RDA for (non pregnant) women is 8-9mg of “Elemental Zinc” (11mg for men) However there are several different forms of zinc supplements,... sulfate, citrate, acetate, gluconate, etc., with each different type containing a varying concentration and/or % of “Elemental Zinc” that your actually getting from the supplements. So according to the AAFP- American Academy of Family Physicians among other reputable site’s, Zinc Gluconate contains 14.3% of Elemental Zinc, 50mg of zinc gluconate=7mg of Elemental Zinc. [100mg=14mg Elemental Zinc] (Same as Chinks concluded). I hope this helps explain a little. After what I researched it doesn’t make any sense that the label reads DVA=455%? Sry I couldn’t find an explanation for this. I’ve been taking 50-100mg daily for 15+yrs w/no problems. IDK, maybe call the company or ask a pharmacist?

Is this product vegan?

If it doesn't say "vegan" on the packaging, probably not. Common sources for zinc are beef, oysters, various seafood.

what does chelated mean?

The strict meaning is an atomic one, regarding binding of metal ions; but the practical one is that it is a chemical process applied to zinc making it easier to digest (I found that normal zinc tablets made me queasy, especially on an empty stomach, whereas chelated zinc does not)
