This Review Comes From The Newly Released German Import Blu-ray release for This classic series Not The current UK DVD releases. with The DVD releases mixed in with Blu-ray reviews it can get difficult at Times. The Six Million Dollar Man The Bionic Adventures of astronaut Steve Austin. we all know The premise Austin his mortally injured in a Test flight and They can rebuilt him better stronger faster. Steve Austin superbly played by Lee Majors is one of TVs Most iconic characters. All Five seasons of Austin's incredible adventures are now available in stunning High Definition be it a German import release. personally There are some really good points for This collection which is surely The remastered Blu-ray prints They are simply Gorgeous from The classic opening credits you will be hooked on This series all over again. I do own The UK DVD release of The series and like Steve Austin's super speed This release leaves your DVDs far behind. A staggering Ten episodes per Disc feature on The Blu-ray and perhaps This is were The collection as a few little bad points. I presume to fit say Ten episodes per Disc we are loosing some edits Towards The end of The episodes simply They are slightly shortened. Die Hard fans of The series like myself know These episodes inside out. There only minor little Trims and if you were not familiar with The episodes Themselves you really wouldn't notice it. unlike The DVD releases from what I can tell there does not appear to be any Extras for The collection. Though my past experience with foreign import releases if They were They would probably be as in This case in German. which brings us onto The Discs main menus a simple click To English plays your Discs in just That. an informative episode guide booklet while in German retains The English Titles for The episodes so you can still Tell which Disc your favourite episode is on. Despite The plus and Negative sides for This release I would still Highly recommend it until an official English release comes along Though I won't be given up my DVDs of The series just yet. you will be purchasing This collection simply for The upgrade and it is one remarkable upgrade That said if your a die hard fan of the show The cuts to The episodes are a slight put off and needs To be Taking in view before you purchase That would really be my only advice on opting To purchase This release.

Arrived this week and I dived straight in and watched the pilot episode. I have very fond memories of this feature length story and couldn't wait to see it again. I have the DVD set and was considering whether the bluray was really worth the money. It is. The quality is far superior. The colour is really impressive. The attached photos show that the set is well packaged with standard bluray multi-sleeves separated into 6 sets. I have watched three episodes plus the pilot since it arrived and am not disappointed in spending money on a series I invested so much time in as a child. The audio may be enhanced, I'm not sure, but it is very clear. I used to think Lee Majors mumbled at times but I can hear every word now. The only negative is the thin sleeve that holds the whole package together. It won't last long unless you are really careful with it. The DVD set came in a sturdy box, which would have really finished this item off a treat. Each season is accompanied by a booklet as shown in the photos. If a little 1970's TV action is your thing I can recommend this set. Give it a few years and this may well be very difficult to find so grab it now while you can.

I watched this show on tv back in the 70’s as a kid. Back then US shows were in NTSC and badly converted over to PAL format to be shown over the pond. They were cut up to insert commercials and often edited in ways from the original. Anyway what is fantasticto realise is all these shows were shot on film not video tape. These Blue Rays have been remastered from this original film source and they are something else.. Colours pop - the picture looks absolutely amazing most of the time! I highly recommend these disks to any fan and I guarantee the quality will impress . The menus have been redone on this new release and are now very smart. Expensive yes but if you want to own everything in amazing quality plus all the extra reunion films etc, then it’s well worth it!

As you may or may not be aware, The Six Million Dollar Man has only been released on BluRay in Germany (this set). Every other country has to put up with old, DVD quality releases, and that is the first thing you notice - the quality! Where the old DVD picture looks blurry, faded and grainy, this looks clear and sharp with magnificent colours! The sound remains in mono, but is now in glorious DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Mono! Being a German release, the audio is available in German DTS as well as English, and although most of the content has no subtitles, what few there are, are in German. Apparently, the DVD release had some content cut so that the episodes could all fit on the disks, and some of the original soundtrack music had been replaced due to licencing issues. This set restores the original music and cut sections. The three original pilot movies are available as the cut down TV movie versions that were released on the DVDs, or as 2 part Episodes which add approximately 25 minutes of extra footage to each movie, and as a result, make a lot more sense and explain what would otherwise be plot-holes. The “The Bionic Woman” episodes are also available here as both individual episodes, and as a movie version – although the movie version doesn’t seem to have anything cut from it, and is approximately the same running time as the two episodes minus the “previously on the Six Million Dollar Man…” catch-up and the second episode title sequence. New on the movie version is a Director’s Commentary, but I can’t say who it’s by or what it’s like, as it is German language only, and not mentioned in the accompanying booklet… In fact, the only thing that lets it down for me is the fact that it has been slightly "Germanised" and before you all shout "Racist!", let me explain: • The original title sequence (“I can’t hold her – she’s breaking up, she’s break…”) [which were shown either at the start of each episode, or more commonly after a short ‘teaser’ and before the episode proper] have been removed. These have been replaced with an almost identical version (except with the titles in German) that is shown at the start of every episode, then followed by the teaser, then by the episode proper. Why not have the title sequence in the same place as the original version? • The episode name has also been replaced with a German version, but I don’t really mind this as this is the German version after all… • Occasionally, hard-coded German subtitles appear on-screen, translating an important sign or document title, or other plot-relevant item that is not in German. This is distracting, and unnecessary as it could have been easily accomplished using ‘forced’ subtitles. These can be switched on or off at will in the player menu, and could be set by default to automatically switch on if the player language is set to ‘German’. Completely unobtrusive and transparent. There is one more omission - The crossover episodes with ‘The Bionic Woman’ are a bit muddled. 1. “The Return of Bigfoot” parts 1 & 2 are both included, even though part 2 was a ‘Bionic Woman’ episode. This is great, although the Bionic Woman title sequence has been removed, and The Six Million Dollar Man title sequence has been inserted at the beginning, before the ‘catch-up’ for part 1. 2. “Kill Oscar” has been omitted entirely. This was originally a three-part crossover, with parts 1 and 3 being episodes of ‘The Bionic Woman’. It would have been nice to have had all three episodes here in glorious HD, but I can only assume that they are on the companion BluRay set of ‘The Bionic Woman’ (Die Sieben Millionen Dollar Frau), albeit in Standard Definition only, as is the rest of that box set. Apart from those minor issues, this is a very well put together, if slightly basic, set. There is a nicely constructed accompanying booklet (printed on glossy, heavyweight paper) which lists the episodes for each disc along with a brief resumé of each one (this is all in German, but it does also give the English title of each episode). It doesn’t list any of the included extras, which are few and far-between for the first two seasons, and completely non-existent after that. What there (five featurettes and an interview) is in 480p US Standard Definition, and looks to have been grabbed from the season 1 & 2 DVDs. All things considered; this is a set well worth buying. What you will mostly be doing is watching the episodes, and the quality of the ones here greatly enhances the viewing experience.

I loved this tremendous series as a kid in the 70s and I'm loving it all over again as an adult. My partner and I try to make time for an episode every Saturday morning, and to think that there are 100 episodes and lots of extras totalling approximately 17 hours is one hell of a treat. I managed to pick this up on Amazon 'used like new' for £55 and boy what a bargain that was! Mine came in a sturdy card box (as seen in the image) which features 6 large, really solid DVD cases with the many DVDs in each mounted safely on clips. The first five cases contain dozens of DVDs for series 1-5 whilst the sixth case contains DVDs of bonus features of which there are plenty. Each case also features a nice colour booklet. I really feel for those who got saddled with versions of this collection featuring the DVDs slapped on top of each other on spindles. That is simply not good enough! If you get the decent version with the nice quality cases then it really is everything fans of this series could hope for. BTW, picture and sound quality are very good throughout which I am delighted with. Very highly recommended!

I suspect there will be a number of 50-somethings who like myself, spent their teen years following this series through most of the 70's. I must confess that I hadn't seen any of the episodes since their original broadcast until buying the Universal/Playback R2 release of season one a few years ago. Rediscovering the series again, the stories and action seem to unfold at a more relaxed pace than my memory would have me believe - no bad thing of course, just like meeting a long-lost friend in my case. The series kicks off with Colonel Steve Austin (Lee Majors) barely clinging on to life following a near-fatal crash involving a NASA aircraft. His shattered legs, arm, and an eye are replaced with astronomically expensive bionic limbs & an ultra-sensitive eye (hence the 'Six Million Dollar' title) developed by the US government. The new anatomical additions mean that Austin is now "better, stronger, faster" than ever before. Austin's 'debt' for these revolutionary replacements is to be repaid by Austin agreeing to work for the government's OSI division, whose director, Oscar Goldman (Richard Anderson) sends Austin on various secret missions. What follows is a collection of mostly 50-minute episodes, with themes including espionage, sci-fi (aliens, 'Bigfoot' etc) but generally 'human' stories. Austin really isn't your stereotypical all-action hero with girls swooning at his feet, but is more a down-to-earth & reserved but friendly individual, with the 'bionic' angle used sparingly & not as a gimmicky crowd-pleaser. I've grown very fond of Lee Majors' understated performance as the reluctant superhero with super-strength. Amongst other things, the slow-motion 'bionic' effects place the show firmly in the 1970's, a cult series with nostalgic memories for those who remember it from first time around. Having come to this boxset after watching the complete series of Bill Bixby's "The Incredible Hulk" it's interesting to compare various aspects from both series: the 'scientific' pilot stories, followed by the more 'human story' episodes - with each central character possessing 'super-human' strength. As for the picture & sound quality, the restored and remastered prints on this complete & uncut collection are a big improvement on the previous Universal/Playback R2 release of season one - nicely cleaned up. As with many other NTSC discs in my collection I occasionally noticed some picture instability when the action moved quickly across the screen, but it's something I personally can live with. This Region 2+4 Fabulous Films release also includes English subtitles. Each series features an illustrated booklet with an episode list with synopsis. The collection is stored in 6 plastic cases, which are then housed in a sturdy cardboard 'cube' case which has a ribbon insert (with a ribbon handle to lift the lid). What a series this was!Lee Majors with a dodgy tash not unlike Mr.Soul in Starsky and Hutch,unlike the other reviews I've not had any glitches at all the picture is perfect and sound is excellent.I think the reason why the prices are so high for this box set is because of all the extras on,the Hulk box set which I also have even has a button on that you press and it goes RAARGH had very little extras on apart from the films and a stills gallery,this one has the works-tv docs,up to date interviews with the cast extras on each season disc as well as a bonus disc.I doubt very much whether this will come down in price due to the extra stuff thats on it and to be fair there isn't a lot of places in the uk that still sell the complete hulk set.The only thing i will moan about is the box that the dvds come in as soon as you lift the lid to take the dvds out it breaks so be warned.Otherwise a good buy if you can afford it.

A blast from my youth now fully restored and looking like it was produced yesterday, yes it’s getting on for almost 50 years old but it’s still good. A simpler time but with all that you require from a show without modern oh wow is me, who am I?what is my purpose in life? Sit back and enjoy if you remember The Six Million Dollar Man

Der englische original Pilotfilm ist mit deutschen Untertiteln. Die komplette Serie in deutsch . Die drei Spielfilme sind ebenso enthalten . Der erste Rückkehr der Roboter ist deutsch synchronisiert , die anderen zwei - Bionic Showdown - Bionic Ever After in Englisch mit deutschen Untertiteln . Die überarbeitete Fassung ist von sehr guter Bild und Ton Qualität . Die Blue Rays sind ordentlich in der Hülle zu befestigen und fliegen nicht lose in der Gegend herum . Wurde ohne Kratzer geliefert . Booklet mit kurzem Serien Inhalt liegt mit dabei .

Watching The Six Million Dollar Man in 2018 takes me back to being a 7-8 year old kid with a Kenner Steve Austin “action figure” in hand as each episode aired. The excitement among similarly aged kids was palatable, we all wanted to be Steve Austin, heck the odd girl would even pretend to be Jaime Sommers! Some kids had the Medical Bay or Rocket ship play sets which could induce jealousy among those who didn't… it was around the time of Evil Knievel, Kiss, Star Wars, Super Friends and the rise of Marvel Comics, it kind of fit perfectly with the times if you were under 10. So, to finally be able to have all these in my collection for under 50 bucks feels pretty great… if you grew up with this show I’d say you owe it to yourself to relive it, at least a little bit. As expected they barely hold up to any of the hype you remember, but the nostalgia factor is about a 10 and the Bigfoot episodes alone make everything alright… The extras are interesting and the bonus made for TV movies, while pretty dull, are cool to have… I certainly hadn’t seen them! I won't talk about quality, you can find that elsewhere, it looks fine, it sounds fine ... mostly I just like being able to toss this on when I need a dose of nostalgia, simple as that. I picked this up on a lightning deal, I’d say if you can do the same, and you have similar memories of this show... it’s an easy buy.

Absolutely thrilled with this fantastic German release of the legendary 'Six Million Dollar Man' or as the Germans like to call it 'Der Sechs Millionen Dollar Mann.' I've seen several transfers of this series to DVD and was utterly disappointed to say the least, terrible fuzz, colour blur, sound drop outs you name it. By sharp contrast, enter this incredible release which I've no doubt is the finest transfer of the series ever made. The picture is so crisp and clear and the sound is spot on. The great Germans have done an amazing job of putting this together. The accompanying booklet is mostly in German with just English in brackets for the episode guide(which is all you need, if you would like more details purchase 'The Bionic Book' and you have it.) As this is a German release this is to be expected but they have done a stellar job and the 12 Blu Ray discs are presented in 2 super dual clam shell cases in a lovely box. You get the entire Six Million Dollar Man series and the TV movies, it's all here. All you need is the Bionic Women set(the German release is only Standard Definition on Bluray to fit it all on 3 Blu Ray discs, so if you can find a DVD set it's practically the same.) The only slight seriously minor issue may be that there has been a couple of seconds that have been clipped on some episodes for the purpose of fitting it all nicely onto the 12 Blu Ray discs, but seriously it really doesn't matter. Purists may scoff at this but I'd rather a couple of seconds missing any day to crappy transfers with poor sound and almost unwatchable fuzzy drivel wasting my time. Imagine 2 seconds of a pan clipped with absolutely no action in the scene at all, is that really a loss? Simply put this is the finest transfer your going to find of this superb Sci-Fi show which was doing Cyborgs long before films like 'The Terminator' and the soon to be released 'Cyberpunk 2077 video game' for example. Sure there's a lot of special effects that people may scoff at, but keep in mind this was the 70's when the series was made and for this fan it still has a great charm and is filled with terrific stories.(Also those effects were top notch for the budget at the time, so stop knocking them, use your imagination and enjoy the magic.) What makes it ultra special is the way the writers kept the human element in this series above all else. Yes they have the amazing Bionic limbs which give them incredible capabilities but they still have to fit in with the rest of the world and that means using the abilities with care and thoughtfulness. Star Trek fans may be surprised to know DC Fontana wrote a couple of episodes for this series and the array of top notch celebrities that appear in the show(William Shatner and George Takei for example) is amazing. All in all, the show along with it's counterpart 'The Bionic Women' still hold there own in a unique form of story telling made possible by the incredible advancement of Bionics(coined from Cybernetics.) The most amazing transfer of a classic TV series transfer to Blu Ray I've seen in a long while. The only other sets that can match this would be 'Original Star Trek', 'Star Trek The Next Generation', 'The Outer Limits' and 'The Twilight Zone' original series to Blu Ray. There is a tragic trend to simply dump non-remastered or even a high definition transfer to Blu Ray and just stick the DVD content on there. Even packages like the alleged 5 Blu Ray Bladerunner(again the Six Million Dollar Man predated Cybernetics) transfer had just 3 Blu Rays and the special features on DVD, which was complete and utter false advertising. Then there's other releases with just DVD quality on a Blu Ray??? Where is the incentive for fans to go Blu Ray if there not going to do a proper high definition picture and sound transfer? Not so with this magnificent transfer, you have to see it to believe it. Don't worry that it's titles and booklet are in German, you simply select the 'Englich' from the menu then the booklet will tell you what each of the episodes are in English. This is pure heaven for any Six Million Dollar Man fans out there and any negativity out there is so rediculous it's not even worth taking into account. Mind blowing transfer and oh the joy to finally watch it without interference from poor quality tape transfers etc. The best Six Million Dollar Man transfer you are going to find period. (There is nothing out there that beats it.) A massive thanks and a well done to the great folks in Germany who put the time and effort into this wondeful box set, it has paid off, WELL DONE!!!!

This is one of the best looking Blu ray TV Series box sets I have seen yet. It is from Germany but has the English DTS HD Master Stereo audio as well as the German HD Master audio as well. There are an average 10 episodes per disc which are 50GB each and how they did the conversion process to have this many on one disc and still look absolutely brilliant with "zero" compression visible is a feat to wonder. The picture transfer from the original film negatives is Stunning!!! Also when you see signs or names in English during each feature there is no annoying hard coded caption overlay in German. The packaging is wonderful and nicely made with a lidded box to hold the 2 cases of Blu rays with black foam insert for protection between the discs. No money was held back when they made this boxset, it is put together to last many, many years , nothing looks or feels cheap at all about this set. Comes with a nice thick booklet that describes each episode (in German) but can be easily be translated with google translator app or equivalent. WELL WORTH THE PRICE THIS SET LOOKS AWESOME!!!!!

This is a great set with decent sound, good menus, and lots of content. The 5 series and reunion movies are full of great memories (though the sexism disguised as "Steve is a gentleman" hasn't aged well) and was fun to watch again! The price was right too - under $50! So, like $10 a season!
