My daughter has asked for a slow cooker for Christmas but she will be out of the house for 12 hours. Would the food over Cook if left that long?

No. She should put it on the low setting and only put vegetables in when she gets home for approx. 15-20 minutes as these would overcook. The food never loses its flavour. I have sometimes had mine on for most of the day and the food is wonderful. Liquid never evaporates. Follow the recipe book you get with the cooker and you can't go wrong. You can buy lots of recipe books with really tasty recipes. It is the best thing I have ever bought.

As this is so small, what do people do about recipes? (am new to slow cookers plus I am disabled so can't spend much time preparing meals)

cook your recipe fo 2 eat one half freeze other half or let it grow cold cover it with cling put freezer

Does it have a European plug as want to take it to France ?

This has a three pin plug we use here, I would think you need an adapter to use in France, Great machine, well worth taking, go out and dinner is ready when you come home. enjoy.
