Perfect for my needs
This is a review of the Cubilux Toslink optical 1-In 3-Out splitter. A number of the customer reviews I see on Amazon under this product talk about USB input/optical output and volume control (or lack of). Those are different products. This is just an optical amplifier, its not going to change volume of the audio or turn USB data into SPDIF/Toslink output. I have a 45' optical audio run from the TV (for OTA and streaming video) to the home theater sound processor. I already have a couple 35' cables that I know work so used 1 and a passive optical coupler to patch another 10' cable to reach. It seems to work OK. I know the combination of that overall length and the loss thru the coupler can produce dropouts and possibly inability to pass higher data rate formats that TOSLINK should handle. It is also a bit beyond the stated technical limits of TOSLINK without a booster or repeater. I bought this little unit to put in place of the passive coupler, largely because it promises to cleanly boost the incoming signal. The description on Amazon refers to "ultra-low jitter" and "skew" which might imply some internal circuitry that actually lowers incoming jitter, but given the units extremely small size, I doubt that is the case, but I dont have the ability to analyze jitter and am not very inclined to try to open this up. More likely it just employs fast amplifiers with low added jitter and skew. I dont have a need for and am not using the output splitter function so am not in a position to comment on that feature . It comes with a modest USB power cable and, at least initially I have it plugged into an inexpensive wall wart USB power cube. I expect to substitute a high quality, low noise 5V source at some point to see if that change is at all audible to me. It is in the system right now down stream of the 35' cable and driving the 10'. it is cleanly and reliably passing DD 5.1 based on how the processor is behaving. It is a little difficult to make a judgement regarding sound quality compared to the passive coupler at this point. No odd dropouts or noises that are not in the sound stream are apparent, but I have not yet come across a broadcast or streaming source that I would say is good enough to let me distinguish any subjective sound quality changes. If I have more to add, I will edit this review.

No more choosing between two sound inputs to use.
Love my 5 .1 sound system but sometimes I like the clarity of my ZVox . Before using this I will have to choose and then move my furniture to remove the cable from one source to another. Not any more. I had an issue and I contacted the company and they worked with me. I am happy that a company doesn’t leave you hanging.

Nifty!
There is so little signal margin in my TV's toslink output that putting a 2-way passive splitter caused out wireless headphone to not work at all, while the soundbar was cutting out every few seconds. This is the situation this active splitter was designed to fix. And it does fix it very nicely. There is no discernible degrading of the sound quality.

When you only have one and need more.
Can't say it is good or bad yet.

Yes, this works!
Yes, this works! From my 70" Samsung TV to the Cubilux 3-Way Optical Audio Splitter and then BOTH the Samsung Sound bar and the Yamaha Receiver now have their own Toslink fiber optic connection. No issues with sound, no interference from wi-fi or bluetooth devices, and a lot less expensive than multiple bluetooth connections! I can flip from either output (or both) simply by using the remote(s) to power on (or off) the device(s) I want to listen to.
