Skylink 318TN Keychain Transmitter

The remote control that is built in to my duplex's garage door opener is iffy. Sometimes it works from the street, sometimes I can hold the transmitter against the opener and it still won't work. Tried everything I could think of to no avail.When I had a long-term guest coming, I installed the Skylink 318TR Universal Garage Door Remote Control and ordered this extra transmitter. Works like a charm. Now that she's gone home, I use the second (this) transmitter on my bicycle and don't have to worry about moving it back and forth.I'm very pleased with the entire system and would highly recommend it to anyone needing to replace or augment their existing remote control.

The Skylink 318 remote opener system is simple and a bit old fashioned. I'm pretty sure it doesn't have rolling code security.I have two garage doors, with different brand openers.The remote is not programmed like newer systems. The code is set with several jumpers. Just match the jumper "code" in the transmitters and the receivers and you're good to go. (You do need a 318R receiver for each door.)The product dimensions of the actual transmitter are 2.6 x 1.5 x 0.7 in. The holder is slightly larger.The downsides? The small size makes it a little easier to lose. I bought this as a replacement for a lost remote. There's no traditional visor clip, and I'm not in love with the holder. The remote is a little too big for a key chain.The battery is a little odd; an A23 (12volt). But batteries are readily available. I've never had to replace one. It comes with a long life Alkaline battery.Cheap and simple. I recommend it. The 318 components are getting harder to find, but they're still ou there.

This works well for my older “House Link” garage door opener, which appears to be pretty much the same unit as the current “Sky Link” offering. I am deducting one star because the included battery was essentially dead on arrival and required the hassle and additional expense to replace before the remote would work.10/22/18 Update: I have now ordered three of these as replacement remotes, and they work well with my older receiving unit. However, I’m subtracting an additional star due to the fact that all three of the included batteries required replacement after only a week or two.

I ordered this product as an extra remote along with the "Skylink 318TR Universal In-Car Garage Door Remote Control" and the "Skylink 318KR Keyless Entry System"The keyless Entry System worked, barely, but it worked (see my review of that product)The "Skylink 318TR Universal In-Car Garage Door Remote Control" arrived DOA.Mixed results with these products, but one thing that did work with all of these, was this "Keychain Transmitter".The Keychain Transmitter worked from all of these products, either when ordered alone, or with another product.When I say they all worked, they worked with the Skylink product line, I don't know about working with other systems.However, buyers should be aware, for some odd reason, these remotes use a tiny 12 volt battery. They are about the diameter of a AAA (Triple A) battery, yet 1/2 the length, and they are 12 volts.Unlike other Skylink products, these all seemed to work.I gave it 4 stars just for the odd battery, however these Keychain Remotes do work.

The Skylink 318TN Keychain Transmitter is a very handy remote.Small and compact it fits easily in the cup holder of my carIt arrived with a holder as well as adhesive to keep the holder in place in your auto.Also included was a handy tool to program the remote via the dip switches as well as very user friendly instructions.I also found customer support was quite responsive to my questions.

Worked like a charm. Shipped quickly which I needed since my old one got taken out of my truck(don't know why. It was held together with duct tape. Only thing in truck to get. kids maybe; left door unlocked by mistake). I was needing a new one anyway(just changed the code and everything is good). Was a lifesaver

I was looking at the Skylink 18 remote opener. I decided that it was the unit I wanted. Down below, the Amazon "Frequently Purchased Together" showed the 18 remote opener with the 318TR transmitters. I clicked "Add Both To Cart" because NO WHERE did it say that the two were NOT compatible. Well, the 18 remote opener DOES work well, however, I have returned the 318 transmitters as they can NOT be made to work with the 18 remote opener. If you are purchasing the 318 opener, these are what you want. Do NOT buy them with the 18 opener. I will give the 18 opener high marks, but can not rate the 318 transmitter as it would not work with the 18 opener.

Previously bought one of these and it has worked fine for a year or so. Just received 2 more -- 1 worked and 1 arrived with a dead battery. Overall a good product, but expect to pay $2-$5 additional for some percentage of them which will have dead or dying batteries.

No complaints!The unit arrived within a week or so, was dead simple to install, took about ten minutes, would have been less if my garage was neater.Works like a charm.I was a bit skeptical until it was all done as I had tried just about every Skylink adapter available in my local automotive stores and none of them worked despite their "Universal" claims.This one did! There was a brief "fail" until I checked and realized that I hadn't pushed the little wire connecting plug all the way in.Once I did that everything worked just fine, has good range too. (I did mount the receiver as close to the door as possible)A happy customer. :-)

Poor quality materials and function (short range). Bought two transmitters and had to return one after 6 months use. The 2 buttons are identical so very easy to press the wrong button.
