Great player and a solid build!
This is the best MP3 player that I have purchased by far. The quality of the sound is astounding, you can clearly hear the different tones in the music! I use wired earbuds as I prefer the uninterrupted sound, so I don’t know anything about the bluetooth. The player is a little on the expensive side, but for the quality it’s worth it. It's very solid build and the buttons have a good feel to them. It has some nice features, especially the scroll wheel function. The functions, as with all things, may take a while to get used to. The equaliser isn’t much good as there’s not much difference in the tonal quality. The custom equaliser is very hard to program, due to the fact that it does not have touchscreen, which makes it a hard slog. You have to individually press the back and forward buttons to move the slider up and down, so it takes a long time to change the settings. I also had to paint the buttons as I couldn’t decipher the symbols on the buttons, it’s much easier for me to navigate now , as the original picture shows. Apart from those small things, it’s a very good player and well worth buying.

Well built, hi quality sound and easy to set up.
A high quality item. Having relied upon a Plenue MP3 hi fi player for some 10 yrs, I purchased this item as a back up and to take advantage of the bluetooth connection. Everything was simple to set up (including playlists etc) and I was thankfully very surprised at the excellent sound reproduction of my loaded albums and songs. The Plenue cost twice as much but things have obviously moved on, with this player providing excellent clarity and depth via in-ear, over ear and even bluetooth headphones. The equalizer is a bonus but, in my view, surplus as the 'normal' setting is definitely the best.

Very, very good, but poor UI lets it down
All in all, this is an excellent little music player which I've only had 24 hours, but it's been pretty much used constantly. It's not perfect, hence four stars, not five. I won't go into the technical details as there are some far more competent reviews about sound quality, specifications etc. For me, this was a replacement for my wonderful little Sandisk Clip Jam which has just given up the ghost, and is now discontinued. In a sea of what seem to be cheap (and nasty?) players around the £20 - £50 the HiFi Walker is expensive but it's in a different league to all the others. It's very solid, heavy and really well built, the buttons have a good feel to them, and the music quality is pretty awesome. The battery lasts well - on one charge I've been listening to music and talking books for over 14 hours, and the battery level indicator is showing 50% full still. Contrary to some other reviews, mine came with a very concise instruction booklet that is easy to understand and is extremely helpful. Maybe the manufacturer took notice of the previous comments and upped their game. The only negative for me is the user interface, which quite frankly is poor, confusing and not intuitive. That said, everything you could ever want is there, including a sleep timer (frustratingly hidden under 'system settings / display settings / scheduled shutdown'). If you spend some time going through things, the menu starts to make sense, but frankly it should be easier.

Excellent sound quality, solid build, works as USB mass storage/load straight onto microSD card
I use it in conjunction with a set of Sennheiser HD25 headphones for portable/on-the-go/walking/outside use. The sound quality is truly excellent; suffice to say that it can generally be characterised as neutral, balanced, transparent: i.e. accurate. It fulfils all I would wish for sound quality wise from a portable setup. (My "reference" comparison setup is against a Topping A90 headphone amplifier/D90 DAC + Sennheiser HD800S). It compares very favourably, providing a good chunk of the performance for something in a portable package. In short, the sound is everything you could want for/hope for from a portable and reasonably priced DAP, and could be legitimately described as "audiophile". Because it works as a mass storage device, or you can simply load files directly onto the microSD card, this device works great out of the box with Linux; no fancy drivers required. (I should note I installed Rockbox on the device immediately after getting it (hosted install/dual boot), though the original firmware seems perfectly serviceable/decent. Rockbox enables me to use my 512GB microSD card, whereas the stock firmware is limited to 256GB. Rockbox firmware does seem to have a bug with generating a database, at least with my FLAC collection, however, since I just use the file browser (because all my FLACs are perfectly organised in a <artist>/<album> directory structure), this is of no concern to me)). I haven't tested the Bluetooth or Line Out performance, mainly because I doubt I will ever use this functionality. Listening using only lossless FLAC files (mostly 16bit/44khz), I'm trending toward 10-15 hours battery life. Summary: 1. Audiophile sound quality. 2. High quality output stage with excellent volume adjustability/range. 3. Decent, clear screen. Lock button functionality to stop unwanted button presses. 4. No audio glitches, breaks, or defects (note that I've done nearly all of my listening using Rockbox rather than OF) in use on the move. 5. Fair/reasonable price. 6. Solid build with lovely feel - perfect size and weight for carrying around. 7. Easy loading of music onto memory card/mass storage device, no garbage proprietary software required. 8. Decent, if not exceptional, battery life. Rockbox works very well on it (see caveats above), meaning you could potentially use a gigantic memory card with it if so desired, if you're a geek/power-user. (I'm using a 512GB card.) 9. Included fabric drawstring bag to protect it from scratches is a nice touch. Only costs them a few pennies and means you've got something to protect it right away. Meanwhile there is a metal loop you could affix a lanyard too as well, useful if you're the type of person prone to dropping things!

Great sound
I’ve had this mp3 player for nearly four weeks. The build quality is solid, the response from the buttons is spot on, the scroll wheel is far superior in feel than that of another mp3 player I have (you don’t feel that you could put your finger through it) however you can actually navigate round the units’ settings without using the scroll wheel, the back and forward buttons do the same thing. Switching the unit on and off can be a bit fiddly. The sound quality from this mp3 player via the supplied earbuds is superb. Unfortunately, one size of earbud does not fit all, so if these earbuds don’t suit you, you’ll need to source a decent alternative to get the benefit of the sound quality. I contacted the seller prior to purchase to clarify if this item was simply drag and drop on a MAC in order to get the music on to the player. Other sellers have claimed this drag and drop feature but when asked it turns out you need a card reader to drag and drop music if you are using a MAC, to me this is time consuming and not convenient. I was relieved to learn from the seller that it is drag and drop on a MAC as I want to get away from a fruit that desires to take over the world, music transfer is a breeze!! I have a five-year-old tablet that links with my car DAB radio via Bluetooth, version 3 I think, and all the info is sent, i.e. album, artist and song title, unfortunately the Bluetooth version on this mp3 player does not send any information, everything comes up as unknown, this is a huge disappointment. The quality of the sound sent to my car stereo, and a Bluetooth speaker that I have paired it to is not great and nothing like that of my older tablet / version of Bluetooth. I contacted the seller about the Bluetooth function (track information etc., .not the sound quality) and they confirmed that this is known to them, as to whether this will be, or can be, updated in the future via a firmware update, is unknown to me at the time of writing this review as the seller’s answer was vague. The shuffle feature is limited to any song in any order from the folder you choose to start the shuffle with before it moves randomly to any / all the folders you have put on the supplied memory card, thus playing the folders in any order, again this shuffle arrangement is disappointing, as to whether this can, or will be, updated with a future firmware update is also vague. The seller’s advice was to create play lists, to me, this defeats the purpose of a true shuffle feature. Once the MP3 players display screen has “gone out” the unit automatically goes in to the “hold” position, something I’ve never needed before, it is something that can not be over ridden and a nuisance for obvious reasons, you have to press the on/off button to activate the controls, then eventually the mp3 player returns back to the hold position. The seller says that they are aware of this issue which is with their R&D department and it will be fixed in a future firmware update, again there was no indication as to when this firmware update might be available as these things take time, yeah, yeah, yeah!! I also asked the seller when the case would be available in the UK and asked if it was “a clear full face” as the picture on the Amazon web site looked as though it was open faced. They told me the mp3 player was completely protected and the case would be available in the UK sometime, the delay was down to logistics? I ordered one from the USA, total cost was about £22’s, it took two weeks to arrive, no problem with logistics there then, I’m disappointed to inform that the front display of the player is not protected from possible scratches, as it is an open case, the quality of the case appears to be good, only had it for a few weeks as some reviews say the stitching unravels through use. Can’t really comment on the battery life as I keep it fully charged but I doubt if it is as long as they claim it to be, you will need your own wall plug or if you are not in a hurry a computer, to charge this mp3 player. Although disappointed with the Bluetooth feature, the shuffle function and the automatic hold situation - the sound quality, to me, is worth the sacrifice / inconvenience. It’s like everything else in life, once you purchase something, the grass always appears to be greener on the other side – however I’ll never know as I’m keeping this, happy listening!!

fantastic sound quality!
this is probably one of the best things ive ever bought. the sound is crisp and loud, the bass is thumping and the highs excellent. the screen is clear, i bought some £10 betron earphones and it offers a crisp rich sound, best mp3 player ive ever had, excellent value for money, i had an issue with loading songs onto the player at first but all i needed to do was open the players window on my pc and actually create a Music folder so i can transfer all my songs onto that folder and it worked. the menu is pretty easy to understand - i cant fault it!, its quite heavy as its made of metal with a glass back, plenty of features on the menu to play around with, i put it on max volume and high gain and customised the equilizer to get the best sound out of it

Hopeless Bluetooth
Bluetooth is hopeless. It recognised very few devices, including my Sony headphones. The few devices it did recognise, it refused to connect to. Not fit for purpose. The machine itself felt solid, but the round scroll wheel was hit or miss in its navigation and felt like it wouldn't last a week. Since I couldn't connect any devices to it, I can't comment on sound quality. Maybe this was just a dodgy one, but mine was returned. I'll look elsewhere.

Overpriced mediocre player with issues
Returned this item within hours of receipt. Reasons are: 1) BT proved to be intermittent. While most devices I have did indeed connect, at least half didn't actually work. Example would be my Samsung smart TV (2022 model). H2 found this device fine and connected. The TV remote would even play and pause music on H2 playlist. Unfortunately, no sound! Not a dicky bird from the TV speakers. My LG TV on the other hand had sound, but wouldn't display music info. Now, I know BT can be temperamental sometimes, but my old HUDL 2 which this H2 was to replace worked on all my devices, despite its age, until it finally gave up the ghost a couple of weeks ago. 2) One of the reasons I purchased the H2 was the supposed 'high quality, loseless audio, DSD' etc. By many of the reviews this was supported. However, I found the sound to be extremely thin and tinny. As an audiophile of many years I'm not silly enough to expect too much from such a device, but nevertheless. 3) To be fair, I cannot comment on the battery performance since I didn't have the device long enough to evaluate. And as far as the build quality goes, again can't say for sure, but buttons did feel a little flimsy. Overall my advice, for what it's worth, would be to look elsewhere, as I now will. Though of course, your experience and opinion may vary.

Great product
Very easy to get started with, just add songs to the root of the sd card. Bluetooth works good, the only thing I can complain about is that changing song directly on my bluetooth headphones doesn't seem to work unless the screen is on. Sometimes I can change the song one time but that's it. Other than that it's great, highly recommended!

High quality build, fantastic sound from FLAC
I have decades of music listening experience and have been an Audiophile of sorts since my teens. I listen to music thru my HiFi setup using a variety of media including: Vinyl Records, CD's, Mp3 Music Players as well as sometimes streaming. I also listen thru my Harmon Kardon system in my car quite often. I frankly love listening to CD's as they represent some of the clearest and distortion free audio available. They are not, however, terribly portable:) I wanted to re-burn my 600 + Cd Collection to FLAC and enjoy the advancements in DAC technology over the past decade or so. The DAC in this HIFI Walker Player is likely equal to my current CD Player, though my Onkyo CD Player uses a Wolfson DAC and this Player uses a Burr Brown DAC. Either way, both are better than the DAC's of the 1980's that I first listened to my Cd's with. Prior to purchasing this, I purchased the Pyle branded Lossless Mp3 Player, as well as the AGPTek Hi Lossless Mp3 Player. Both of those were returned for the following reasons: Pyle Player - Seemed poorly built and cheap. It was very lightweight plastic and did not appear that it would hold up to heavy use. Also of note was the flimsy and "coarse" thumb wheel that felt simply terrible and UN-precise. To be fair, I did not even listen to it, just sent it back. AGPTek H01 Player. I wanted to like this Player. I loved the way it felt in the hand, the weight of the Player and the case materials seemed to be of high quality. I also liked the rather precise, machined volume knob on the unit. The whole thing had a high quality, industrial/precise feel to it. From a build standpoint, I loved it. I loaded some FLAC files onto Micro SD Card and had a listen. It sounded fantastic until I noticed the balance appeared skewed to the right channel. I double checked everything and sure enough, the output on the left channel was about half the volume of the right channel. Very disappointing. I simply did not want to deal with an exchange etc., so I simply returned it. Mine may have simply been a fluke that got past quality control, but I simply did not want to deal with a faulty second unit, so I opted for the HIFI Walker H2. (Which I suspect is the next newest version of the AGPTek branded H01? When I received the HiFI Walker and opened the box, I was again struck by the weight, feel and quality of the build. After loading a few FLAC files and turning it on, I noticed that the software/interface looked VERY similar to the AGPTek H01. The build quality of both were outstanding. The thumb wheel is not as smooth and fluid as the one on my much older Sandisk Sansa Fuze, but it works fine. The file system and interface takes a few minutes to get used to if you are coming from another Player, but...no big deal. It is easily understood and easy to navigate, in my opinion. How does it sound?! Perhaps the most important question I suppose.... It sounds FANTASTIC! Some people say that they cannot hear a difference between 320 kbps Mp3 and FLAC. I understand that and do not intend on trying to convince anyone otherwise. For me however, the difference between the Mp3 files I have listened to for some 10 years on my very good sounding Sansa Fuze Player, and the FLAC files I listened to on the HIFI Walker Player were dramatically different. Now, I understand that I threw into the mix....two completely different Players, but rest assured...I also listened to the FLAC files thru the Sansa Fuze and the difference in sound quality...especially the low bass clarity and "cleanness" was easily heard. The HIFI Walker simply sounded "more like a CD" than the Sansa Fuze. Keep in mind that the Sansa Fuze is 10 years older, but it has always been noted for very good, neutral sound. The HIFI Walker provides the same neutral, very clean sound...there just seems to be "more of it". I am quite amazed at the sound stage depth as well as the dynamic range of this Player. I am NOT easily amazed. I have only had the Player for about a week, so I cannot attest to its durability. I will be putting it in a case and treating it gently I suppose, as I do not want anything to happen to it lol. Battery life? Seems fine at the moment but I have not run it for several hours to determine the accuracy of the manufacturers claim of 25+ hours. I am a very critical listener and person in general. I spent a week pouring over reviews...many of which appeared suspiciously worded...(bad sentence syntax, word usage etc) I checked the DAC specs on everything that was 300.00 dollars or less. I did not want to spend 1000.00 dollars on essentially an Mp3 Player, heck, I could buy new speakers for that! Some of these new Chinese Players are to be avoided I suppose...some are likely just fine. Determining which is which is the hard part...which is why I originally bought two...then a third via Amazon, because there was simply not enough information out there to assure me I was getting the right Player. So I got them in my hands, tried them out and sent back what I couldn't live with. If you are looking for great sound from Lossless Music files, regardless of type, I heartily recommend giving the HIFI Walker H2 a try. Ken UPDATE: After using this for a few weeks, I have continued to enjoy this little Player. I did want to note, that the very low bass on High Dynamic Range songs really punches with authority. It is neither boomy, nor exaggerated, rather it is prominent and clean. It has just a bit more solid punch in the very low end than my Onkyo CD Player, which uses a Wolfson DAC vs the Burr Brown DAC in this Player. I suspect the DAC is the difference here. My opinion remains the same, a VERY nice sounding Player! Update #2: I tried this on a new JVC car stereo I just purchased for our second car. Middle of the road stereo “quality wise”....but has USB and AUX inputs. I wanted to note that I am unable to use the “line out” with this JVC Stereo because it distorts as if the gain is too high on the player. The line out is simply too “hot” for this stereo’s AUX input. When I switch to the “headphone out” it works just fine with the AUX input...nice, clear sound. However...I noticed the annoying “loud click” between tracks that a couple others have mentioned. It is very distracting and could prove harmful to one,s speakers if listening at high volume. This issue DOES NOT OCCUR if using the H2’s Line Out. Can’t explain it...but that’s the way it is. My solution, unfortunately, was to buy a 256 gb SD Card, load the same FLAC music, and simply leave it inserted in the JVC car stereo USB input. I use the H2’s Line Out in the other car....a BMW with the stock stereo/Harmon Kardon setup. Just be aware of these quirks. I still love the sound and playbCk of the H2.
