(deeply) Flawed Genius
As a game expansion, this is excellent. The additional scenarios and game play elements really build on the already mighty foundations of Mage Knight. So this review is really about the quality of the expansion's components... I knew all about the issues going in, but I was still shocked by the way the manual had been crammed into the box! Just: Wow. The cards are indeed a shade different in colour, but once sleeved, I think they're fine (I play almost entirely solo, by the way). The two large faction discs match the Lost Legion version in terms of feel, but the artwork clashes with the general tone of the base game. Thankfully in use they cover the offending tacky artwork. The creature counters are notorious for being a different size. They are indeed, and they are noticeable when mixed with the base game counters even when dispersed across the board. A couple of hex replacement counters are included, and the artwork on these is also somewhat sub-par. The pale blue temples are particularly poorly executed. Last of all, the plastic figure reaches a new low for the Mage Knight series. The base game and Lost Legion figures are very cheap and nasty (and extremely poorly designed and modelled), but the Tezla model is appalling. It's modeled to such a different scale to the others that it has had to be placed on some sort of rock, just to give it some extra height! The paintwork is also very unpleasant. All in all, it's like a piece of tat from a discount box of Christmas crackers. Very embarrassing! To be generous then, I think it's still playable. The Lost Legion had its own production issues, and there are plenty of examples of counter-flagging problems from the first two sets, so it's nothing new. There's a lot of fun to be had here however, and let's face it, what choice do you have if you want to further develop the game?

Poor Quality control
New reprint of the original with all the problems fixed and includes an errata card for Krang expansion. There is are a few misprints in the rule book the main one being that there is no site description card but very please that Wizkids fixed all the other issues.

Good thing you can get replacements from the WizKids replacement ...
Tokens are smaller than in the base game and the cards have a different tint in the back. Good thing you can get replacements from the WizKids replacement system. Haven't been able to try this out yet. Still waiting my replacement components.

Can confirm that the printing issues with cards/tokens still exists, so it's kind of a dice roll as to which version you'll get. That said, WizKids has created a "replacement package" option on their support site -- if you purchase this and your components have the issues from the first edition, you can submit your receipt and select that option and they'll send you a full replacement. Pretty great. As for the content itself, it's more Mage Knight. The new hero is interesting but not groundbreaking, but the new enemies really ratchet up the fear of "what's under here" when you explore tiles. You probably don't NEED this expansion if you don't play Mage Knight a lot (Lost Legion is the must-have expansion), but it's a nice add-on for the hardcore player who spends a lot of time with the game. And man, that customer service. Perfect.

It looks like the later prints of this item have fixed some of the production issues mentioned in other reviews. I received my copy and the token/card sizes have been fixed and now match the tokens/cards from the core game. The token/card colour is still a bit off, but much harder to notice than the size issue was. The instruction book is still rammed into the bottom of the box which results in a bent book, but can be fixed by leaving it under a heavy book for a few hours. The text in the instruction book is also insanely small compared to the core game/expansions. In the end, the new scenarios are fun and the new character is fun (despite the mini being pretty ugly), specially if you're a Druid lover like me! :)

Molto materiale e regole aggiuntive. Se cercate nuove sfide eccole qui
