I was looking for the replacement charger for my Creative Series II T40 speakers. The charger I got from T-Power works like a charm so far. Don't worry that the charger's output is V24 - it still works with the speakers.

Ok, at £20, it is about a third cheaper than the original power supply is. It is smaller, lighter, and interestingly the wrong voltage, and probably the incorrect amperage too. However, it does work. So that is a bonus. Where there is an issue, and other people have commented on this too, is the "electrical rustling" that can be heard when you use the volume knob. It is irritating. I tested my T40 speakers with a Creative power supply, and there wasn't any "electrical rustling" to be heard. Hence three stars.

Plugged it in, connected it to the Creative speakers and they did a Lazarus! Some reviewers here have shown a limited knowledge of electricity - just because a replacement transformer does not have EXACTLY the same output as the original does not mean it will not perform adequately.

Output is only 23v-25v. The speakers require 27v. I bought it and it doesnt work - delivers a very crackly audio

I was given a set of T40 II without original power adapter. The back of the unit says it requires an absurd non-standard 27V DC ! It was being used with an unregulated 10V@1.2A (measured 14V open circuit) old style heavy iron wound transformer plug in wall adapter. The T40 had been wired to an old TV.I understand the earlier T40 require 20V AC (which if converted to DC with simple bridge rectifier and smoothing capacitor happens to be around 27-28V DC btw)Creative Labs UK service advises me a replacement genuine power adapter would cost 30 quid.I haven't yet purchased this product. The product description does not mention the actual current rating. The original Creative Labs switched mode power brick is rated at 27V DC @ 1.7 Amps. (Older unit appears to be a simple wound transformer rated at 20V AC @ 2.8 Amps)I thought I'd hook up my old variable voltage 'linear' power supply to the T40 II. At what I would consider normal listening volume, the 'average' current drawn seemed to be around 100mA, although 'peak' current drawn WILL be higher. However the T40 II continued to work when I wound the voltage down to 12V DC ! It did eventually cut out when it dropped to 8V DC.I also tried a 12V@ 1.5A switched mode power adapter from a wifi router and this worked too on brief testing.The barrel plug seems to be the standard 5.5mm outer diameter/2.1mm internal diameter but the barrel may need to be longer than normal.It may be possible to find a 24V power brick with the correct size barrel plug.I notice the T40 II has a docking station socket on the back. I have no idea whether a lower operating voltage will affect this port. I suspect not.If you google 'fixing creative T40 speakers hexus', you'll find a thread describing the T40, which apparently uses a Class D power amplifier chip with operating voltage range of from 10V up to 36V. I also found a schematic for T40 II preamp power supply circuit on another site and youtube, which is designed to deliver 16V DC.An old 19V @3A laptop power brick would probably work but you'd need to find one with the right size barrel plug, unless you change it. A Kodak easyshare printer dock power adapter rated at 24V@2A may have the right 2.1mm plug on them, but don't quote me.

Hunted high and low for some extortionate pricing for this item. Works how it should and much much cheaper than going back to Creative for the original power supply.

Not really compatible, the jack does not make contact ... useless
