Love the Rugged Book for my Ipad. It protects it when it gets knocked over on to the floor. When it’s open you can position the screen at the angle that’s correct for you. I love having the key board attached to the screen and not having to type on the screen. Great product.

Update: going on nearly a week of daily use and have had no issues at all! Also, I found a way to avoid putting stress on the hinge and extending it’s life. If you hold the case upright with the hinge edge on a flat surface, and then pull down by the keyboard to lay it flat, this reduces the strain on the magnetic clips so the iPad won’t pop out. Putting a little bit of WD-40 on each metal hinge also helped A LOT.The small ‘globe’ button on the function key row doesn’t seem to do anything on the home-screen of iPadOS. I’m pretty sure it’s supposed to pull up a browser like Safari or Chrome. HOWEVER, I have found that it pulls up the emoji keyboard when typing!! So technically this keyboard does have a dedicated emoji button!I’ve only used it for a week at this point, but I love this thing! I purchased this fully knowing the issues with the hinge breaking after a short amount of time, but at $100, this is fine. I love how sturdy everything is, everything being fully encased in solid rubber.I LOVE the holder for the Apple Pencil being laid into the keyboard itself, although it does rattle around a little bit. Also, when the case is detached from the keyboard, technically you can magnetically attach the Apple Pencil to the case on the bottom side, just like with the 2nd gen Apple Pencil!The keyboard is great, although the keys are a little click-y for my taste. It’s so cool how there are 7 colors to choose from for the keyboard backlight, and 3 levels of brightness.The keyboard doesn’t have the ‘instant-on’ feature like others as it is Bluetooth based which naturally makes it turn on slower, however, I didn’t find the extra 1 to 2 seconds annoying. I have not found the typing experience to be laggy and have not lost connection (yet). I love how the keyboard charges via USB C! I was fully expecting micro USB so that was a happy addition.The only issue I have to complain about is the level of effort to put the iPad itself into the detachable case. There are two extended lips on the case where it attaches to the keyboard that the iPad has to clear for it to snap into, and I honestly thought I was going to crack the screen trying to snap it in. Additionally, the case is so tight around the iPad (not necessarily a bad thing), that a screen protector would probably get messed up when inserting (unless it was one of those softer film-like screen protectors).Also, the headphone jack and lightning cable port covers don’t lock into the case at all, so they will start to poke out of the case after many times pulling them out to charge/use headphones.This case hits 99% of all my requirements for the BEST iPad case ever. The only thing that would make it 100% perfect would be a hinge stand on the back of the detachable case like the Logitech Combo Touch case for watching media or taking notes without the keyboard attached. Also, if they made this exact keyboard case for the 12.9 inch iPad or any of the newer models, I would throw my money at Zagg.

I absolutely love this case and keyboard from ZAGG! It’s a bit on the heavier side, but that’s actually a plus — I know my iPad is always perfectly protected.The quality is great, made from solid, durable plastic. I did have a bit of trouble putting the case on at first, but aside from that, everything has been perfect.What I love most is how smoothly the keyboard works — it’s fast, responsive, and syncs perfectly with my movements. Typing feels effortless and super comfortable.And the USB-C cable is just perfect — I can charge my phone, iPad, and keyboard with the same charger. So convenient and practical. Honestly, such a great setup!

The case’s protective features are great - it’s “rugged” as they say. It seems really durable, closes nicely, and the hinge works well. You can easily remove the keyboard if you don’t need it as well. Firstly, this listing absolutely lied - it does not have backlit keys. Secondly, the big design flaw I face is the case’s functionality with the pencil. The pencil holder doesn’t grip well and the pencil will fall out if the case is held up at a certain angle. Most importantly, there is absolutely no way to charge the pencil with the case on. In order to charge the pencil, you’ll either need to buy an external compatible charger or remove the case entirely (which is a hassle). Buying an external charger also seems like a hassle when you have to worry about charging the iPad, case and now a pencil separately (thankfully the case stays charged the longest). Very disappointed with Zagg.

Really sturdy and well made. Downsides are it’s kind of heavy and also I didn’t realize that I would actually want a touch pad. It just feels weird to use the touch screen while using a keyboard. You have to switch from touching the keyboard to the screen and if you are filling out a form with many fields it becomes annoying. Not to mention a mouse pointer is more precise that your finger.

After looking over all the reviews I decided to purchase this product. It arrived on time and after unboxing the product the product looked to be of good quality. Fit my iPad nicely, connected via blue tooth quickly and worked perfectly, but this product doesn't have an indicator LED on the keyboard to let you know if its on or not and no indication to let you know the blue tooth is on or working... but after talking to customer service, he explained that the keyboard lights up and my contrast was all the way down. It also has a few different colors to choose from.Just after a week of owning this device I was out on my deck early one morning with my iPad, I went inside to get a cup of coffee and it started to rain heavily. By the time I got to my iPad (within a few seconds) the keyboard was soaking wet... I brought my iPad in and tilted it sideways into the sink to drain off the water and there was quite a bit of water in the keyboard. I tried to use keyboard and strange symbols came up. I removed the keyboard from my iPad and used a small shop-vac to suck out the remaining water and stored it in a large zip lock bag with rice and several silicon bags for several days to dry up the keyboard. After 5 days I connected the keyboard again with the iPad and turned it on and tried to connect to blue tooth. I took several tries to connect (error connection failed) and after several tries iPad finally connected to blue tooth. I tested out the keyboard again and some keys would not type and some keys typed funky symbols. I called customer service and explained what had happened and he said my Zagg has a 1 year warranty and they will replace it free of charge. He is shipping a brand new Zagg with a prepaid return label, he said that they will charge my CC until they get the damaged keyboard returned and will credit my CC.Awesome Customer Service....

I bought this for my school iPad because the ambulance company I worked for had them and I love them. Lots of rubber around the whole thing for shock protection, I have a space for my Apple Pencil, keyboard is though enough to support the weight of the iPad so I don’t need a stand on the back and I can detach the keyboard to use with my computer. Very compact and handy little work station. Only problem I do have is the covers for the charging port and the headphone jack will lose integrity and fall off over time with regular use.

The keyboard case is solid and rugged. I like that feature the best. On the negative side, the keyboard action is loud. The return key is too small. The spacebar key 'sticks' on one side, making a popping sound. So, if rugged is your main concern this is a very good keyboard. If a quiet more 'real' keyboard experience is important then you may want to consider other products.

This is my second one - the first lasted close on 5 years to the day! I use it daily and tend to be a bit rough with stuff and this is brilliant- only reason for one less star is new design is a bit different and I prefer the old one - the keyboard is slightly different so I’m still adjusting. Highly recommend this product.

I'm in love <3 This is THE best case I've ever had. Funny story: I had a Zagg ruggedfolio for my iPad Air 1. It lasted beautifully for about 4 years until I spilled water all over the keys like a dummy. After that I could not afford a new one, so I bought some no-name keyboard case to use. Within 6 months, 3 of the keys had rubbed off, it was skipping numbers and letters and was just generally horrible. So when I got sick of that crap I dished out for a new Rugged Book. Needless to say, I LOVE this case with a passion!!! So durable, heavy but worth it for the amount this keyboard does, and all-around awesome! I like it so much I told my uncle about it and he got one for his iPad too. Love <3 <3 <3
