OXO Good Grips 2-Piece Silicone Egg Poacher Set

There are some negative reviews on here which I just don’t understand. These poachers totally transformed my ability to make poached eggs. They’re easy to clean, work every time, fold up for storage, and two do fit in a bigger pan. Some people talk about the egg white escaping - not fresh enough eggs. I never EVER write reviews but I felt like this product is actually excellent so wanted to support it. Highly recommended.

These actually do work. They are about the best I've tried so far. Trick is to get the water to just under a rolling boil and use a timer. Only drawback is , as others have said, they are quite large and so difficult to get two of them in one pan. Plus the pans have to be quite deep.

Great product. I've never mastered the art of poaching eggs but this product works well. As others have said is best for cooking one egg at a time unless a large pan. The poacher has a water level mark so make sure the pan has enough water to go up to the mark. My cooking tips are to make sure the water is barely simmering with little bubbles and not boiling. Add a few drops of white vinegar to the water before you put the egg in. Make sure you don't knock the poacher whilst dropping the egg in (it goes through the hole and into the bottom of the poacher) if you move the poacher before the white has had time to set it will escape. For a runny yoke and set white whilst cooking one large supermarket egg it needs about 3 mins 45 seconds. Once the time is up lift out the poacher and then use a slotted spoon to remove the egg. Place egg on kitchen paper to remove excess water briefly then serve. Very easy to clean just rinse.

I was watching this item for a few months to see if the price would decrease. It didn't, but I still thought the concept was good so I eventually bought it. However, I was unimpressed. To use both poachers, a large wide saucepan is needed with quite a lot of boiling water. Seems a bit of a waste. It's easy to crack the eggs into the poachers but some of the egg white 'leaks' out the base of the poachers into the bubbling water. In using this product, I was hoping that my quest to have the perfect poached egg shape would be achieved. Unfortunately they were the same as always. I just think this oxo product is very overpriced for the result you get.

Having recently started eating much healthier I had a few poached eggs eating out, I wanted to see what I could do by myself. At first I tried doing the water vortex technique which is by far the best way to poach an egg, but when I wanted more than one it became a little troublesome as they come into contact and don't hold their shape as well so I thought I'd give these a go. I'm glad I did - First use it worked instantly and I had lovely poached eggs. They are a little big in my opinion so you do need to use a bigger saucepan that expected but overall they allow you to do two at a time which for me is all I wanted. They couldn't be easier to use, simply wash them before use as you should do with anything new. Plop them in a saucepan, fill the water to the line marked on the funnel. Get the water to a rolling boil (where it is just about bubbling - make sure its not overly boiling, you just want a light boil), and drop the eggs into the funnel. It then falls them into the below chamber where the water can surround them but keeps them in place. Follow the instructions on the little guide that comes with these and you'll be eating poached eggs which are done perfectly!

These poachers are huge, requiring a massive saucepan to reach the required fill level, which then in turn takes ages to reach a simmer due to the volume of water. They are also poorly designed, the holes are too big which allows the egg white to seep through into the saucepan. Finally, the hole through which the egg sinks into the perforated basket easily becomes clogged with egg white, which means the air bubbles from the simmering water create an air pocket and tip the whole thing over. I normally love OXO Good Grips products, I have many of their utensils, but this egg poaching set is absolutely useless.

Makes a fabulous poached egg

They are okay, not perfect as a lot of the egg whites escape from the holes so end up with a much smaller poached egg than expected. The area to hold the egg whilst it cooks is also oversized, could probably fit 2 eggs inside but then it might be cooked through and my eggs are definitely not small ones. I will no doubt revert back to the cling film way of doing it as no egg escapes and the egg is a perfect shape.

Fare l’uovo in camicia non è più un problema, pratico, facile da usare e da pulire, lo consiglio

Funciona muy bien, solo hay que bajarle al fuego para que no se muevan con el agua hirviendo

Super happy about this product. It's non sticky and poached eggs are always amazing with these poachers.

Avec cet ustensile, impossible de rater les œufs pochés. Lavage au lave vaisselle sans problème.
