MAC Knife Professional series 2-piece starter knife set PRO-20, MTH-80 Pro series 8" Chef's knife w/dimples and PKF-50 Pro series 5" Paring knife, handcrafted in Seki, Japan

I purchased these Japanese steel knives as an anniversary gift after seeing numerous recommendations. My husband already owns several chef knives, but not this style. The knives are well manufactured, nice looking, lightweight, and well balanced, making them easy to handle and control. The steel quality appears great, and the blades perform smoothly during food preparation. Considering this is a two-piece set, the price is reasonable. The larger knife features a dimpled blade, which helps reduce food sticking. Overall, this is a solid, high-quality set that complements an existing knife collection well.

Easy to keep sharp when maintained, easy to keep clean (keep it dry) and simply a joy to hold. The balance of these knives is simply incredible. The sharpness and edge geometry of these knives really make them feel like you are cutting through air. The only thing that needs addressed with these knives is maintenance. They are advertised as "stainless steel" and when compared to other japanese knives they DEFINITELY ARE. However they arent a traditional "western" stainless steel and will absolutely patina if not taken care of. Do not leave these in the sink, do not dish wash them, and wipe them dry after using them.

I've been using them for several months and they're great. I wash and dry them after each use and I haven't had any problems with rust. I've only used a ceramic rod to keep the edge, haven't had to sharpen yet. Nimble, sharp and comfortable in my hands.

Fit and finish of this knife is amazing, razor sharp out of the box as expected. Owned 2 MAC knives prior to this purchase. Purchased a MAC knife prior to this purchase, from a dealer on Amazon not an authorized dealer or distributor of MAC. The fit, finish, and sharpness out of the box was definitely not the same, possibly a counterfeit? Anyway just a word of caution only purchase from MAC or authorized distributors. We’ve had these for about 2 months and they’ve been great! They’ve been super sharp and were thinking to get a knife sharpener, they’re still super sharp but definitely will need some sharpening in the next couple months to keep the original sharpness. I was shocked at how nice it was to cut potatoes. Like cutting through butter.

Very sharp and great utility knives. The weight feels good in the hand and the quality is good.
