I mainly use my laptop for gaming and work, and this SSD has made everything much smoother and more responsive. The PCIe 4.0 speeds really stand out, and Samsung’s Magician software makes it easy to monitor and optimise performance. One thing to note is that it can run a little warm, so if your laptop doesn’t have great cooling, keep an eye on temperatures. It’s also on the pricey side, but considering the speed, reliability, and storage capacity, I think it’s worth it. I’ve been using the Samsung 990 PRO 2TB, and these drives are simply perfect. They deliver top-tier speed and reliability. Since I know these "beasts" run quite hot, I made sure to equip them with a solid heatsink from the start to ensure optimal thermal management and longevity. The units I received already had the latest firmware installed, so everything has been running perfectly right out of the box. Highly recommended if you want the best performance for your build.

Absolutely amazing NVMe M.2 drive. Not too sure on the technical side of things (as I don't have software to check for good/bad sectors etc. At the moment (for 4/5 months) it runs well and seemingly didn't fail on me. It came in good condition and is a great option for storage in any use (studio, gaming, file storage, etc) and much easier to install than say a Hard disk drive or a SATA SSD. However. The price now skyrocketed for some reason? Not sure if its due to RAM or AI, but the price now is kind of silly. 1TB for what near 180? Too much for 1 drive. Should be at least 100 tops (imo). Worth buying if on a sale. Regardless great product.

Speeds are exactly as advertised, hitting around 7,450 MB/s read and 6,900 MB/s write, which makes it perfect for gaming, video editing, and heavy multitasking. It stays cool thanks to Samsung’s efficient controller design, even under sustained loads. Installation was simple, and it was instantly recognised by the motherboard (Gigabyte Z790 AORUS PRO X). The Samsung Magician software is also a nice touch for firmware updates and performance monitoring. Overall, it’s an incredibly fast, reliable, and high-quality SSD that delivers premium performance. A great investment for any high-end PC build.

These are fast drives. Mine came with the updated (3B2QJXD7) firmware already applied. Manufacturing production date was end of May 2023. This was 2 months prior to the purchase date, so these are confirmed new stock not the older drives with bad firmware. Installation was easy enough. The drive comes in a box a little wider than a phone, with a slip out plastic tray with the drive held in that. No m.2 screw or mini screwdriver is included. Make sure you've got the one that came with your motherboard, or order another. You'll also need a micro screwdriver for the screw as they're very small. Depending on your motherboard and GPU setup, you may also need to move the GPU to access the m.2 slot to install. Some motherboards (thankfully) are now starting to use clips for the drive rather than screw stand offs. After installation, the BIOS picked up the drive on power on. If you're doing a clean install of Windows, you can continue as normal. Otherwise, Samsung do offer two tools to help move your existing Windows install to the new drive. These are Samsung Data Migration and Samsung Magician. As the name suggests Data Migration will allow you to clone your existing drive to the new one so you can boot from it. It works really well, but may take some time if you're moving directly from a Harddisk to NVMe M.2. The Samsung Magician gives you some additional information about the drive and allows you to resize some dead (unused) space on the drive to help prolong the life span of the drive. It's only really needed if you're writing a large amount of data constantly to the drive with it near full. But it's a nice feature never the less. I've got two of these drives and they're on a 10Gig network and are heavily hit and not had any issues with heat, so you probably don't need a heat sink. The price of the drive with an heat sink is a little excessive if you do want one. Check other listings on amazon for aftermarket heatsinks that clip on in the same way... but again depending on your motherboard it may already include a heatsink for the m.2 slot. Overall, a really nice purchase if you want very fast read/write speeds with a large amount of space.

Recently SSD price increased much as crazy, but this one increased slightly less than other products. That's the reason I purchase it. Unfortunately, its Write speed at 6650MBps and Read speed about 6800MBps on my PC which are lower than expected.

Compré el Samsung 990 PRO de 1TB para actualizar mi equipo y la diferencia se nota desde el primer arranque. Las velocidades de lectura y escritura son muy cercanas a lo que promete el fabricante, y en tareas pesadas como juegos, edición de vídeo o transferencias grandes, el rendimiento se mantiene estable sin caídas. La instalación fue sencilla y el disco se reconoció al instante. Con el disipador de la placa base, las temperaturas se mantienen bajo control incluso en sesiones largas, algo que valoro mucho porque evita el thermal throttling. Además, el software Samsung Magician facilita comprobar el estado del SSD y actualizar el firmware. Lo único que podría mejorar es el precio, que ha subido bastante en comparación con años anteriores. Aun así, por velocidad, estabilidad y eficiencia energética, me parece una de las mejores opciones en PCIe 4.0.
