Batman Arkham City: Armored Edition (Nintendo Wii U)

Fantastic game! Excellent combat, great narrative and first appearance of the series in a Nintendo console. I would argue that the Wii U version might be the best console-wise, for three reasons: a) you get all DLC that was released separately on other consoles (or in the GOTY version), b) it adds a Sonar mode which highlights points of interest nearby on the Gamepad, and c) it also has the Battle Armored Tech Mode (BAT Mode) that allows Batman to accrue energy when activated to inflict increased damage. Buy it already!

When I heard that this game was being released I was jumping with joy. The first instalment (Arkham Asylum) was spectacular the way that they made a Batman game where you play as the Dark Knight himself. I’m a huge Batman fan so to see a game made where you play as him and also fight all his villains made me a happy bunny but when they announced Arkham City I was excited but at the same time worried that they would ruin the game because of how good Asylum was. Luckily Rocksteady didn’t disappoint. The game is brilliant and they blew it out of proportion with a lot more villains and a lot more kick-ass Batman action. Story Batman Arkham City sets place after Arkham Asylum where all the villains of Gotham have been moved into this new prison like location where they roam free in a small city that is confined by a wall. Bruce Wayne is kidnapped by Hugo Strange at the beginning of the game and finds himself inside Arkham City. He manages to break free and then from that point on you play as the legendary Dark Knight. Batman then has to fight for his life and solve problems and mysteries that are going down inside the city. During the story you meet Batman’s most iconic villains and companies to basically make a game this is utterly brilliant. Gameplay The gameplay in the Batman games is similar to each other but in the new game they have added some new features to make the game a lot more enjoyable and harder for the player. The enemies in the game are a lot harder to defeat and also the thugs that are roaming around are better equipped and more aware of Batman’s presence. The reason I love the Batman games so much is the game makes you play as the Dark Knight. It makes you tackle each challenge and task as if you were the Bat himself. Throughout the game you get to upgrade Batman skills and abilities to make him the iconic character that you see in the comic books and the modern day films. The combat is good, even though it is just mashing button the on screen experience is enjoyable and amazing to watch. You also get to explore the whole of Arkham City which is really fun because it’s a lot bigger than Asylum’s map and there is a lot more to do. There are a lot of optional missions and objectives that you can complete in the game which makes the game have hours of playable content, also with Arkham City they brought in the feature that you can play as Robin and Catwoman but you had to purchase the DLC for it or the collectors edition of the game which is quite disappointing but on the other hand it opens up a whole new experience to the player. Gameplay changes the way you go about doing objectives and tasks in Arkham city due to the characters abilities. Graphics/Feel of the Game The graphics are brilliant in the Arkham City game, good use of lighting in the environment and also the way that all the characters look and are animated. The map is dark in places where it needs to be, but not too dark that you struggle to see what is going on in the area. The environment has been made to make it look as if the city is being run by villains, so windows and vehicles are broken and parts of buildings are on fire. It gives you that feel that you are in a dangerous place and the people who are in the place aren’t going to invite you in for tea and biscuits unless they were going to beat you up afterwards. The way the game runs is point to point. So you do a mission and then once you have done that mission you go to another mission that is on the other side of the map or just down the street. There is a point as well where Batman is fighting for his life and you have to do a few missions back to back because he is dying, so it makes you go down certain routes for a part of the game but other than that you don’t have to do missions straight away you can go explore the map and find collectibles. The Riddler puzzles are still in the game too so for people that enjoyed them in Arkham Asylum will love them in this because there are more and they are a lot harder. Voice Actors One of the best features about this game by far is the voice actors. They got the voice actors from the animated series to play some of the characters. The ones that clearly stand out are Batman played by Kevin Conroy and The Joker by Mark Hamill because the game has these two actors playing the main two characters it make the experience for any true Batman fan a very mind blowing and amazing game to play. The Positives and Negatives +All the iconic characters and villains are present in the game + The environment suits the game very well + The storyline is full of twists and keeps players engaged right until the end -You have to purchase DLC to play as Robin and Catwoman (Unless you purchase a brand new copy) -There are a lot of side missions that don’t really add to the story but are still enjoyable to play -Combat kind of gets repetitive towards the end due to mashing buttons The Score In all fairness to the game there is hardly anything I can fault with it. It flows brilliantly, the character voicing and animation is outstanding and the whole game makes you feel as if you were Batman and you were part of the DC Universe. For these reasons this game gets a well deserved score.

This is a fun game but there is a glitch in the included Harley Quinn s Revenge DLC. It can only be played through once. If you go back into the episode after completion, it will kick you out back to the title screen at the first save point. You can get around it by playing the episode on a different save file but this is far from ideal, especially if you started it on your main story save file and missed a couple for the collectible targets. You will never get 100% on that save file. If that is important for you than do not buy this version of the game. There is no patch planned for this problem. In america they are replacing discs (at the customers expense) but there is no response from WB Games in Europe when contacting them. As a side note the stock phrases that the inmates use can get wear a little thin after a while. Both me and my husband were fed up with the almost constant use of the 'b' word whenever a Catwoman episode would come about. I had a lot of fun with this game. There is so much content. It's just a shame that a an easily spotted glitch was missed.

This is one game with no link to a storyline from a movie even though it shows the Dark Knight in his new gear. It has a great storyline to it and it's not just Batman you get to play as, with Cat Women as one of the others your able to play as in the game it also shows every crook from the Batman story and I don't just meen the movie storys ether. It's a hard game to play but is well worth it for the fun and challenge's in it, with so much new gear for the Dark Knight & Cat Women to use you'll be amazed by the way yo can use it and all the styles of fighting you can use on the villans and there teams. This is one game where you do feel like your the hero in it.

Get it on another platform, on WiiU it's an obvious quick and messy port with no effort put into QA - I got to play it for about 30 minutes before it did nothing but crash.

Very weak. After 30 minutes i sold it. It is worth 1€. First part was much better. Graphic is nice.

‘Arkham City’ is the second entry in the Arkham series of videogames, and serves as a direct sequel to ‘Arkham Asylum’. The story takes place about a year after the conclusion of that earlier game. You play as the Dark Knight, in a third-person adventure – involving lots of action (fighting) as well as strategy, detective work and puzzle solving. For this game, part of Gotham City has been sectioned off behind fortified walls, serving as a huge prison to house all sorts of criminals and other undesirables – and it’s here, in what’s known as Arkham City, that you must work out what’s going on, figure out who’s behind it, and stop them from completing their evil plans. This is a vastly expanded world to play in, and there are lots of enemies to fight ... from Bane to Poison Ivy, from Mr Freeze to the Penguin. The 'big' villains are the Joker (with Harley Quinn), Hugo Strange, and Ra's al Ghul. And, throughout the game, there's lots of puzzles to solve and death traps to survive as created by the Riddler. Arkham City is an open world environment, and you have total control over Batman – who is able to demonstrate amazing free-flow combat, as well as an arsenal of gadgets. It's a game involving fantastic graphics, a great soundtrack, wonderful voice acting, and an interesting story (written by Paul Dini). It is rather more diffuse as a plot as compared to the earlier 'Asylum', but the world in this game is far more immense and allows for multiple stories to be developed. If you enjoyed ‘Arkham Asylum’ (or any of the other games in this series), you’ll like this one. The Wii U version of this game is the best available - and includes the unique 'B.A.T' upgraded suit (basically, electric shock gloves for combat). The Wii U version is also the 'Game of the Year' edition - which comes with many extras: Harley Quinn's Revenge, Arkham City Skins Pack, Challenge Map Pack, Catwoman Pack, Nightwing Pack, and the Robin Pack. I thoroughly recommend this game.

A wild entry into the batman series and a solid game on the Wii U.

Enorme, c'est le mot. Enorme affaire que cette édition importée. 24 euros neuf sous blister, frais de port compris alors que le jeu en France flirte avec les 60 euros un peu partout. Version française et tout, nickel. Bref, merci Amazon. Enorme ensuite en ce qui concerne le jeu. Hallucinant, superbe, magnifique... Le plaisir du jeu et le plaisir visuel associés en font une véritable perle, un jeu inoubliable. Les décors, les personnages, on se croirait dans un film. D'ailleurs je rêve d'une adaptation ciné de Batman ayant cette atmosphère sombre, malsaine et violente, à l'opposé des Batman laborieux et prétentieux de Nolan. Vraiment, n'hésitez pas, un des meilleurs jeux qui soit.

Il gioco di per sé è fantastico e il web è pieno di recensioni, quindi andrò a parlare solo di com'è la conversione Wii U. Prima di tutto l'elefante nella stanza: sì, ha un framerate più basso rispetto alle altre versioni in alcuni momenti. È un problema? Assolutamente no, anche perché perdere un paio di frame a fronte di una maggiore definizione, anti-aliasing e v-sync credo che siano sopportabilissimi. E poi non ho mai capito questa ossessione per il framerate. Sì, più alto è meglio, ma ci si gioca tranquillamente e se si è presi dall'azione non ci si fa neanche caso. E d'altronde avendo il framerate sbloccato negli spazi chiusi ci si può anche inebriare di lunghe fasi a 40-45fps. Per me non è una questione rilevante e non mi impedisce di definire quella Wii U la versione migliore del gioco: tra contenuti aggiuntivi (costumi, abilità, eccetera), grafica migliore e funzionalità del gamepad è difficile non considerarla tale. In particolare mi ha impressionato l'efficacia con cui è usato il gamepad, che è stato integrato anche ingame nel guanto destro di Batman, e che viene usato oltre che come comodissima mappa touch, anche per scansionare le stanze durante le sequenze investigative, per hackerare, ascoltare voci registrate o chiamate ingame... la lista è bella lunga: in generale posso dire che l'utilizzo del gamepad in questo porting è qualcosa di ottimo, si vede che gli sviluppatori hanno voluto davvero sfruttarne le potenzialità, ed anzi, potrebbe essere il titolo Wii U (tra quelli che ho giocati) che sfrutta il gamepad nel modo più completo e competente. Lo consiglio davvero tantissimo.

Texto y Voces en Castellano. Perfecto, barato. Es un juego genial. Se ver perfecto se oye genial. Yo he tengo a veces problemas con las voces de la gente, no se porque suena solo si pongo el modo PAD, pero solo a aveces, lo que me hace pensar que es un Bug... pero me apaño bien. está tremendo!

Il titolo si presenta come una action dalle meccaniche solide volto ad un approcio stealth molto amichevole. Batman è molto forte, e non avrà difficoltà ad affrontare orde di nemici nei corpo a corpo, il gioco però premia molto i giocatori che useranno l'ambiente a proprio vantaggio, cogliendo i nemici di sorpresa grazie ad una notevole varietà di strategie applicabili in ogni situazione, ma senza punire troppo gli errori. Avrete a disposizione una buona varietà di gadget già dall'inizio, e man mano che andrete avanti nuovi strumenti vi permetteranno di ampliare ancor di più il modo in cui affronterete il gioco e i vostri avversari, e offrendo spunti interessanti per gli enigmi. Le ambientazioni sono curate, e la città è di dimensioni discrete, sebbene sarete comunque in grado di attraversarla in pochi minuti planando. Il prezzo è molto vantaggioso, consigliato.
