In black and white
Although very informative, not enough maps and all images are in black and white.

Great book!
Bought as a gift for somebody travelling to Japan. They found it invaluable for prepping their trip, so Iโm very happy with my purchase.

Highly Recommended
I got this for a friend whose dream is to visit Japan and she thinks it's the best thing since sliced bread. If you are a Prime member you can borrow the digital version for free, if that helps you when deciding whether or not to purchase the physical copy.

Not a lot to learn ......
I bought this book because I thought it would less dense than a Frodder's or Lonely Planet Guide and only focus on the BEST things to do in Japan and have a more folksy tone - like a good tour guide (a tour guide wrote this book.) Problem is it's way too sparse. Sometimes there's only a sentence on a page with a black and white photo. I read the entire book in an hour. It's a very difficult book to navigate. There's few chapter headings and the layout is confusing. As a reader, I didn't know what part of Japan the cities he spoke about were - the book didn't contain a map of Japan. Truly, this book was a disappointment.
