Öncü Mild Red Pepper Paste - 700gr Jar - Turkish Sweet

I'd never even heard of this stuff until I read a Rick Stein cookbook, and wanted to make one of the recipes that required it. This is a good, big jar packed full of good quality pepper paste, and the price is pretty reasonable compared to other suppliers. The paste is tangy, slightly sweet, and mildly spicy. It worked perfectly in the cabbage and minced-lamb Kapuska I made, but since then I've used it in other recipes (bolognese, chilli con carne, lamb kleftiko, curries) in place of tomato paste, and it's just wonderful; it adds another level of subtle flavour and character that simple tomato paste won't. It's fast becoming an essential in my cooking, and I'll be buying more when I run out (which will be very soon!!). Highly recommended!

I am so happy to find this in the UK. It was very fresh and tasted amazing. I can now cook my favourite meals. Great value for money.

Absolutely delicious, high quality and at a very reasonable price.

Convenient product with no nasty additives, would be great for cooking in quantity. For a smaller dish I think next time I'd puree fresh peppers from scratch, bit more effort, probably worth it. Seems a tad expensive, but it is a very large jar.

Dieses Paprikamark ist ein echtes Highlight – fruchtig, aromatisch und mild genug, dass man es vielseitig einsetzen kann. Ob für Gulasch, Eintöpfe, Soßen oder einfach als Basis im täglichen Kochen: Es verleiht den Gerichten sofort Tiefe und eine feine Würze. Die Konsistenz ist cremig, die Farbe kräftig und der Geschmack ausgewogen – weder zu süß noch zu salzig. Die 700g-Packung hält lange und ist im Vergleich zu kleineren Gläsern super praktisch. Für mich ein Must-have im Vorratsschrank.

Aufgrund einer Histaminintoleranz musste ich leider für einige Zeit von Tomaten absehen. Dieses Paprikamark konnte mir dabei helfen, indem es eine sehr gute Alternative darstellt. Schmecken tut es gut, auch wenn ich Tomatenmark/-soße leckerer finde. Man muss sich evtl. dran gewöhnen. Zudem ist kein Schnick Schnack drin, nur Paprika und Salz! Verwendungen hat es viele. Insgesamt ein sehr gutes Produkt!
