ATMEGA328P-PU with Arduino Bootloader - Duemilanove

This was a great deal. I have been designing circuits that use the Arduino and I wanted to be able to create the projects without having the actual Arduino board hooked up. These are exactly what I needed for my projects. Now I can build my projects and incorporate the chip right into the circuit.Will buy more in the future.Great sale, Fast shipping. A++

This upgrade worked out of the box and increased available space for more complex sketches (I'm using Ethernet and X10). It does change the timer clock which impacts functions like millis() and delay(), as well as the Time library functions. This impact can be reversed in software. Virtualbotix was proactive in providing a software solution approach. Excellent technical support.

couldnt get it to work. i got this because i didnt want to buy a icsp just yet. i guess i will have to and see if thats the problem

The package came properly protected agains EMR, and works great. I used a ISP programmer based in usbtiny, and the result is really good, i recommend it

Buyer beware. This chip comes with the old "Duemilanove" (2009) boot loader flashed in. The current Arduino Uno (R3) uses a different programing interface which will NOT recognize this chip. You will need the 2009 board, or a clone of it, or you will need to use the ISP interface to replace the old bootloader with the new one. And if you have an ISP setup, you probably don't care about the bootloader anyway.That's probably why this chip is cheaper than the ones with the current bootloader installed.The device itself works fine. On power-up in the Uno R3, it blinks LED13.
