MediaDevil Ultra-Thin Keyboard Cover for MacBook Pro 13" & 15" (2016-2019, with Touch Bar) (UK/EU Key Layout) - Typeguard Anti-Bacterial Edition

Well, this is a first review for me, I don't usually tend to write them as I often have little time. However, I feel like I should share my experience with you readers and let you know what this product offers. Firstly, the customer service from this company is fantastic. I ordered my keyboard cover (anti-bacterial edition) directly through amazon and within a day, it was sat in my hands waiting to be opened, so as far as I am concerned the delivery was as speedy as possible. In addition, the product was well wrapped and packaged and to add a little touch the company threw in a couple of sweets which I thought was a brilliant idea; with the speedy service and the extra treats make this company stand out for me so far. So, the product, what are the pros and cons? Well, I was sick and tired of the 'greasy' keys that got left behind when using my laptop after dinner, or whilst I was having a quick snack at university, from the start, this keyboard cover really has prevented any problems with grease or any unwanted substances on my precious MacBook keyboard. This was a priority of mine as I am largely conscious that the keyboard can transfer grease onto the screen if you are not careful. However, this is not so much a worry now, I was still using my screen cover that I received when I first bought my MacBook. What does it feel like? Its great! I had hesitations in buying this cover as I read many reviews on the Moshi version and how it was said to be the thinnest version. Yet, I cannot see how anyone would be so picky as this cover is slim, let me tell you. It fits perfectly over the keys and stays well in place, there is little movement and to say that it has the Anti-Bacterial extra (which is said to reduce the overall clearness of the product) I can hardly tell it is there. There is however the logo of MediaDevil on the space bar, but it really doesn't bother me. Moreover, the typing ability when using this keyboard is better than I anticipated. I have read many reviews about the use of keyboard covers, and this has alway made me reluctant to actually buy one, but I am glad that I did because I am already used to it - for everyday use, it works a treat! I must point out that you can feel it when you press the keys, it feels softer and a tiny bit harder to press it but I would rather have the protection. Besides, when i want to do any long typing for my assignments I know I can just slip it off and place it back on when I have finished. All in all, I am very pleased with MediaDevil and their Typeguard (Anti-Bacterial edition). The product was delivered within a day of purchase and offers great protection from grease, liquid spills (if you are like myself who uses their MacBook whilst eating breakfast) whilst remaining low profile. The price is also very competitive for one of the thinnest available UK keyboard covers, as Moshi charge in excess of £25 for their version. I may repost a future review to show its ability to stand the test of time and how the clearness is affected (as I have read a number of reviews on the Moshi product saying how the cover gained stains from daily use). However, i feel safe in offering my recommendations to all you guys who are pondering whether or not to buy this product because I am very pleased so far and I know it will incase the life and possible resale of my MacBook when it is time to upgrade. 24.11.12: So its 11 months old, and as I sit here updating you, it is exactly the same as the first day I bought it! It has stood the test of time for me, the cover is still perfectly see through and never ever is taken off of the keyboard! Definitely would still recommend this, have already recommended it to three relatives who love this product too! I found that for cleaning, just use a cloth with a tad of hot water and it removes any dust that may have lodged in any grooves! As for typing, I can hardly tell it is there now! My MacBook wouldn't be the same without it! Buy it! :)

I've been using this product for around 2-3 weeks now on my Macbook Pro 13". At first it's a little weird due to the keys feels deeper when you type. So it will probably slow your typing a little down at first. However after a week or so you will get used to it, and when I actually removed the typeguard, it actually felt weird not having it on. Typeguard keeps the keyboard clean, protected and reducing some of the typing sounds. Fits perfectly and pretty thin so you barely notice it. I've the anti-bacterial version and I still see the keyboard pretty clear, but in the light you do see it's a little darker than rest of the unibody silver. I didn't like the MediaDevil logo on the spacebar, but it doesn't bother you too much. I was afraid that it would reduce my typing ability since I had read reviews about keyboard covers / protectors doing so. However I can tell Mediadevil Typeguard is one of the better ones and the change is barely noticeable after use.

Hey guys, relatively new mac owner, but had already tried two other keyboard protectors, both cheaper ones, and got fed up by the fit - neither were exactly fitting the keys, although only tiny amounts off, they didn't fit anywhere near as snug as this. It is a quality piece, and typing isn't inhibited, although it can take a little adjusting. Definite recommended purchase for any like me who want to protect their keys from becoming dirty/shiny. Also fits very well in to the bevel around the keyboard, making an almost seamless fit. Only just received (today) so can't comment yet on longevity, will return in a couple of months if I remember and update! Definitely worth the extra money over the tempting ones for < £5

Very good product, as I have come to expect from MediaDevil. I purchased it as I wanted to try and keep my laptop's keyboard in the best possible condition, and despite best intentions, I know that I'm not the only one who occasionally has to eat a sandwich or biscuit in front of the computer. It also does an excellent job in just keeping general dust and dirt off the keyboard (and therefore out from under the keys), and has the added bonus that it can be completely removed from the laptop for cleaning and even disinfecting. However, beware any suggestion that you 'won't feel a thing', or 'not notice any difference', as you fundamentally are placing a considerable layer of rubber/silicon between your fingers and the keys - this does impact the level of force needed to actuate the keys, and in the first few days I found numerous occasions when what might previously have worked as a glancing tap or double-tap of a key failed to register or only registered once. It's the price of getting such protection as the key protector affords, although after a week or so of use, you will become used to it and it doesn't offer me any regular bother.

Its okay. The fit isn't as snug as I would've hoped for - occasionally slips slightly but not really an issue - but does hinder a 5 star rating. It is really thin though and once you are typing you cant really tell its there - might take a day to get use to. A note to consider (on MBA anyway) is that it does make the sound from the speakers a bit muffled - not in a bad just a bit noticeably bassier. Again not the end of the world for the protection it (and any other keyboard protector) offers. A further issue to consider is that the MBA's lid does not close flush if you keep the protector on - it does close but doesn't 'click' as it would without - again, this will be for all protectors so its something to live with if you want your keys safe/or you could take it off for transport. In short its a good protector; if you need a keyboard protector buy this one, it's good. But the slight niggles you'll have to live with. I think they are pretty universal in all protectors - if they didn't exist it would get 5 stars but then again I want the moon on a stick.

I was worried that with such a minimal amount of keyboard depth that the cover would make it really difficult to type but I'm pleasantly surprised. - great fit (for the EU/UK keyboard I have) - can hardly tell its there at first glance - the stickers are perfect for keeping it in place (I'm really glad there are spared too! - An added benefit is that the cover is a lot better at keeping off fingerprint marks than the actual keyboard Not 5 stars because I find myself typing with slightly more difficulty/mistakes but I'm hoping I'll get used to it in time. These MacBook keyboards are notorious for sticking/jamming/breaking if even the smallest bit of dust/debris gets in and even though I was really careful with mine, I still had problems within a few months which led me to buy this and I'm really glad I did.

Having had two second-hand iMacs die on me, I decided to go for broke and get a beautiful brand-new MacBook Pro (best thing I ever did, by the way). I'd had a floppy sort of cover for the iMac keyboard, but it was somewhat opaque and didn't please my daughter and grand-daughter, who always removed it, thereby ruining the effect of the cover! So I was thrilled to bits to find this one. It fits beautifully and quite honestly, I don't know it's there. I'm a rapid touch typist and there's absolutely nothing to get in the way. It's not 100% clear, but it has so little effect on the clarity of the keys that it's of no consequence. At least it now stays ON the keyboard all the time. You certainly get what you pay for with this, so very highly recommended.

It is very essential to have a cover for the Mac, especially the 2018 version as the keyboard can malfunction if the dust get into the mechanical keyboard. But the biggest problem with this is that the colour changes over time. I think it is because of the natural human oil that causes the the discolouration and it does not look nice at all.

aderisce perfettamente alla tastiera senza bloccare nessun tasto. sembra quasi di non averla. e' perfettamente lavabile con acqua e sapone, la consiglio vivamente

Ein perfekter Schutz gegen Staub und alles andere was so über die Tastatur auch ins Gerät gelngen könnte. Tasten lasse sich weiterhin super benutzen ohne das das Druckgefühl genommen wird beim Anschlag der Tasten oder sogar schwerer wäre, perfekt! Passform auch perfekt! Kann ich nur Empfehlen!

Positiv: + die Passgenauigkeit des Schutzes ist perfekt, es steht nichts ab + sie ist sehr dünn + bei der Bestellung gab es sogar noch 2 Maoam Stripes zum Naschen dazu :D Neutral: * auf das Logo auf der Leertaste (links unten: ca. 0,5 x 2,5 cm, silber/grau) könnte ich verzichten, aber es beeinträchtigt ja nicht meinen Schutz und meinen Schreibkomfort, sondern eher den optischen Eindruck * das veränderte Schreibgefühl durch die Schutzauflage ist natürlich am Anfang etwas komisch, aber man gewöhnt sich schnell daran * der Preis ist so eine Sache, Qualität hat natürlich ihren Preis, nur könnte sie schon ein paar Euro billiger sein Negativ: - es macht leider abdrücke auf dem Bildschirm, welche man aber mit einem Microfastertuch wieder abwischen kann (hab allerdings bevor ich den Tastaturschutz bekommen habe, einen Bildschirmschutz aufgeklebt und bin auch wirklich froh darüber... sicher ist sicher ;) ) Fazit: würde ich mir sofort wieder kaufen, denke es ist ein super Schutz, um ein "Baby" länger im "wie-neu-Look" zu bewahren

presa la versione antibatterica per modelli non retina con tastiera europea (e quindi italiana nel mio caso) ed è perfetta per il mio macbook pro 2012 13" non retina, lascia passare senza problemi la luce della tastiera retroilluminata, non inficia la velocità di digitazione, è molto sottile e quindi il portatile si chiude perfettamente e non rimane attaccata allo schermo durante l'apertura, davvero un ottimo acquisto! soldi ben spesi per un prodotto di qualità!
