Better than a Dentist made guard!
I have suffered with teeth grinding as well as TMJ for years and had a proper mouth guard made (By my dentist) to wear at night... However, i never used it as it was unformortable and bulky. I found that it stopped me form being able to sleep as it was so uncomfortable. Many years ago I had purchased teeth whitening cream which i had upper and lower teeth trays made for. As i had not used the trays, i started to use these as a mouth guard instead as they were softer and not so bulky. As the trays have worn I realised i needed to get a new mouth guard made - but i didn't want a bulky one from the dentist so i had a look on here.I have found these guards really good - they are not as bulky as dentist made mouth guards, but they are not quite as slim as a (whitening) tray would be. They are very mouldable and i found it really easy to get the guard into a perfect mould of my teeth. I boiled the kettle and poured the water into a cup. I placed the mouth guard into the cup for about 30 seconds - 1 minute. I fished it out with a fork, tapped out the excess water and then placed into my mouth (i tested the temperature of it on the back of my hand first). I pressed the mould into my teeth and sucked out any access air. Once i was happy with the shape i ran the cold tap and held the mould under it. I did trim the edges down a little too - i used a pair of scissors to trim the height of the shield (around the top of the teeth/ gum line) as well as the section that covered the roof of the mouth ( I cut it so that it ended just at the back of my teeth/ gum). The pack comes with four moulds - 2 smaller and 2 larger ones. I have quite a small mouth so will have to see how i get on with the larger mould. when i placed it in my mouth un-moulded (cold - not heated up), it was too large. However I found that when the mould is hot (and not so ridigit) it seems to shrink / loosen up and make it easier to wrap around the teeth. Even if i can only use the small mould - it is MUCH cheaper than going to my dentist!!!!I have included some photos so that you can see what it comes with and how the moulded guard looks. The last photo is of the mouth guard trimmed down.

Updated! Can help with TMJ pain!
My daughter has bruxism i.e. teeth grinding and was waking up with tired, painful and clicking temperomandibular (jaw) joints. One morning she had difficulty opening her mouth for breakfast so I thought I'd better do something about it ( terrible parent, I know!) We taught her relaxation and jaw stretches for the daytime but she still needed something fo the night. We bought this to try out. I read in the q&a section that these are bpa free. It comes in a set of 4 which consists of 2 big and 2 small ones. My daughter is a tall adult height 14 year old and she used the large. Follow the instructions to mould it to the shape of your teeth. Surprisingly, she sleeps well with it and after 4 nights she says the jaw pain has resolved. Great result I reckon.Update #1. 2 weeks. First mouth guard continues to look like new. Retains shape. Most importantly no more jaw stiffness and pain.Update #2: 3 months. About a month ago, my daughter started to develop TMJ pain again and found it stiff to open her mouth. She had been using her mouth guards faithfully. Went to see her dentist who made her a custom mouth guard. It is harder in consistency and custom made to her teeth. They literally 'click' into place and are very secure. The dentist reckoned that the soft splints weren't providing the support she needed. Anyway, the new splints are less comfortable but she tolerates it well and sleeps soundly with them. They seem to help and the discomfort has improved but not gone away completely. So if the Time2Sleep splints help you great stuff, if not please see your dentist for further advice. I'll continue to update. Was 5* now 4* .

Works but Can Be Uncomfortable
The mouth guard does help reduce teeth grinding overnight, and it’s convenient that you get four guards in the pack. I like that it’s dentist-recommended and UK designed. The downside is that it can feel bulky and uncomfortable at first, and it takes a few nights to get used to wearing it. Effective, but not the most comfortable solution.

Had these specially made for years ... This is the best.
I've had these specially made for years to protect my teeth and the first thing to say is guards work. But with travelling frequently for work I left them places; one of our dogs chewed another one and the replacement costs were unbelievable. But now having to pay vast sums because I exploded one of my back teeth through clamping my jaws when asleep, I've had to come back to them and thought I'd try these. Absolutely brilliant ... just as comfortable if not more so than the professionally made ones. And so easy to do if you follow the instructions. There are a couple of hints/tips I'd mention:- I'd advise brushing your teeth before doing the moulding; it doesn't mention it but anything you may have stuck in your teeth is otherwise going to get stuck in it when the guard is soft.- after setting it against your teeth while warm as described in the booklet, I would also *gently* close your teeth together so that you also set the natural bite for your teeth to rest together - don't bite hard or you will bite through it, but gently resting your teeth together in their natural bite will make it more comfortable in your mouth when set.- a note on the two sizes given: I'd say - for ease - the two larger sizes are adult and the smaller ones child-size.All in all, it was very easy to do and comes out as good as - if not better - than those I've had professionally made. And I can afford to lose a lot of these compared to how much I was paying for one guard previously. Can't recommend hem enough.
