Challenging but fun
Challenging for newbies in some puzzles. Lots of math but not difficult problems. I enjoy it very much.

SPIRAL BOUND AND GREAT PUZZLES
Brain Games – Code Breaker. There is a great variety of puzzles for various interests. In the puzzles I enjoy, I found code errors in some of them. These errors, however, made it a bit more challenging for me. When I found the first error, from then on I was mentally prepared for errors. These are the errors on brain games puzzles I tackled: Page 28: FLOWERS Word Buttercup (2, 3, 11, 14, 15, 19, 21): The letter “E” is No. 13 on the puzzle; but No. 13 does not appear on the list of codes for the word “Buttercup.” No. 14 which is letter “A” on the puzzle appears on the list but is not part of the word. Page 53: QUEEN OF SONG Cryptogram Line 1 – “Grammy” – The code letter “V” is by itself between the words “thirteen” and “rammy,” thus giving the impression that “V” could be the letters “A” o “I” in the puzzle. However, it is the letter “G” as coded: “VJMEEL” for GRAMMY. Page 63: CODEWORD Given letter “M” under No. 8 should be letter “Y” since letter “M” is actually No. 9 as denoted in the words: Across: Female and Diadem; and Down: Volume and Amethyst. Page 64: LETTER LESSON Cryptogram Line 4 – In the word “REMARKABLY,” Coded: “DFYJGYZEQ” the first letter “R” is missing. Page 90: HEROES Cryptogram Lines 3 and 5. The letter “B” is not coded. It appears as itself in the coded words: “BD” for BE, “BE” for BY, and “BDIMAD” for BECOME. Page 127: QUOTABLE CRYPTOGRAMS The letter “F” is not coded. It appears as itself in the coded words: Third cryptogram: “GXVTYHFWM” for WONDERFUL, “FEOQ” for FACT, “HYFMYOQ” for REFLECT, “AHXFXWVT” for PROFOUND, Fifth cryptogram: “UF” for IF, “XF” for OF and “FHEVCMUV” for FRANKLIN. Page 133: CODEWORD Line 3, letter D in word (down): “PRODNEY” there is not letter 29th in the English alphabet. The No. 29 should be No. 24 Page 144: FOUR FUN FACTS Cryptograms The letter “N” is not coded. It appears as itself in the coded words: First Cryptogram: “ZN” for IN and “TN” for AN. Second Cryptogram: “TNRMWUG” for ANOTHER. Third Cryptogram: “EWUN” for WHEN, “TN” for AN, “PNVUGARSUG” for UNDERCOVER, “TQUNM” for AGENT, “ZVUNMZML” for IDENTITY, and “YIREN” for BLOWN. Fourth Cryptogram: ““EWUN” for WHEN, “TN” for AN, “PNVUGARSUG” for UNDERCOVER, “TQUNM” for AGENT, “ZNARNJUCPUNMZTI” for INCONSEQUENTIAL, “ZNDRGKTMZRN” for INFORMATION, “UNUKL” for ENEMY, “ZN” for IN. “ZNDRGKTMZRN” for INFORMATION, and “AWZAFUN” for CHICKEN.

I needed
Fun. I'm very new with decrypting ciphers so I didn't know what to expect. The puzzles start easy and advance throughout the book. Plus there are a variety of games. I wish the book had blank pages (for notes).

Poorly formatted
Some of the puzzles are fine, but others have annoying issues. I love cryptograms, but the ones in this book are much too tight to comfortably work on. Not only are the lines very close together, but the letter spacing is very tight. Other puzzles have some boxes shaded with directions to unscramble the letters that end up in them. The shading is so dark, it's hard to see what you wrote in them. In crosswords, they don't tell you if an answer is made up of more than one word. For instance, the clue was "_____ making this up!" I guessed "you're" when the answer was "I'm not". I find myself skipping puzzles frequently. There's a fantastic mixed puzzle book from this publisher - I forget the exact name, but there's a woman in a lounge chair on the cover - that blows this book away. I wish I could find another like it. This one is disappointing in both variety and quality.

Happy recipient
My dad had heart surgery and I got this as part of a care package for his recovery. He loved getting his Code Breaker book out and working on the puzzles a little at a time.

Quality book, and answers in back. Excellent number code puzzles, and logic alphabet and patterns puzzles.

Puzzles are a great size for reading. Not too hard but not too easy. I think there are puzzles to please all code breakers.

I'm like a squirrel when I have downtime - these books are great to occupy the mind when bored but also hold up structurally well because it is a wire/ring bound. Don't need a portable desk to write on.

Awesome code puzzles.

No room to work out most of the puzzles and there is a lack of space between words for the cryptograms.
