Enjoy Playing Guitar Tutor Book 1 + CD : First Steps in Playing Classical Guitar : Cracknell, Debbie: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: Professional with fun tunes, perfect for beginners - Perfect for beginner guitarists. A very professional, well designed and structured tutor book, teaches with clear instructions right from the beginning. Tunes are motivating, as the title promises, you will indeed enjoy playing the guitar with this book. I used it without a tutor and I'm very happy with my progress. I don't get bored playing the same tune over and over again until it sounds decent, teaches so many techniques and gives so many ideas on how you can play the tunes. Constantly reminds you on finger positions which is very useful if you're learning alone. The book also teaches the basic and very necessary music theory, just the right amount to be able to follow this book. The cd is a bonus, give you confidence on how to play the tunes, you can play along either the same tune or backing, it's really fun! Perfect five star, highly recommended. Can't wait to start the second book which has already arrived with the Going solo book :) Review: A Great Resource - I've played guitar for some decades and have developed some bad habits such as not learning to play from a music score and lazy left hand technique, so I thought "learn classical guitar and get back on track". I regarded myself as a beginner in this scenario and went for a tutor book that treated me as such. I am surprised at my progress, working through the examples at an encouraging rate. My confidence has grown as I've progressed and has spilled over into my regular play, I'm putting together solos and riffs to extend my playing. The book begins at the very beginning ( a very good place to start according to Julie Andrews), just what I needed. You will come across some clichéd beginners' pieces, but I'm quite happy playing 'Jingle Bells' and 'Good King Wenceleslas' (forgive spelling) as long as it helps me improve. The CD is very useful and, because of my problems with time signature, handy for getting the phrasing spot on. The clicks of a metronome introduce most of the tracks and I've bought a metronome to match up with the clicks and keepme in time when I play without the disc. This is a great book for true beginners, but has some real value for intermediates such as me who want to sort out their discipline.

A good book
A very good book for beginners of the classical guitar. It contains very clear instructions and appropriate exercises. Its accompanying CD will be of great help to the learner. It's worth its price.

Very music friendly and easy tuition for child or adult
There 70 tunes to work on here The CD contains the backing tracks and also the whole pieces to listen to before practice to give you an idea of how the tunes should sound. There is a section on Music theory too. Although you can use any guitar for these tunes its best to use a nylon string guitar to get that authentic sound for classical music. Simple musical arrangements to make it easier to learn for anyone from about 10 years upwards child or adult. If your already an accomplished player who just wants to learn a new style its an ideal book for starters.

Perfect for guitar lessons.
My classical guitar teacher uses this in my lessons. Easy to follow and the songs are short and fun to play so you really feel the progression early on.

As recommended by the teacher
My son's guitar teacher recommended this book. It has proved to be very useful in showing him all the basics of holding and playing the instrument correctly. The book progresses with instructions, explanations and descriptions of how to use a variety of methods. Musical notation is explained clearly where appropriate at each step. There are excellent diagrams and many tunes to get started on. The CD is very useful for all the demo tracks of what the tunes should sound like, also play-along accompaniment. The first track contains open string notes for tuning. A very professional, well designed and structured tutor book. I am sure that before long he will be moving on to Book Two in the same series.

Very confused by this book. I've just started playing and had 3 lessons with a teacher. This book doesn't show any of the chords, nor numbering for finger picking alongside the music. Complete mystery!! No good for beginners.
