No nano for this old beast
I have a vintage 2008, Dell Latitude E6400 laptop. It's a manly beast. This thing was made back when laptops were built like brick shi ....well, you get the idea. What's so cool about "This Old Dell" is you can get under the hood and "hot rod" it a bit ...fer cheap. Max out the RAM, stick in a new CPU ...lotsa stuff. One of the obvious things I needed to improve on was the WiFi card; the original card offered up transfer rates at the heady speed of 54Mbs. I think I could improve on that. Enter the AC600 Mini Wireless Network WiFi Dongle. This dongle is not like the tiny little dongles you find that just about disappear in their USB ports. No sir. This is a big dongle. Standing out and proud from the side of my beastly laptop. So why did I choose this impressive dongle? I noticed there were a lot of comments from owners of lesser dongles complaining that, when push got to shove, their teensy dongles, with their "nano technology" ...fried themselves and failed to satisfy. Size matters; I was not about to put anything on my manly Dell that had "nano" in any part of its description. No sir. I wanted effective and big. This dongle is made for the long haul, for the heavy load and to stand strong. Unlike the wimpy "nanos" this dongle is equipped with "cooling ports". Yes, it can go the extra mile, take a lickin' and keep on tickin' and not go limp when it counts because ...it is air cooled. Through the magic of convection, cool air is drawn in through the ten, ample-sized, cooling ports on the bottom of the dongle and hot air escapes through slots integral to the oversize USB male plug. A small LED on top lets you know this dongle is workin' hard. And performance? Night and day different. Don't be caught with "nano technology" on your laptop. Go big, go strong, or go home. Okay, sorry, I couldn't help myself. This is a great device, highly recommend. It comes with a mini CD with the drivers and software ...that's how I installed mine as the Dell has a CD drive. Follow the instructions. My install went without a hitch. Oddly, the software and drivers are Realtek. And while I may have engaged in a little tongue in cheek, the overheating issue seemed to plague a lot of the smaller nano tech dongles reading reviews. This one does have air flow through it to some degree. Not the smallest but it works.; big improvement over the old WiFi card. At 15 bucks a no brainer.

Connects to 5ghz WiFi and is easier than replacing your WiFi chip
Cannot stress how great this product is. I recently bought a new lower end laptop with the single purpose of remotely connecting to my work computer. What I didnโt realize was that the laptopโs WiFi chip (802.11b/g/n) did not enable it to connect to a 5ghz WiFi connection, which is the only connection in my house that works consistently. I thought I might have to replace the laptop or open up the computer and install a new WiFi chip, which I didnโt want to do. I found this after searching on amazon and decided to give it a try, thinking it was cheap enough to be worth the risk. Luckily, this adapter works great. It was easy to install and I was able to connect to my 5g WiFi immediately. I would highly recommend this if you want to connect to 5ghz internet but lack the necessary WiFi chip.

It really works!
My wife's HP laptop had already had the wireless card replaced under warranty and was, once again, dropping the home network constantly. I was glad to hear from a local tech that a USB wireless adapter might do the trick. I researched the dozens available. I was willing to pay a little more than the cheaper models to get: dual band capability, decent throughput numbers, a device that didn't stick out too far and be a risk for being broken off, and a 100% stable network connection to our Netgear Nighthawk X6 wireless router on a different level in our home. It achieved all goals. The photo shows how far it sticks out next to the USB wireless mouse adapter. The installation directions were a little vague, suggesting it would be automatically recognized by Windows 10. It wasn't. The HP has an optical drive so I used the install disc, which was reasonably straight-forward. Therefore, I can't vouch for how the installation would go downloading the driver online, if you don't have a CD/DVD drive. I gave 4 stars for ease of installation because it took a little longer than I expected. 4 stars for durability because it's been in service for such a short period and is too soon to tell. 5 stars for value because it does what it says it will do! Inamax Direct shipped it immediately and it arrived in perfect condition. I wouldn't hesitate to do business with them again. 100% satisfied with seller and adapter.

Good Value for Compact Hardware
The antenna works well, is nice and small, seems to be solidly built, included easy to install driver software, and is much more reliable than the last one I got from another company (the internet used to go out for 5-10 seconds every few minutes). However, even on the 5ghz connection, the internet is a tiny bit slow; Facebook and HD videos load noticeably slower than they do on my laptop (but not frustratingly so). This product is perfect for typical office-type computer applications and internet browsing. If you want to game online or stream a lot of HD video quickly, come to terms with the fact that you will have to shell out a lot more than $17.00 on equipment.

Reliable, easy upgrade
Iโve bought two of these, both have been great. Much better than the built-in Wi-Fi on my laptop. Built-in Wi-Fi was unreliable, and would frequently become unresponsive, needing manual disabling and re-enabling of the network adapter to remedy. The AC600 has been an awesome upgrade! No Wi-Fi drops, no hassle, just plugged it into a USB port on Windows 10 and now Wi-Fi is stable and much faster than the built-in laptop Wi-Fi adapter. UPDATE Oct 2018 ------------------- Physically broke one, and replaced it. Now have it running on all family laptops, and constant wifi drops have stopped now that I have disabled the built-in wifi card(Network and Sharing Center\Change Adapter Settings\right click on built-in Wifi card and select "Disable"), and am using the Inamax for wifi.

Awesome product!!!
I recently changed my internet provider from AT&T to Xfinity. The installer told me that I had 2 wireless signals, a 2.4Hz and 5G signal. He checked my devices and found that my laptop and cell phone were not compatible with the 5G signal, but that my tablet was. He showed me how to check my speed of internet connection on each device. I did some research and found this adapter on Amazon. It was inexpensive, and claimed to be able to allow my older laptop to connect to the 5G wireless signal. I bought the adapter and plugged it in to my USB port. Once it loaded the driver I was able to connect to the 5G signal. I checked the download speed. Without the adapter I was getting about 20 Mbps speed. With the adapter I am getting 56-60Mbps speed!! This thing really works as advertised! Get one, you will be happy you did!

Small but powerful WiFi adapter, both for a laptop or desktop
This thing was struggling with my old router and 4 other WiFi devices connected. 2 rooms away the reception was weak, lots of buffering and some lost connections. In the same room as the router it was better but still slow. Even so it outperformed some of the other devices. After I upgraded the router to an AC1900 Asus these issues are now gone. It sits in a USB port in a laptop and it works well even 2 rooms away on the same floor. I haven't really put it to a strenuous test but it has handled steaming and browsing without slowing down. It's small and so I can put the laptop down on the bed without worrying about it bending or even breaking and damaging the USB port due to bulk. If you experience WiFi problems at your home, especially in a heavily congested area like mine, then look at upgrading the router first before putting the blame on a WiFi adapter (I would suggest at least an AC1200 in this day and age).

Good buy for a cheap temporary fix, but initially quite frustrating.
I recently built a desktop PC and the motherboard didn't have wifi capability, so I thought I'd try this out. I had a lot of issues off and on, particularly with the driver from the link in the product description, but after uninstalling the driver and moving my PC closer to my wifi router, the issues have pretty much went away. I was getting terrible speeds (like bytes to kilobytes per second) in my office, but near the router, the speed is very good (close to the megabytes per second of my wifi). The laptop I used to use in my office had no issues being that far from the router, so perhaps the range is limited. I don't have a CD drive, so maybe the CD included would have provided a better driver, but I found the program it installed to be pretty useless; the adapter works the same if not better without it. Overall, the adapter could be better, and I am disappointed to not be able to set up farther from my router, but it will do until I get ethernet in the fall. Good buy for a cheap temporary fix, but initially quite frustrating.
