The Complete Photo Guide to Perfect Fitting

I always have problems finding ready-made pansts/trousers to fit me, usually being too baggy at the back. Determined to make some for myself, and realising that shop bought patterns are generally aimed at 'ideal' figures and that my shape is far from ideal, I came across this book almost by accident. Browsing through it when it arrived, I discovered within minutes the cause of my problems. How to put them right takes a little longer. But now I know how to go about altering a shop bought pattern so that I can set about making trousers, casual pants or jeans that really do fit properly. This book is well written and illustrated and is aimed at people with some experience of making clothes for themselves, family or friends and have been rather disappointed when, after very carefully following a shop bought pattern, they find the results less than satisfactory. A brilliant book, worth every penny!

I chose this book after reviewing the kindle sample downloads of about 8 different pattern fitting books and carefully reading the amazon reviews by other dressmakers. I think this offers the closest match to what I need, which is to understand the different pattern adjustments I need to make according to body variations. It is focused on fitting muslins on someone else, which is a limitation as I want to use it for my own fitting, but I feel it has given me a good understanding of where to make adjustments to commercial patterns before I even make my first muslin, as well as how to spot the cause of any fitting issues.As such, I’m sure it will save me lots of money on potential mistakes in buying the wrong style of pattern or cutting expensive fabric incorrectly...I have the kindle edition and that makes it a really great buy!

The media could not be loaded. Text descriptions with step by step pictures. Glossy pages and sturdy paperback cover. The content is clear and appears like solid information although I haven’t had a proper read yet.

A very useful and concise book very helpful for fitting

On opening this book you are immediately taken with the clarity of the photography, explanations and instructions on how to proceed by the right means and methods of adjusting any pattern to suit the individual. Wish I'd had the luxury of obtaining this book years ago, It would have saved me from abandoning projects along with buckets of tears and mountains of frustration. I think every novice or beginner who is interested in making well fitted clothes for oneself or friends should purchase this book. I only wish it were in CD format, now that would be the bees knees.

An excellent book. I am fairly new to dressmaking and deducted to purchase this book to really help me in getting a good fit for my homemade dresses. When it arrived I thought maybe it was for the professional sewer. However on closer inspection I realised that it was ideal for me, as well as the professional sewer. The instructions are clear and the many photographs make it very user friendly. I would thoroughly recommend it and am looking forward to making well fitting clothes!!

Excellent book, will be buying the "proper book" as I found looking at the pictures in black and white on my Kindle a little difficult to follow. Whilst I can sew up garments for myself without any problems I find that getting the fit just right is far more difficult. Since buying this book I have made a fitted dress that does actually fit. If you are like me and want to learn more about basic pattern cutting and fitting, then I would thoroughly recommend this book. As I mentioned before, buying the actual book may be more useful than the Kindle Download
