will this work in a small shallow pond? its only 25cm deep. I want something to clean the sand & dirt from the bottom ???

Hi Susan. Absolutely not. If you look at the picture of the VAC, the bulbous black bit at the bottom has to be completely submerged in water or the motor will burn out. I suppose to get round that it might be possible to fix something like a flexible vacuum cleaner hose to the base with a jubilee clip and use the VAC with the bulbous head submerged in a large container filled with water but I suspect it might be simpler to look for an alternative. How short will the handle go? I've an above ground pond just under a metre high. I'm 5'2" and will need to lift this over into the pond, is it heavy?

Hello You can use just the handle with the Vaccum head on the end if you wish making the unit approx 1.3m long. It is about 2kg when full of water. What diameter is the waste pipe ?

I think it's the same as standard pond pump plastic piping. Probably around 25 - 30 mm. Adequate to take small loose waste, that's if it doesn't first block the impeller which does sometimes happen, especially with small stones.
