The painful joint disorder known as TMJ manifests in the jaw, neck, back, and head, making it a debilitating condition that can adversely affect daily life. The many sufferers of TMJ - the disorder is shockingly common, affecting 1 in 25 people - often must pay exorbitant fees for dental splints ($450) or surgery (upwards of $100,000), and they are forced to invest time and energy to manage their pain. Cynthia Peterson wants to help TMJ sufferers to find a new way to alleviate their discomfort, offering tips of on posture, tongue placement, and simple physical therapy exercises that can reduce, relieve, and even eliminate TMJ-associated pain. Each section is illustrated with photos and drawings, making this invaluable guide an easy-to-use resource for those who need it most. Review: The best resource on TMJ that I have found - Excellent and very thorough resource. The best and most comprehensive information that I have found on TMJ/TMD. The ten steps are extremely useful, practical and can be immediately applied by anyone suffering the debilitating effects of this often misunderstood disorder. Review: Buy this book - My TMJ/Botox doctor (who is a facial reconstructive surgeon) confirmed for me that physical therapy is effective at treating TMJ. After hearing her professional opinion, I immediately ordered this book and haven’t looked back. The exercises in this book help substantially. Life changing in all honesty. I bought this book out of desperation due to a painful TMJ flare up looking for relief. This book is packed full of information I never knew and provides many excellent neck, back and jaw exercises that TRULY help relieve and (fingers crossed) prevent future or furthering TMJ issues and pain. I have practiced the authors “POTSB TLC” and have done her stretches for about a month now, and it just dawned on me that I’ve been COMPLETELY pain free for a while now! This is coming from someone who was getting jaw Botox therapy for TMJ only to have the pain relief benefits wear off after a short 2-3 months. I’m now 5 months post jaw Botox injections and would/should have been back in pain at this point due for more. But I’m not, thanks to the invaluable knowledge I’m now practicing in this book. This book has theoretically saved me thousands in treatment and many miserable days in pain. I wholeheartedly recommend. For $10, it’s definitely worth a shot.

Best Book on This Topic
I have had major TMJ symptoms for many many years and have been labeled as a very bad case by many practitioners. This book helped my more than any practitioner to date because it helped me help myself and understand why symptoms build to an acute state. Am so thankful to have found it!

brilliant advice
This book helped me very much as it gives the TMJ sufferer a very deep, almost scientific understanding of how the symptoms came about and how they can also be made better. The book is great in teaching you how to chew, breathe, swallow, sit at a desk, stand, sleep and all the other activities we spend most of our day doing and therefore adapting these habits is essential for improvement of TMJ. If you are experiencing quite strong pain, however, I would definitely recommend pairing this with seeing a medical professional regularly as well as deep tissue massage of neck and upper back. Also try some self-massage tools every evening for a few minutes followed by applying heat to relax the muscle afterwards.
