When you press down, it goes to a specific depth regardless of which spring is loaded? I don't get it

The springs are there so that you have consistency of your press, so you change the spring size based on how compacted you want your coffee. If you stick to a minimum grind of 18g you should get a good pour.

Where are the other two springs located?

One is installed in the tamper and the other two come in a sealed little plastic bag inside the box. Once you unscrew the tamper you can change the required spring. Hope this helps.

Are you meant to push down all the way? Or when it stops around 1-2cm? When it’s not in the portaflter it goes all the way down
