Emergency! (Awesome Engines)

Bought this after my 2 year old loved "dig,dig,diggers" for months and we fancied a bit of variety to read to him so bought a selection of books by the same author/illustrator. "Emergency" is now a firm favourite with my son, we read it repeatedly and both my husband and I enjoy doing so. The illustrations are colourful and engaging and have lots of detail so you can "look for the dog" or "count the cars" or "find the red one" etc, adding to the enjoyment and educational experience. The pages with all the vehicles on at the beginning and end are a great opportunity to discuss which one is your child's favourite and what they have learned about them. Overall I am delighted I bought it. It isn't quite as brilliant as "dig, dig, diggers" but comes pretty close.

A super book, colourful and well thought out.

Nice book for toddlers and young children. This book covers the main emergency vehicles in there relevant situations rescuing people. My daughter is nearly two and has had this book a while but understands the concepts of the vehicles and will get more and more from this as she gets older I imagine. We had a giggle that she remembered us pointing out the burglars on the police page and when we read it would point her finger at them saying " no burglar". She has not been so interested in other vehicle books so this book as clearly got her interest. This is 4 star as I wish in some senses it had been hard back book and that there had been a little more to see on each page but it will grow with her when she understands even more.

I work in a preschool and have read this book to many children age 2-4 over the years and now I can buy it for my grandson. Each double page covers an Emergencey vehicle. The pictures are great for showing visually what’s going on, As well as the rhyme. I find it’s a great book for sparking conversations with children.

This book is about far more than the words. There is so much going on in the background giving lots of opportunity for discussion. A real favourite in my house.

Fire / Police obsessed can’t get enough of this book. Form favourite we read on repeat. Love the illustrations as does my son.

Arrived in good time. Great book, used in a SEN early years class and the children loved it, really focused on the lovely bright colours and busy pictures... loads to focus their attention and to build discussions on, and just enough text to keep interest. Pupils really enjoyed joining in with the repeated phrase..... and used it in their own play later too. Loved using this book. Thank you

My daughter checked this book out of her local library and renewed it 4 times! That was the limit, my grandson was heatbroken about giving the book back. I was delighted to find it on Amazon while they were visiting me. I ordered and had it shipped to my daughter's home. I explained to my grandson that it would be waiting when they returned home to New York. The first thing he asked his daddy when they got home was had his book arrived and it had. He dreams of being a firefighter and just turned 4, this book has everthing a child interested in firefighters and emergency personal could want. A great book for a young child. What better recommendation than He couldn't put it down and it goes everywhere with him.

Smelly and moldy and old looking

Although the US version is pictured on Amazon's listing, I actually received the UK version of this book. Hence the police car responds to 999, not 911, and we read about a snowplough (not plow). This doesn't impact my 2 year old son's enjoyment of the book, which has vibrant illustrations and rhythmic text, but may be irritating to parents who bought the book for early readers.

This is my second copy of this book, we wore the first one out! I am a Montessori teacher, and this has everything for ages 3-6: reality, important work. This is a universally loved book at my school.
