FERRODAY 5/16 Barbed Air Line Filter, 4 PCS Sanitary Air Inline Filter

No telling how well it filters, but it easily passed air pumped by my big hydroponics pump to oxygenate my beer before fermenting. Four will last me a lifetime, but FWIW I would buy them again if needed. I wish I could have bought just 1 or 2.

Connected to an aquarium air pump, it filters bacteria and dust, for aerating cooled wort. Not as efficient as pure O2, but simple and effective. Use with or without a stone. I only use them once, because there is no backflow valve.

Although the description is accurate, I was not expecting a filter with such a large barb. With a cup of hot water and a little work, I was able to connect one side of the filter to 1/4" OD - 0.17 ID hose from my Tetra air pump. The other side of the filter easily connected to 3/4" OD - 1/4" ID hose to my diffusion stone. The lower price compared to the 3/16" barbed filters makes this filter worth the extra effort to attach it to a 0.17" ID hose. It shipped the same day and received within a few days from Hobby Homebrew.

I use these in-line filters when I oxygenate my beer before pitching the yeast. Since I also oxygenate using small cannisters of oxygen from Lowe's I simply safeguard by sending the gas through one of these filters. These filters fit my tubing perfectly.

So many uses for these. I use for a vacuums pump inline filter.

They are sanitarily packed, appear to be well made, and larger than they look in the picture. I have not used them yet but will on my next brew.

The plastic package has vent holes and a staple through it. So for any kinda of filtering it’s a bit a roll of the dice… but that’s kinda the Amazon price vs buying a sterile medical version…
