Pretty nifty.
The massager arrived very quickly, so firstly, let me congratulate Amazon for a 'next day' delivery. I took some time before finally choosing this massager, principally to work on my shoulder and neck. Now it is here I'm sure it will be fine. It looks good, feels solid and comfortable and is easy to both use and guide on the body (assuming you have full functionality yourself). What I did like is that whilst the cable is fitted with a European 2-pin plug, it comes sleeved in a UK plug, so very versatile if travelling. The controls are simple and easy to use. One switch on the side allows the machine to be used with massage and heat, or simply as a massager, plus allows the machine can be switched off, a good safety precaution. A top-mounted rotating slider allows the intensity of the massage to be adjusted. To release the handle from the main body there are two push-buttons to release the handle. What I also like is that the manufacturer encloses a plastic trim piece to 'fill the hole', so the speak once the handle is detached. Over the main body of the machine is an adjustable velcro hand-strap. But - there's always a but! In photos I thought the product's body was made of aluminium and I could see that the handle detached enabling the machine to be used with or without (a bonus in itself). However, taking off the handle I find it is plastic. Also, in the absence of any labelling advising the country of origin/manufacture, I have to assume it is Germany. The heat is gentle but noticable (maybe a disappointment to someone expecting some searing rays) and works well with the massage. The machine comes with two rubberised nodules - one with a set of finger-like pimples and the other with a plain surface - for varying the massage and they simply slide over the head, which contains the infrared heat source. Rather obviously, the heat is not likely to prove much if either of the nodules is in place. I had already been in touch with the manufacturer and they can supply spares (for a charge) of the massage nodules, if required. Having used the machine several days, I can confirm, even on the lowest setting it packs a bunch with the massage (the main thing I wanted)and by varying the settings, and/or by simply increasing the handle/hand pressure to increase the intensity you can achieve whatever massage you can bear! My particular need is on my shoulder and neck and it seems effective. No great 'instant' miracle cure for my neck/shoulder (yet!). My wife loves the massager on her back too. I would suggest - and this is a personal preference - wearing a thin t-shirt if massaging, just to prevent some skin ruffling. Also, be careful massaging over the more prominent boned areas. It's very easy to cause some discomfort on boned areas and you may cause some bruising, or pain!

A quick and honest review
Literally just received this and have used it briefly. The infrared is the heat source so no it isn’t hot enough for those with severe pain looking for something really hot but infrared is very good for cellulite and fluid retention. The massage is more of a vibration but in the correct place it would help relieve aches and pains. I’ve just tried it on my swollen legs and it felt great! The long handle made it easy to reach the back of my legs and I suffer with weak, sometimes numb, hands and fingers so if I can do it then pretty much anyone can. I love that it can also be handheld by removing the handle. Downside, yes the plug isn’t the longest, it’s the same as your average hairdryer, nothing an extension cable can’t help with!

THIS IS NO GIMMICKY, INEFFECTUAL, TOY
I'm presently in the throes of suffering from a frozen left shoulder ( adhesive capsulitis ) where the tissue of the 'capsule', which surrounds and helps suspend the ball joint in place, gets inflamed ( usually from some sort of impact shock ). It then shrivels to tighten around the joint and tendons restricting some of the radial angle of vertical reach from the ball joint and movement of the arm behind the back too. Nothing can be done to induce a quick fix, so you have to ride it out, with or without painkillers, whilst trying to exercise the joint back to it's former abilities, which could take months (and even years if you do no exercise). This is where the Beurer Massager comes into it for me. I bought it to assist me in getting over my condition and it definitely helps. It gets in there to massage the tissues and definitely helps alleviate a good deal of the pain if used regularly. It hasn't miraculously cured my condition, nor did I expect it to, but it is helping out by oscillating and exercising otherwise unused muscles due to the pain and wacks up a bit more blood flow into the capillaries of the affected area also. I do feel a benefit from the infrared penetration into the sinews and muscles and the best thing of all is that the device has a handle attachment which is designed for self administration without the need of the attentions of a physiotherapist being on-hand. For the benefits I have received this device is well worth the money I paid. It's no silly toy, it works. Eamonn

Hideous but beautiful
With design cues from a distant galaxy this device is never going to impress anyone with its looks, but then I'm no watercolour myself and I work. Massage, for me, is not a lifestyle thing; it's a serious business, because I have an irreversible condition that causes my muscles, leg in particular, to bunch and spasm very painfully. I take heavy duty painkillers on a permanent basis, just to stagger through the day. My wife is a genius at helpful massage and yoga but each day, at least once, I have to spend some time working away at the affected areas. It takes me a couple of years (or less) to completely wreck an electric massager and I tried this one for several reasons: 1) it is German and therefore well-made, despite the naff appearance; it feels good in the hand and compared with other powerful machines it isn't very heavy; it is versatile enough for both close-up and distance work, meaning you can reach more or less any part of your body 2) it has a strong 22 watt motor that packs the kind of punch you need to actually achieve something; the 10 and 12 watt motors on most massagers are useless on heavy thigh muscles, for example 3) the infra red is a bonus for me in terms of soften muscle mass; to use it you discard both of the rather silly "massage head"; I think a massager without heat is rather inadequate but some don't have it 4)the shape of the massage head and both stupid clip ons is superb for attacking muscle mass in two places or even on either side; this radically speeds up the effectiveness of the massage 5) an infinitely adjustable speed/power dial is a must for any serious device; don't buy a two-speed or even ten speed; the touch you need for neck and jaw muscles is very delicate compared with the oomph you need for tight shoulders; this machine is nicely adjustable over a usefully wide range of settings Ask yourself, what do you want from a massager? Is it a toy as part of your craze for holistic fitness baloney? Or do you actually want to emerge from fifteen minutes of almost effortless assistance with softer, more subtle muscles that tingle beautifully. If so, this machine does the job without the thunderously heavy touch of the so-called "professional" devices that you really don't need unless you are a sports physio. This does the job nicely and it's good value for money, in my view.

Relief at last!
Some years back I had major heart surgery which involved having an artery removed from my left leg. Since then I have had trouble with circulation resulting in aching legs and cold feet plus loss of feeling in my feet. I have bought various massage machines but until now, without success. I bought this machine yesterday. It is very good indeed. Powerful even on low setting, easy to use and has a detachable handle plus the advantage of heating. After only five minuets use my legs were feeling great. I would certainly recommend this item

Great Little Gadget for self use.
So glad I took the plunge and bought this. Wasn't too sure what to expect after reading the reviews but I have found this works well for my niggling aches and pains. It is a bit heavy but then these things are but despite not being very strong find it easy enough to manage with the long handle and resting it on your body. This also means that you don't have to push on to get the full effect. It is quite strong - so you wouldn't want to be doing your face or neck, unless you like the sensation of your teeth chattering. I don't seem to have as much issue with stiff shoulders and achey back since getting this.

Black & Decker sander?
I really wanted this item to be fantastic and fix my sciatica overnight like some magical cure however i can't. I'm sure the product is fantastic for a multitude of aches and pains but here are my findings. I thought the massager was too powerful for what i needed. I felt like i was being pummelled by a Black & Decker sander. When i used the massager without the handle i found that the vibrations numbed my hand within 2 minutes & i was unable to continue. But the 2 biggest drawbacks were 1) I found it very heavy and cumbersome- like using a heavy louffer and could not angle the massager to use on my back & parts of my leg. 2) You have to be within a few feet of a power socket as it's plug in. I know it may seem obvious but it does restrict where you can use it unless you have a handy extension lead. I found the Beurer MG16 MINI much more portable and easy to use for an "amateur".

Doesn’t work- faulty product
I think I’ve gotten a faulty product. It’s not vibrating like a massager should. Can I get a replacement product or a refund please? Thank you!

Meine Kaufempfehlung.
