Exceptionally good game of strategy and bluff
Very enjoyable indeed. Rules straightforward and easy to pick up. Suitable for children from about 11/12 - no prior experience of gaming required.

Coup- fun fast paced and full of bluffing !
Coup is such a fun and clever card game! It’s quick to learn, doesn’t take long to play, and always gets everyone laughing and plotting. Perfect for small groups, it’s all about bluffing, strategy, and outsmarting your opponents. Each round is different, and it’s great for bringing out a bit of friendly competition. Definitely a great game to have in your collection!

Great game and great product
I bought this to play with friends! Have loved this game and had to get it for myself! It was really fun and easy to use. We usually run a practise game to ensure each player especially new players are happy with the rules! The cards are really good quality and can he used by all the family!

Very good and fun game! Easy to learn and new people to it will remember it!
This game is extremely good fun and is very easy to learn/pick up. I've now played with 2 groups of about 4 and both times the group have agreed that they thought the game was fun.A typical game normally lasted about 5-7 minutes but we tend to play first to 3 or 4 wins to make it more like a mini competition The game is a little smaller then you may expect the box is smaller then I thought it was going to be however doesn't take away from what a great game it is. The only thing that lets this game down is the price. The game itself is only 15 cards and about 50 little coin things made from cardboard a game like Uno only costs around 6 pound and has a lot more cards so probably doesn't cost that much different to make.

Good fun filler game
Great fun little game. I was amazed at how quick it was - a 3/4 player game lasts just under 10 minutes. It's a game where you need to bluff your way through and there is a nice mixture of skill and luck. You start off with two cards which for some reason they describe as influence - I would have labelled them as lives. You take actions depending on what cards you have and what you actually want to do. If you want to pretend to be a different character and use their action you can. Any player around the table can challenge what you've done after you've attempted to take your action. If they catch you out you lose a card and a life, if you were telling the truth you reveal the truthful card and they lose one of their cards and a life. You also get to swap a card you've revealed which is a nice touch to enable the bluffing to continue. When you run out of cards you are out. The last one standing wins. I thought to begin with that it would always be best to tell the truth but there is a definite need to bluff and to stop others knowing what you really have. The bluffing gives you real advantage in the later stages of the game. You also need to race others to the 7 coins for a coup as there is no way to block it - this is then the reason for the bluffing to enable you to get there first, or when you're one on one to beat someone else to the win.

Quick, easy and fun!
I bought this along with a few other board games to play at my cousin's over Christmas. This one was the quickest to set up and easiest to learn. There are very few pieces (deck of cards + coins) and within 5-10 minutes of opening the pack everyone is able to understand how to play it. The quality of the product is amazing. I really liked the art style of the cards themselves as well as the coins. Although my fibbing skills weren't the best, I still had a great time playing this. Definitely pick this game up if you're in the market for a new card game to play with your family and friends.

I am the Duke! (You will get this once you play it...which you should!)
I played Coup after having played The Resistance, a game set and the same universe (and made by the same people). That game is very much about cooperation, Coup dispenses with any such notion, you have no friends here! The game is simple, there are 15 cards, 3 of each of the 5 characters. Each character has an ability and some also have a counter-ability. The game starts with each player having 2 cards face down in front of them, these represent the amount of influence (think lives) they have in court. When you lose all your influence you are out. Each turn the player will announce the character that they have "I am the ..." and then use this character's ability. The crux of the game hinges on the fact that they do not have to have this character in front of them to make this claim. The way in which is influence is (mostly) lost is through people challenging others on the character they claim to be holding. If the player was lying, then they lose influence (flip up a card of there choice, or the remaining one if already down to one), however, if the player is able to prove that they did in fact have the character that they claimed then the challenger is the one that loses influence. There are two other mechanisms via which influence can be lost; an assassination, the ability of the assassin and a coup, an action any character can but costs a lot of money. The only factor of this game that breaks one of the golden rules of game design is that of player elimination and for this I was tempted to dock a star. The saving grace of Coup is the speed at which a game is played, even if knocked out first you are unlikely to spend more than 5 minutes waiting even in a game with the full 5 players. We have also found this game as a great way to decided player order for the next more in depth game (think Game of Thrones) due to its clear winning/losing order and the fact it can be wrapped up in 15-20 mins.

Excellent game!
Coup (pronounced “Coo”) is the ultimate game of bluffing and you’ll need to practice your poker face! This is a fantastic (really quick) game for the family or with friends. We play this game with friends (usually 4-6 people), but I imagine teens and younger could pick it up. It’s really easy to get the hang of and I’d thoroughly recommend adding it to your game collection. It’s actually a small packet too so could be put in your suitcase if you’re going away on holiday.

It arrived promptly and is great quality. The games great, i love it more than I expected. It requires less setup than even games like chess. In fact it's similar to chess, although the bluffing part makes it a lot more fun, especially when a bad lie makes everyone piss themselves laughing. It's designed for more than two people and works best with 3+. Though I have had some 1v1 games and they are just as fun. The best thing though is games usually take only around 5-10 mins so if you're short on time or if someone can't stay for the whole game night you can obviously adjust to suit that. I usually have a few games of this before and after longer table top games. Honestly if you're looking for a good tabletop game Coup is vital to any collection.

I dont know how many times I read the description and the title to find out only when it arrived that it is the expansion game, not the original game

Recommendation: 5 stars Ease to Learn: 4 stars Good for Family: 5 stars Good for Adults: 5 stars Short time to play: 5 stars Value for money: 4.5 stars This game is best learned by someone who has played it. It takes about 3 rounds to understand it sufficiently with someone who has played it. The game is then easy to learn and interesting. We played about 3 rounds in 40 minutes, so each game doesn't take long--about 12-14 minutes. The idea is that each player gets 2 player cards. Each player card has a different character and there are are 3 of each character that does a specific function. You play your role as one of your characters or fib about having a character you don't have. For instance, you say, I am a Duke and will collect 3 money tokens (each turn you get tokens, the number you get is determined by your character cards or your ability to convince everyone else you have a specific card). If someone says they don't think you are a Duke and call you out, you lose a character card if you were lying. If you weren't, they lose a card. When you have 7 money tokens, you can assassinate another player to eliminate one of their character cards. Therefore, collecting money quickly and calling people out who you think are fibbing, is the game. The last person standing wins. There are elements of fibbing, selling, convincing, strategy, and elimination that are all part of the game. My family loves this. The game says 14+ but my 10 year old loves this game and tends to win a lot. If this sounds like fun, consider the Night of the Werewolf game as well--similar time to play, easy to do with the app on your phone and almost zero learning curve. The price is good. I would recommend.

This game is full of bluffing and deception, and is very interactive. I love it when i play it with a large group of friends. Must buy, but a bit costly.
