I bought cube boxes that measured 33x38x33 from Amazon and they fit perfectly hope this helps.

Q: Can these put on their side and used for LPs?

Yes. We bought one for our daughter. It's quite lightweight but really robust. Hers is on its side and has her toys and books in the cubes and a fishtank on top
