great affordable keyboard
Iโve been using the TECKNET Mechanical Gaming Keyboard for a while now, and itโs been fantastic! The keys feel really responsive and satisfying to press, which makes gaming and typing super smooth. Itโs held up great over time with no issues, and the build quality feels solid and durable. I also love the design โ it looks sleek and fits well on my desk without taking up too much space. The backlighting is a nice touch, adding some style and helping me see the keys clearly in low light. Overall, this keyboard works great for both gaming and everyday use. Definitely worth the 5 stars from me!

A solidly made keyboard with small compromises
I've been using Microsoft's Comfort Curve 2000 and 4000 keyboards for years, although my 2000 periodically stops working, and it's pretty difficult to debug code when your F11 key stops working! As I always enjoyed old IBM keyboards, I thought I'd try my hand at a new generation of mechanical keyboards. My initial impressions of the keyboard were good. It's made of plastic, but it has a significant heft to it, which strongly suggests a metal framework inside. Or a brick or two. The keyboard is very chunky, and even when resting flat without feet it's still quite a height. The cord is braided. I don't know why, but I find braided cables to be more premium in feel and more reliable (no awkward kinks). Then I noticed the absence of the menu key, replaced by a function key. Now while this key doesn't get as much use as standard keys, I still use it quite a bit to open context menus and the like and so I was slightly disappointed by that. On plugging the keyboard in all the keys lit up with a back-light. Fortunately, one of the jobs of the aforementioned function key is to configure the keyboard. The lighting has several different brightness, but even at the lowest setting I thought it was too distracting with the entire keyboard lit up. I took a look at some of the built in configurations and so of them were utterly pointless, such as ripple. Very gimmicky! It also has the ability to have the lights switch on for certain keys, assumably for gamers but this isn't something I've ever needed - when playing a game I'm staring at the screen, not the keyboard. In the end I opted for a simple scheme where each key lights up briefly after being pressed. This seemed like a nice compromise between having them all on, or all off. And besides, it felt "futurey". Actually using the keyboard was nice, a good reminder of the old days when hitting keys felt like hitting keys instead of squishy membranes. I'm a touch typist and did notice that the "error rate" of keys was quite high as I adjusted to the different weight of the keys and slightly offset locations. My existing keyboards have extra keys for muting sound, pausing and resuming media etc, and I use these keys quite a lot. While this keyboard doesn't have dedicated keys, you can use the standard function keys combined with the dedicated function key to do the same thing. I was slowly getting used to this, although I still prefer dedicated keys. One other minor annoyance - the indicator lights (num lock, scroll lock etc) don't seem to be affected by the global brightness settings and are quite bright. And the num lock light bleeds into the other indicators, making them look toggled too. Now onto the painful (literally) part of this review. I originally switched to ergonomic keyboards years ago after developing RSI in my wrists and forearms, a problem I have not suffered since the switch. I've been using this keyboard for just a week and I am rapidly becoming aware of pain in my left forearm, and a tingle in the right suggesting that one isn't too far behind. So while I probably would have gotten used to not having my menu or dedicated media keys, I am going to have to return this keyboard. Possibly the issue could be alleviated with a keyboard wrist rest (the keyboard is high!) but I don't have one to hand and they didn't help "back in the day" for me. Back to the faulty, but flat and pain free CC2000 I go! Of course, if you don't suffer from RSI then you can discount this last part of my review, but in my case it's the critical aspect. Oh, and before I forget - while this keyboard is actually a set and includes a mouse too, I am perfectly content with my existing DeathAdder and so I didn't even open the box it came in. I have no idea what it looks like or how it performs.

A Keyboard worth EVERY cent you spend on it. An absolute BARGAIN at the price.
THIS KEYBOARD DESERVES A FIVE STAR REVIEW If in a hurry, see addendum posted 4 November 2017 in the bottom of this review. A bit of background as to why I decided to give this a 5 star rating might help, so take a minute and read on. I date back to the days of the first IBM PC's. As the older folks amongst you might know, those PC's came with beautifully made mechanical keyboards, or to be more accurate, the keyswitch mechanism was mechanical.. Those keyboards were made in IBM's big plant in Greenock (Scotland), where I spend many many days. Especially the IBM AT PC's had a fabulous keyboard, so much so that people often hooked that keyboard up to different makes of PC's, that keyboard was so dammed good. The IBM PC is no more, long gone and nowadays we live in the days of cheap and cheerful throw away stuff, and that includes keyboards, with their soft "spongy and rubbery" feel.. Not so this TeckNet Arctrix Mechanical gaming keyboard. Hold on for minute... I do NOT play games, at 71 years old, I have many other interests and gaming is certainly not one of them. A few years ago Chillblast UK build a bespoke PC for me and I splashed out and ordered a VERY EXPENSIVE Cm Storm Quickfire mechanical keyboard. Those keyboards, made by Cooler Master, are not cheap, but I venture to say that even that keyboard was still beaten by the IBM AT PC Keyboard qua feel. Enter the TechNet Keyboard which I bought from Amazon recently as the CM Storm had died due to the abuse given to it by my ten cats. . As I am still a wee bit biased after all those years, I would still go for the IBM, qua mechanical feel, but in every other aspect the ARCTRIX is just as good, if not better. Beautifully backlit, with back light intensity that can be adjusted to your liking. Nice fold-out feet, if that is yr wish, a good solid feel ands a nice numeric keypad to boot and as you would expect a nice decent braided cable. Let me state again, I bought this keyboard for typing on, often at night and decent backlighting is an ABSOLUTE must for me. This keyboard offers plenty options for you die hard gamers out there, but I can't comment on those as I do not game, but if they are as good as the keyboard itself, I am sure you will be pleased and find just what you need. (BTW, if fancy moving light patterns take yr fancy, yes this bloody keyboard does 'em too, but they are well and truly wasted on me, I'm too old for a fancy light organ ! Oops... almost forgot. UK layout, with the ยฃ key where you want it. And another nice feature ? The backlight after a while switches off, but reactivates the very second you touch any key. that's a really nice feature... i think. In summary, after two weeks of hammering these beautifully backlighted keys, I have zero hesitation in rating this keyboard with a 5 start rating. While I did not use their technical support line, I am told it is excellent and they show a real and genuine interest in their customers. All in All, go for it. I am sure that this is one purchase you will never regret. This is a genuine purchase and not a freebie review as there seem to be more and more these days on Amazon. Albert ADDENDUM to above review. 23 July 2016 I've now hammered away on this keyboard for a good month. In my opinion, the test and crucial question on a purchase is very simple: Knowing what you know now, WOULD YOU BUY IT AGAIN ? The answer is a resounding YES. So much so, I bought a second one and gave it to a friend who is equllay delighted with this keyboard. You just cannot go wrong with this one. ADDENDUM 4 NOVEMBER 2017 Remain absolutely delighted with this keyboard, after it having been subjected to abuse by my ten (10) resident cats. Previously much more expensive keyboards died well within the year but this baby keeps on going ! Cannot recommend this keyboard highly enough. Albert Albert

look for the green light
really nice keyboard and easy to use, does save battery by switching itself off so need to ensure the green light is on before you start typing, but overall very pleased and great value compared to competitors

Number and control keys are confusingly part of the main keyboard
I liked the quality feel of this keyboard and the noise level but the numbers and other control keys on the right were part of the main keyboard with no gaps between. I was finding that I was pressing them in error as they felt part of my keys. Now tried another ergonomic one which I am keeping despite it being a noisy space bar.Number adn cotrol keysa re

Cheap and most definitely cheerful....
I am writing this review using the keyboard and I'm most impressed with it so far. I paid around ยฃ21 for it, normally seeing it on sale for around ยฃ30. Whilst it was exceptional value at the price I paid I would have been more than happy if I had paid full price. The key movements are very positive in their feel, not sticky nor offering too much resistance when typing, there are no annoying clicks when using it.. The size of the keyboard allows for good key spacing and the clarity of what is written on each key, as well as allowing the blue light to be seen through those markings, just helps when looking for keys. The various controls over the brightness and settings for the blue light, no changing of colour, has made it comfortable to use in bright light or dim surroundings. The keyboard has a very solid feel to it, the build quality is very good and the it certainly seems heavy. As my primary reason for buying this was the keyboard I can say that the mouse was a bonus. I already use a Logitech G502 mouse on my main PC and so the mouse which was bundled has gone to an HTPC, where it will be used rarely. The mouse does not have the same feel of robustness but seems positive enough on movement and control, all the features you would expect from an optical mouse with scroll wheel etc. As I expected I might prefer the Logitech but then again that mouse alone cost three times more than I paid for this keyboard and mouse. I would find it difficult to be critical of this keyboard, all the functionality is there, including media control, and the mechanical keys are a joy to use. Excellent packaging and good contact from customer support asking if I am happy with my purchase. A thumbs up from me :)

Great USB Sound Device
TeckNet USB Audio Adapter External Stereo Sound Adapter Aluminum with 3.5mm Speaker/Headphone and Microphone Jacks For Windows and Mac, Plug and Play, No drivers Needed This USB sound device came packaged in a nice sturdy box, no nasty plastic blister pack in sight which I hate. The device looks to be of good build quality, it has a stereo output for headphones or speakers via a 3.5mm stereo audio jack, it also has an input jack for microphone or line in using another 3.5mm stereo audio jack. I plugged the device into my USB slot & within seconds it was recognised with drivers automatically installed. I plugged my headphones in, the jack plug fits tight so no problems with movement which usually means crackles in the sound! No such problems with this, I played some music, the sound was crisp & clear with no hum, buzz or crackle - very impressive for such a small device. What I did like about this was the sound seemed natural, it wasn't artificially bass heavy, so if you wish to record something you should get a more natural sound to the recording. I have an old laptop which has been upgraded to Windows 10, the problem with it is that I can't find any Windows 10 drivers to enable the on-board sound to work, this device solves that problem so my old laptop is now usable again. I'm now a very happy bunny! A very impressive device, just plug it in & it works with no fiddling or fuss - I thoroughly recommended this!

Perfect!
Big enough to make in-office days easier but small enough to fit in my backpack. I also love how long the charge lasts!

Great battery life.
It works well and has a very long battery life. I do wish I could make the function keys stay on by default, but it's a minor issue.
