Envirovent SIL100 Silent-100 Axial Silent Extractor Fan Axial 100 mm / 4 Inch Timer Model (White)

Happy days I've found this extractor fan when was looking to replace an old one in the bathroom, that was as "effective" new - same as dead. After testing one - got myself a second one.Good stuff:1. It is easy to install, no rocket science, most people will be able to fit it with a bit of attention. Obviously I won't recommend self-install if you are not much into safety (cutting electricity safely and not working with live wires (!) or just don't feel comfortable to do so.2. It's quiet indeed. No, don't expect it to be completely silent as it's simply impossible for something that has meaningful extraction power, which I bet we all need from an extraction fan :). But it is not loud! I am a light sleeper and can definitely fall asleep with it working right against the wall.3. Effective and extracts decent amount of moisture! I definitely felt a big difference here in comparison with the old one. Now, I'm not taking a shower anymore in a cloud of fog and my fire alarm in landing does not go off once I open the door after showering (because of excess moisture rushing to it). Considering it also consumes just 8 watts - yes please. That's another reason why I've got two of them.TO NOTE:- Beware of air depletion (make-up air)! If something is extracting air - there has to be a replacement of air coming from somewhere. So if you have everything tightly closed, doors, windows, etc. - eventually you get reduced extraction flow and correspondingly efficiency. So if possible, consider not closing the door fully, or leaving the window slightly open. This by the way applies to any extractors and is just a showcase that this one actually has decent (96 cubic meter/hour (!) extraction power not just on paper!- If it exits in your loft or attic - make sure it goes through a pipe straight outside, through the roof or whatever setup you have. Don't leave it just like that, trust me, if it sucks air from your bathroom - it will fill effectively with moisture any room to which it connects :) you won't want clear bathroom but an attic full of mould.Beside all above, it looks good, feels sturdy for what it is and despite maybe not being the cheapest - provides great value for your money. Worried at first as the fan packaging gave minimal protection for transportation. I inspected for damage and tested before fitting.This fan was replacing an old noisy fan in our en-suite and fitted into existing ductwork without any major reworking other than the fixing screw holes didn’t line up but that’s not unusual between manufacturers. One word of warning, the draft excluder is a thin plastic film so don’t remove it thinking it’s part of the fan protection.Electrical connection was the same as the old fan (live, switched live and neutral) and setting the timer was simple enough using the provided tool which handily clips into the fan case so it doesn’t get lost.I’m pleased with the fan, it is neat and runs very quietly, so much so with the en-suite door closed we can’t hear it at all in our bedroom, unlike its predecessor!I am so impressed with the noise level that I am in the process of replacing all the extractor fans in our house with this model.

I have an ensuite bathroom with no window. Which is therefore prone to condensation and of course smells tend to linger....! The extractor in situ wasn't really pulling its weight, so I spent some time researching the options. This one appeared to offer a good balance between performance and cost, and to be fair it does. It's definitely shifting more air and moisture - I can feel a stronger flow at the duct exit point outside, and the walls and mirror both clear more quickly than in the past. And I'm pretty sure that smells are shifting more quickly too. I think it's a good buy, but it's no quieter than the old one. To be fair it's not at all noisy - but it's not silent. It was also very simple to fit, removal and replacement took about 15 minutes. I definitely recommend it.

Just fitted 3 of these. Would definately recommend brand/ product. These do not have an integral anti draught flap but I would recommend buying a separate plastic anti draught flap which tightly clips into the outlet of this and works very well to keep you room free of draught. Only a few issues with fitting fans in general. Wire entry hole is near one corner then wire has to travel full width of fan to connector.. roughly 8 inches wire should be plenty. Drilling an extra hole would be possible if needed if wire has no free slack but would void warranty obviously. Another issue you may have is ensuring sufficient clearance above ceiling when fitting to ceiling. I had to cut down too much spare flexible pipe in one case to ensure pipe had a natural bend above the fan. In another case I decided to fit a 3 way shower isolator pull switch and 3 way lighting wire accordingly to disable the fan in a downstairs shower/ toilet which already had a window. I did not see the point in the fan extracting warm air out unless shower was being used. The product is easy to fit.. easy to wire..obviously 3 wires fue to needing a permanent live and switched live. Timer is easy to set up via a circuit board potentiometer (default set to minimum time), but recommend very thin flat jewellers screwdriver and not the supplied plastic screwdriver to adjust. Minimum time I set to timed at approx 75 seconds.. My thinking is if you need the fan on longer then just leave the light on. I have LED lighting so very low power and can see if water vapour has cleared before turning off light. Also if no shower usage, fan is on minimum time so not taking hot air out of bathroom or toilet any longer than a minute or so in winter + longer life for fan as on for less time. Heat lost cost more than running an LED lightbulb! Very quiet fan, No vibration when ceiling fitted, high volume flow rate. red led is visible through casing shows when fan running if on timer and lights off. Easy clip on and off cover. Timer circuit well made circuit and is protected with clear plastic cover and sealed from moisture. Good product.. recommend these.. just check wiring length and above fan clearance on existing fan before buying. Also note No Earth Connection on this fan.. but beware if you turn off MCB breaker before starting work.. still check to ensure wiring is not live and always prevent Neutral from touching Earth wire.. Neutral touching Earth wire can still trip your RCD earth trip even though MCB is off...and you may not realise this until some time after the job.. freezer defrosting etc!!

Far from silent but still a much better fan than the one it replaced. Good value for money too.As another reviewer noted, the entry point for the cable and the connectors are down at the bottom right, which is diagonally opposite where the entry point was on my previous Avenue/Manrose fan. So that did mean cutting out a new entry and then extending the supply cable inside the fan casing. Not very hard to do but extra hassle if you are replacing an otherwise almost identical unit.

Very easy to fit. There was no instructions included with mine but I got the product pdf online. As there was a grey wire I looked that up too for safety and it was as expected. Live permanent/ live switched (to switch) and neutral. No earth required as self insulated product.Has a decent draw, I think I will shorten the flexi ducting in my ceiling to make it even more effective. Low noise. My tenant was concerned about the red light but it’s just to show that there is power to the unit.

Arrived next day as expected. This fan has a timer delay feature so it runs between 1 and 30 mins after it is switched off. For this you will need two lives (L and Ls) and a neutral. There is no earth wire required. (I dont know why, im not a spark). The one i was replacing had this feature so it was just a case of replicating the wiring from that one. The mounting holes were in a slightly different position to the last one, so new holes were required. Other than that, if you can wire a plug you can install this. The wires come in from the bottom left of the unit (as you look at it from the front). They then have to cross the front of the unit to the terminals, which are on the bottom right of the unit. This means you will need about 6 inches of slack in your wire to acomplish this. I suppose if your existing wiring is on the bottom right you could make a hole in the back of the unit, in which case you would only need about 1 1/2 inches of slack. The fan itself is pretty quiet, infinately quieter that the one it replaced, which was a generic fan from a high street diy store. The spare room is next door to the bathroom, with a stud partition wall inbetween. The old fan used to wake guests up. With this one all you can hear is the light switch being turned on. Its not totally silent, but it's quiet enough. It seems to shift enough air too. After a shower it has water dripping off the grill, so it must be sucking it in well enough. Time will tell. It does have a backdraught shutter, which is basically two thin, clear pieces of plastic which close when the air from outside blows in. If you zoom in on the sellers photo of the rear of the unit you can just about make them out. Overall, pretty pleased up to now.

I purchased this to substitute an old Airflow 15. My main considerations were backdraught shutters, noise level, and extraction rate, as we have a large bathroom.1. The description states that it has a Back Draft Shutter. I attach the photo of it. This is a plastic film circle that you may think is part of the packaging and throw away. I did not expect this to be called a “shutter”, especially after having an iCon where the plastic shutters open and close properly. There are also gaps between this circle and the plastic edges of the fan, so I am not sure why cold air would not pass through when the fan is not running. Another point is that dust always gets in, and if it sits on the film, after a year it may not lift as it should, because it needs to be very light to move when the fan is on.2. iCon 15 states 28.8 dB and Environvent SIL100T states 26 dB noise level. SIL100T was much quieter, almost no sound at all.3. iCon 15 states 19 l/s extraction rate and Environvent SIL100T states 26 l/s. Several people tried to see any difference, including using tissues and smoke. There was no identifiable difference at all, even though going from 19 l/s to 26 l/s should increase extraction by 36 per cent.I also added the photo of the timer. I found the timer very confusing for regulating the time as the starting point and the increase/decrease step is not clear
