Has anyone tried using these with balancing scales? Was wondering if, for example, the two 1/2 blocks weigh the same as the ‘one whole’ block

They aren't balancing scales. One whole one is exactly the same size as 2 halves, 3 thirds, 4 quarters etc and the same with the decimal sides, that's the point.
