Only use on the hob
This does NOT work in a washing machine but when I did it on the pot on the cooker it worked immediately. DO NOT USE THIS IN A WASHING MACHINE AS IT DOES NOT WORK.

Don't waste your money!
If I could've selected zero stars, I would've. I bought 4 packs (which I worked out should've been more than enough) to remove the colour from some cotton towels which had taken on a lacklustre 'greyish' look. I just needed to lighten them enough so I could dye them a stronger shade of the same colour without compromising the vibrancy of the new colour. The towels came out completely blotchy. They're ruined. The original colour is still intact across about 30% of the towels with the rest ranging from a patchwork of light (the colour I wanted them to be) to purple. The machine load was less than two thirds of a normal load which, according to the description, is not too much. Even if I tried to dye them the colour I wanted now, it would not dye the towels evenly. I'm quite angry that this product is being sold by making promises it can't keep.

A miracle! All hail Rit!
This stuff is BRILLIANT. Sadly I didn't take a before photo, but this very expensive hoodie was dyed pink with big pink blotches in the wash. I tried soaking, Dylon pre-dye, all sorts - it was still pink. This stuff took all the pink out and didn't affect the embroidery or the original ivory colour - miraculous! I did it on the stove, and it took a bit longer than the 20 mins to get all the blotches out. I used one packet. And I also used a sugar thermometer to ensure the temp was right - just below 200 degrees.

Like it says on the package it doesn't work on blue
I bought this to remove some Dylon bright blue dye from a small cotton quilt I'd made, and later dyed. It does say on the package that it may not work on some blues and greens, but I decided to try it anyway.I used the colour remover according to the directions in my front-loader machine, and was so pleased to see through the glass door the colour come away, and the natural shade of the fabric showing once again! Yay! I was ecstatic.UNTIL... the first cycle finished, and the water drained away. It was still 90*c in there. It hadn't rinsed yet. All should have been well... but as soon as the air hit that fabric, it turned blue again. It was like a horrible magic trick. The only thing I can compare it to is the chemical reaction that dyeing with woad has. Woad is a natural dyestuff that looks greenish-yellow in the dye pot, but the contact with air makes whatever is being dyed turn blue. (What can I say - I'm a re-enactor, LOL.)SO. Believe the package. It works!... but then doesn't work on some blues.

It takes more bags to fade!
I've used this brand's dyes before and found them fabulous. However, this time, I dyed a pair of pants and a linen dress in Taupe, using half the package, but they turned out too dark, leaning toward purple. I tried the Rit Color Remover process, which lightened the color slightly but didn't bring it back to white as promised. I wanted to redye again, but I still achieved the result because now the pants and dress are a lighter beige, just as I wanted. However, I probably should have used two packages. I just didn't realize there was only one package in the package! I washed everything in the washing machine following the instructions, using a 60ยฐ wash cycle.

Great, removed the colour of a previously dyed top very quickly, would recommend.

Didnโt work for me
Had 2 white t shirts that got caught in a dark wash. Needed something to get them back white again as both now grey. Unfortunately it turned them both orange ๐ฌ

WORKS LIKE A CHARM!
IT DOES WORK!! if youโve tried everything, then at least give this a go.I used the boiling water on a hob method, based on the reviews i do not think anything but this will give good results.use at least one pack per item, i used boiling kettle water and poured the powder on top. straight away i could see the dye being removed! i followed the instructions and let it boil for 20 minutes, you may need more.what i think is going wrong for some people is that theyโre using too much water (which a washing machine will do) and itโs diluting the powder, making it ineffective. i used a small pot and filled it with just enough water to allow it to be stirred with a spoon. definitely worth the money!

works perfect
amazing. i ruined a bunch of clothes with a bright blue towel. i did the pot method and all of the items of clothing were fixed instantly. i didnt need to do the 20 minute swirl. just dip and they were brand new again. on some of the items the original dye was lightened but it was a much better outcome than the blue bleed.

Utterly Amazing
Incredibly brilliant product - used the stove top method on a cotton/polyester shirt which had been unsuccessfully dye twice. Within minutes the latest colour had gone and after the full 20 minutes the initial dye had been reduced to near zero.

Good for lightening the colour of my cotton skirt
Really like this product, as it did a great job of lightening the dark purple colour of my long cotton skirt to a medium purple colour. Just dissolved the package's content into hot (not quite boiling) water in my kitchen sink and then submerging the skirt in the very hot water. After about ten minutes the colour remover had lightened the shade to a more summery lighter purple colour. Very happy with the results and would recommend it for lightening the colour of already dyed cotton clothes.

A good last resort for dye stains
This product works great for very specific purposes, as many other reviews have noted. I accidentally washed a yellow post-it note in my shirt pocket, and it bled yellow everywhere into a white shirt. Regular stain removers did nothing.I used the stove-top method, and it worked like a charm. The yellow is completely gone. Unfortunately, it also kind of changed the colors of the blue striping on my shirt, turning some of the blue into a dark purple. I strongly recommend that this product only be used on clothing which has as little other color as possible other than the dye stain, as it clearly has very unpredictable effects on other existing dyes. That said, since my shirt was almost a lost cause, I figured I had nothing to lose by giving it a shot.I give this product five stars for saving my shirt, but with the caveat that it can change or remove other colors as well. I would never use this on a short which was not predominantly white to begin with. It does exactly what it says, which is remove colors. I suspect that the color change is because of the removal of a portion of the dye, revealing the portion which was left behind.Overall, I recommend this as a last resort for dye stains you cannot remove any other way. I also recommend that the stove-top method be used, as you really do want the hottest water the shirt can stand, and you don't want to have any unexpected effects on other articles of clothing.
