Great module when you understand how to use the connections
I bought one of these alongside the actual iCON fan to replace an existing, failed Aitflow unit. As a drop-in replacement it works great. I also took this opportunity to switch to a humidity module. I can’t think of any cons other than that quieter units from other brands are available. The instructions weren’t exactly clear how you configure the module to run so I’ll add some notes here from my own googling. A key aspect not made explicitly clear in the instructions is that you do not have to connect the T (Live Trigger) terminal which comes from the light switch. It is very likely that existing and new installations will use 3 core cable which have colours: brown, grey and black. A good practice is to use those wires as follows putting a bit of electrician tape on it for future reference to state purpose: Module connections: L - Permanent Live - core brown N - Neutral - core grey (tape it blue) T - Live trigger - core black (tape it brown) If you don’t want to use a timer or humidity function, and just use the light switch, you can have core black going to L. If you don’t want to use the timer (which needs T) - don’t connect T. If you don’t want to use the pull cord I found it can be rolled-up and taped inside the unit. Note that the pull cord is electronic, not a mechanical switch, and is only used to turn the fan ON. Repeated pulling of it resets the timer to start again. If you turn the timer to its minimum setting, that was about 2 minutes in my test. I had no need for the pull cord as I have an isolation switch outside my bathroom which is easier to access. In the rare situation when you want to disable the fan - perhaps you are having a bath listening to music - that isolation switch can be used. I am using the module as humidity detection only and I have not changed the factory set dial. It comes-on three minutes into a shower. If you connect T you get the fan on with the lights every time but the humidity detector will keep it on until steam level drops. I don’t see the point of that mode myself. If you are pondering which module function to use - I would say that when using the toilet at night without turning on the fan, and potentially disturbing others, this is a really good feature of the humidity detector.

Reliable?
Just bought a replacement module for my timer/humidistat Airflow bathroom fan. Original module had lasted 7 years until it needed replacing. Subjective whether you consider this reliable. I have a timer only version which lasted less than that. But as the module is so easy to replace (compared to fitting a new fan) I guess it's worth it. If you were to choose a standard bathroom fan (£20.00 - £30.00), in my experience these can last anywhere between 18 months and 10 years. Thing I really like about these fans is the shutter. No cold drafts in the bathroom. They look good too. On balance worth the money but not brilliant. Just very good.

A good product
The modular design means you can change this for another one should it develop a fault or want to change it to one of the 3 options available. I have had 5 of these in the past and the quality is generally excellent. However, the one I have just returned did not work at all from new, it had no factory check sticker on it that all the others had, so may have just been one that slipped the manufacturers quality control, or even possibly a counterfeit unit, as knock-off products universally are becoming more difficult to identify. I have had no issues with fitting all the previous extractors we have had, but this time I had to call in a professional electrician to eliminate if there were wiring issues with the property. There weren't, it was a faulty module. It has therefore became quite an expensive extractor this time.

Thinking of buying the Timer module - Buyer Beware
Buyers need to know that this will NOT work if you only have a LIVE and NEUTRAL at the extractor. The Timer module needs to have the third connection, a SWITCHED LIVE, for this module to offer the timer delay functionality … without it, nothing happens (the fan will not even turn). I wonder how many Timer modules have been mis-sold? In my case, it was two months before I got round to fitting the Airflow extractor, to include the Timer module, only to discover that this was the case. Having done the journey, so to speak, I can see now that there is no way that it could have worked with only a L and N connection. My gripe is that the sales details are vague in this regard; the need for a switched live could have been stated explicitly. I subsequently purchased the combined humidity and timer module with a PIR sensor to do the switching (in the absence of a live feed from a light) and this works brilliantly. So, a warning and nothing more, the Timer module will NOT work if you only have a Live and Neutral at the extractor.

Difficult to find a useful humidity setting
I bought this to replace a motion PIR activated module that would come on anytime someone walked into the bathroom (and run for its given time, whether needed or not), but not register someone taking a shower behind a shower screen. I wanted the fan to come on by itself when it got too humid in the bathroom. Unfortunately, i have been unable to find a setting where this works as intended. It either stays on all the time as the general air is too humid (as a factor of the weather both inside and outside), or it doesnt come on at all when the bathroom starts getting quite misty from the shower running. At the moment we just use the pull cord to get it running for about 25 mins - not the reason I bought this unit. Side note - I'm not sure how sensitive it is to the air immediately around it - the humidity sensor doesn't seem to have much of an opening to be able to sense the air around it, and since the fan cowl is shut until it turns on, i don't really see how it can be very sensitive to the humidity of the air in the bathroom. Easy to install though.
