Mr. Men Little Miss: All Different: A Book celebrating Diversity from the New Illustrated Children’s Series for 2022 about Feelings (Mr. Men and Little Miss Discover You)

Me encantan todos los libros de Mr. Men and Little Miss, pero llevé una desilusión con el formato. Es un libro muy pequeño (tamaño de una mano) y muy fino. El tema es la aceptación e inclusión, por lo que siguen sin defraudarme!!!

My partner and I head a family that has four children. Our children range in age from 22 down to 5 and throughout the years we have come to love and cherish our significant Mr Men book library, which has been handed down from our very first child right through to our youngest, who is still very much enjoying the stories to present day. Some books have always been better than others and each family member has their own favourite character/s. This latest iteration of short reads in the series from the publisher Farshore, tries to bring the Mr Men and Little Miss more into the modern age, by tackling intrinsically more difficult subject matter such as diversity, emotions and feelings amongst other similar topics. The books themselves are laid out in the traditional Mr Men format with the same colourful and familiar characters you will be used to seeing across the series. This particular book focuses on diversity and has been well thought out and written. It faces into its subject matter very well and poses lots of questions throughout that prompt thought and response from your child. The pages and characters are engaging and the book certainly succeeds in its task of helping your child to understand that everyone is different and unique and that’s a good thing to be. It’s a different style and feel to your usual Mr Men book and, as much I as will praise the series for tackling and facing into what are genuinely important subjects, it’s worth understanding what you are buying into before actually purchasing the book. It doesn’t quite have the same light hearted and often humorous feel to it that a more traditional and familiar Mr Men book does, and it’s probably not one for bedtime reading as it provokes to much response from your child. However, as a teaching tool in helping your child to understand more about themselves and the world around them, it achieves this will great success. I would be more than happy to recommend this series to anyone and I cannot find faut with these books at all. My hats off to the publisher’s for taking a leap into new territory using the existing, time honoured and classic characters. What a great way to facilitate engagement. I see these books being hugely successful, particularly in an educational setting. Brilliant!

This is a little book to celebrate diversity and it uses the different nature of the Mr Men/Little Miss characters to tell that story highlighting things such as how Mr Tickle is different as he has long arms and Miss Tiny is small. It is not just about physical differences though it also looks at personalities such as Mr Chatterbox and Miss Quiet. It is done in a charming way, it's bright, colourful and printed on matt paper, which gives it that retro feel. The artwork and character design, is great and the characters have not strayed too far from when I was a child. I do have to mention there is not really an indepth story here as such as the book focuses more on the characters and mentions a lot of them in a short number of pages. However I think it's a great book to teach children about being different and how noone is the same whether it's their looks or personality, an important lesson told through engaging characters and a light hearted touch.
