Melissa & Doug 19540 Lock and Latch Board Developmental Toy Motor Skills 3+ Gift for Boy or Girl, Black

My son has a fascination with shutting doors/gates so thought he would enjoy this. It is a beautiful wooden house, with a different front door on each of the four sides. Each ' home' has a beautifully painted exterior and wooden doll whose outfit matches the colour of the door. Each home also has a different sounding doorbell and a keyhole to be unlocked with one of the included keys. The keys hang from a sturdy black strap which is attached to a handle on the roof of the house. This is a stunning toy, quite unusual but remarkable in every sense of the word. Absolutely amazed by this toy. My son is aged just 2 so the keys are a little fiddly for him at the moment and I have to unlock and lock up the houses but this is one of his favourite toys, bought for his birthday. I did wonder if it was a bit of a girl's toy but when you think about it, why shouldn't a boy have one? After all, boys live in houses too :)

This product has provided hours of fun for my son and has really helped his fine motor skills and number recognition. We like to hide other objects behind the doors to vary the game . It is very portable and has many trips to restaurants and grandparent houses. Highly recommend for children who love intricate toys that are not too tricky to master but can engage your child's concentration long enough for uninterrupted cups of tea ! When I received the house it had two sets of no 4 key . I rang amazon customer services and spoke to a very friendly and helpful employee . As an amazon prime member a replacement house was sent out that same day. I received an email with a return label and sent the item back through the post office was so simple and efficient ! Highly recommend the amazon customer service just the protection and efficiency you need.

Omg my son absolutely luvz this I bought him it actually for Xmas but coz hez going throo different schemas and always want to play with keys or lock the windows etc I thought I'd give him it not thinking he'd get it straight away but he did that I was amazed he did the 3 so quickly but the vault type lock was the one he has more difficulty with simply because its numbers to unlock it and hez not at tht stage hez only 1 but since the board says for 3+years I'm very happy he managed the others so quickly but he absolutely luvz this board I've bought him more aswell their such a great idea and keep them occupied for ages especially great when he wants to get up and lock the window or wants to go down n get the keys from the door so what I do is get this out coz I know this will do the trick hez jst going through different schemas hez just needing me to give him the suitable activities to feed that curiosity, I'd highly recommend these buzy boards great quality and great idea I've been telling other ppl about them so I'd defo recommend to anybody reading this to buy it

Very impressed with the size, its quite big. It has a handle on the top so small children can carry the house around as its not heavy at all. The wooden people are good quality and fit in the house easily. The wooden doors are easy to open. The sound on the door bells on each door is of medium sound, it can be heard well when pressed. The keys are of a good size too perfect for little fingers and they fit in the key hole easily and the turning mechanism has an easy turn motion for small hands as not to leave the child frustrated. Has plenty of educational value i.e technology skills, role play. The paint work on the house is beautiful. We have a few of Melissa and Doug products as we like the quality. Overall an excellent product.

Good points: it's well made and sturdy (has been dropped a few times on a hardwood and tilee floors and no splinters or cracks). The poseable wooden dolls are very sweet and in different coloured clothing to match the colours of the doors. The doors are numbered and 4 different colours to encourage development in these areas and the doors each have their own little doorbell which play individual noises. Great for role playing, encouraging colour and number recognition and dexterity. Negatives: the keys for the doors are all different shapes and not the easiest to open. My daughter is probably a little young for this to use it properly (she's 2) and she doesn't have the ability to recognise which key belongs to which lock. That said, even older children would find manoeuvring the keys a little tricky. I tend to leave the doors unlocked so my daughter can play freely with it without it causing her frustration. The other very minor niggle is that the door bell chimes are extremely quiet and if there is other background noise in the house you can barely hear it. Some people may consider this a plus point though...

This is a very well thought out product. The little house has a carry handle for small hands. Each door which is a different colour has a corresponding doll in colour matched clothing. Each door has a different key and a different shape and sound for the door bell. The ribbon holding the keys is firmly attached but reaches each of the doors so no danger of the keys getting lost or put into tiny mouths and swallowed. There is a small challenge in sorting which key goes into which lock but that is appropriate for developing small minds let alone adult ones. The door bell sound is not too loud - thank goodness. Overall it is well made, good quality and utterly delightful. I bought it for my two year old Grandson and it has proved popular amongst his other toys.

Bellissima casetta con campanelli interamente realizzata in legno ricoperto di carta (i disegni sono su un foglio di carta applicato al legno). Il comignolo e le serrature sono di plastica, le chiavi di metallo. Comprese ci sono 4 bellissime bamboline di legno snodabili, compatibili con tutte le case delle bambole esistenti (anche di altra marca) e abbastanza in scala con gli animali Schleich. Ogni porta ha un numero e un campanello, si apre con una chiave specifica e conduce ad una stanzetta triangolare (ogni porta una stanza diversa). Le bamboline hanno i vestiti coordinati alle porte e sono 2 maschi e 2 femmine (o 4 femmine a seconda di come si interpretano quelle col caschetto). Le bamboline sono molto inclusive visto che hanno i capelli di 4 colori diversi e permettono ad ogni bambino di identificarsi con una di loro. È un bellissimo gioco che può essere usato in mille modi diversi e insegna moltissime cose diverse: i numeri, i colori, la logica, la motricità fine (aprire le serrature non è facilissimo ma nemmeno difficile) ecc. Si può usare bene dai 2 anni fino a quando i bambini crescono, è utile durante tutta l'infanzia, sia per maschi sia per femmine. I bambini più grandi la possono usare per la creazione di mini mondi, ed è una splendida depandance per le case delle bambole. Insomma, accompagna il bimbo per tutta l'infanzia! Abbiamo avuto parecchi giocattoli Melissa&Doug di pessima (ma proprio pessima!) qualità, belli come idea ma purtroppo realizzati malissimo, questa casetta invece è perfetta e al momento funziona tutto benissimo. Speriamo che duri! Davvero un bellissimo giocattolo che piace da matti a tutti i bimbi che lo vedono, stanno a giocarci tutti concentrati ed entusiasti per ore. Lo consiglio!

The thoughtfully designed and well-made toys and games are not cheap, but they worth the invested money and the benefits are immense. That's the case when we can say: "less is more", for few quality toys will flourish child's development and will have a huge impact on kid's intellectual growth, while the poorly made trinkets will end up in the garbage bin before your kid had outgrown them. During the last years, I bought quite a lot of "Melissa & Doug" - toys, games, playsets, puzzles and costumes and despite having kids that have that common to boys "anything can destroy" gift, "Melissa & Doug" toys still make it through. Pretend play is a very important part of the child's development that brings out creativity, imagination, dexterity, helps to develop motor and social skills. "Melissa & Doug" toys are great educational tools that help kids to develop different skills and raise their intelligence.

Great, affordable toy for my 18 month old. She can’t do the locks on her own yet, but she tries, plus that’s what big sister is for! She loves carrying the house around and putting the people in and out of it. She tries putting other toys in the house too. The doorbell sounds are weird, but not a big deal. Very happy with this product.
