If you get one of these then over the lifetime of using it you too could save a Bonsai tree from being ruthlessly cut down in its prime to make the cocktail sticks you would have to use instead!! (Full Review) This is a simple device that works really efficiently and takes the worry out of whether your cakes and other baked wonders are done to perfection. You simply need to insert it directly downwards into a the centre of a cake for instance and check that when lifted back out again it comes out clean. Then it can simply be wiped or rinsed and is ready to use again (always clean properly between bakes). As advised by the manufacturer, it will stay in its best condition if you clean it under the tap instead of the dishwasher. It's ever so easy to clean so there's really no reason not to use the tap. It's worth saying that you don't always want to test the centre of all things baked as some may require you test a different section. For example when making chocolate brownies in a square 8×8inch tin you would need to insert it no more than 2inches away from the edge of the tin and you know when it's done when the skewer comes out almost but not totally clean. This ensures a fudge type texture. So some things are abit of trial and error. For your standard sponge cakes, fairy cakes and muffins the skewer needs to be in the centre and come out totally clean. What I like about this particular one is it's ultra thin so the holes created are hardly noticeable for bakes you won't be topping. No one wants to see loads of holes poked into their slice. The full length is 19cms but the length of the tester pin itself is 14.7cms which is still more than deep enough for most cake tins. You can't really go wrong with it and for the cheap price it's really worth getting to help any one young or old. Particularly the new budding chefs out there. It would be good if the spike had a little twist on it so that you could be absolutely sure that the cake is cooked, with no gooey centre.

I got this cake tester for my daughter who loves to bake. We usually use toothpick, pasta, skewers and anything we find in the kitchen. Each one of The object is fat compared to this thin metal tester. This is easy and simple and not noticeable when you poke the cake. The quality is great and amazing value for money. Definitely ordering few more for my sister and niece. This is a must have little tool for when baking.

Good product

I was entirely fed up with the somewhat ridiculous methods of testing my cakes with items including knives, forks and chopsticks. This tester is simple, incredibly cheap (talk about value for money!) and effective. It arrived swiftly, securely packaged and in excellent condition. Overall, this is simple, effective and easy to use. It does exactly what it says on the tin. Do your baking a favour and go buy one today. At the price it’s at, there’s not really an excuse. Hatte bisher immer eine Stricknadel zum Testen des fertigen Kuchens etc. genutzt - die Löcher waren entsprechend groß. Durch Zufall bin ich dann auf "Kuchentester" bei Amazon aufmerksam geworden. Habe einige verglichen und der hier angebotene hat mir am ehesten zugesagt. Bin froh diesen ausgewählt zu haben - er ist perfekt. "Cake Tester" steht für alle noch drauf, damit man das Einsatzgebiet auch kennt :-) Finde ihn super und würde diesen immer wieder kaufen - schnell gesäubert, dünne Spitze, praktisch.
