Evoke C-F6

Having only just received my unit yesterday, I am perhaps a bit premature in writing a review, but I can certainly give first impressions which, I must say, are good. Having opened the box and removed the radio I had it connected and playing DAB radio stations within a matter of less than five minutes. The sound is certainly pretty impressive and, as agreed with my wife, better than the DAB radio (not fair to name it here) which it replaced. It also looks a very impressive "little piece of furniture" with its wood like finish. I only had one little bit of trouble with the initial set-up whilst storing preset radio stations - there are four stored station buttons, named 1, 2, 3 and 4+ with the first three being very simple to program by just selecting a station and then holding in the appropriate button for a second or two. However, the last one was a bit more troublesome, for me anyway. For any future new owners, it's worth noting that, having selected a station for storing here, you hold in the 4+ button and, at the same time, rotate the "Select" knob until e.g. Preset 4 shows on the display and, whilst still holding the 4+ button, push the Select knob in, which will store the selected station. Repeat this for the remainder of the presets, up to number 10. What I was doing wrong originally was not holding in the 4+ button until I had completed a preset, so hopefully anyone reading this will not have my "problem". In summary, first impressions are that I have made a good choice of DAB radio which also makes a good job of playing CDs. I have not yet tried the Bluetooth side of things. Edit 2nd April 2016 - Having now had the unit for a couple of weeks I have come across no reason to change my above review as it has performed very well in that time. Considering the size of the stereo speakers, the tone is all I could have hoped for and perhaps even better. Pairing my Galaxy S6 Android with the C-D6 was extremely easy so I have now tried all the features of the unit and am happy to recommend it to anyone considering such a purchase. 1/4/18 An update to my previous. The unit still works well but I have now had it more than long enough to determine its worst point, which most definitely is the remote control. This is most definitely the worst remote I have ever owned, bar none. You press the power button and the unit powers on and off, and can try four of five times before it stays on, likewise when trying to power off. I have read other similar reports about this remote so mine is, unfortunately, not a one off. 16/08/18 Another update. I am still very happy with the unit but the remote control was getting worse than before so I contacted Pure to ask if this was a common fault and whether or not it had been addressed? A chap called Sam answered immediately to say that he was not aware of any known fault with the remote but asked for my address so he could send me a new one. It arrived a few days later and, whilst it looked identical to the original, it felt more substantial, weighs a good bit more (relatively speaking) and works a treat, just as one would expect a remote control to work. Whereas before I had to use multiple button presses to achieve anything, this one works first time, every time, so result! Thank you Pure for good customer service.

Easy DAB radio set up Lovely sound quality , as we have a varied musical taste from Clasical to Soul and Rock no sound distortion , on radio , and cd player Design quality of a high standard such great value . Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Sellers price is amazing, we might buy another as such great value

Excellent quality all in one music system. Well made, very nice sound for our medium size living room. DAB and CD both sound rich and clear. Very much enjoying rediscovering my CD collection. Dropped one star as the remote can be a little temperamental but for price paid (£125) it's an absolute bargain.

I received my radio today and found it very easy to set up. The menus were intuitive and I was able to set everything up without consulting the manual. (I do read manuals and have read it all subsequently to make sure I didn't miss anything). The FM is very clear as is the Internet Radio. I successfully linked my MacBook Pro to the Bluetooth function and played iTunes. In all modes the sound was great. (We don't have DAB in Canada.) I will probably never use the CD player as CDs are essentially obsolete - and fully obsolete in my life. The unit is beautiful to look at and enhances any room - in my case on a sideboard in my kitchen. The remote is intuitive as are the controls on the radio. My only complaint is that there was a "marketing" sticker on the top of the radio - really only useful for display models in stores. I did not want it on my radio in my kitchen. It was very difficult to get off. Most electronics have this kind of marketing material on plastic affixed only by static or at the most by a very easy to peel off glue adhesive. This glue was very firm and the sticker peeled off in a top layer. It took we about 15 minutes to get this sticker off and it left a sticky residue that turned dark when I tried to rub it off. Fortunately I happened to have a bottle of Weiman's Adhesive Remover which restored the wood to a nice appearance. This could be a major irritant and the manufacturer should change this sticker. I am super pleased with this product. It is really a gem. A note about power: The power is supplied by an adapter that works from 100 to 240 volts input. (It says so on the unit, though this is standard for low voltage adapters for electronics.) I was told by the manufacturer that I would need a travel adapter as the unit is not packaged to be distributed in North America. However, the adapter actually has a built in North American plug with clip on adapters for the UK and Europe. There is no battery compartment and the size of this unit would make it an awkward portable. Delivery from the UK to Canada only took 4 days. Amazon took a deposit to cover customs charges. I did not have to pay anything at delivery. Shipping was reasonable and VAT was deducted form the price for sale in Canada. (export)

Einfach zu bedienen, guter Empfang und Klang.

Cette radio est un cadeau pour des personnes âgées qui reçoivent difficilement voire pas du tout la radio en FM là où ils habitent. J'ai décidé de les équiper en radio internet mais que de choix. Celui-ci sortait du lot puisqu'il y a un lecteur CD que je cherchais aussi. Avant de leur donner le cadeau, j'ai testé pour ne pas avoir de surpris. Verdict : ++ Très bel objet... Très bon son Intuitif les radios internet permettent de s'ouvrir au monde et c'est tellement simple qu'on se surprend à écouter beaucoup plus la radio Je n'ai pas essayé encore toutes les fonctionnalités (bluetooth, piloter via smartphone,...) mais rien que les radios internet via wifi est une réelle bonne surprise. - Je n'en ai pas vu pour l'instant Finalement, je réfléchi si je ne vais pas craquer pour m'équiper moi-même... mais la bête reste chère.

Great system, happy to recommend. I am however based in Australia and the plug connection sent with the system had an English plug point. I had to borrow a plug converter from a friend. Please can I ask that a cable with Australian plug point be sent to me. That would be most appreciated. Regards Bruce

Für meine Mutter (87 Jahre alt) suchte ich ein Gerät, das auch für Menschen geeignet ist, die das Paradigma "ein Gerät - eine Funktion" gewohnt sind und verschachtelte Menus nicht lieben. Das Gerät bietet zumindest einige Stationstasten fürs Radio und den klaren Zusammenhang "CD einlegen - Musik hören". Insofern kam das Gerät gut an und macht viel Freude. Auch die DAB-Sektion tut was sie soll. Mit dem Klang kann man m.E. gut leben, auch wenn er nicht weltbewegend ist. Daher die etwas mittelmäßige Bewertung dafür. Für die Bedienung aber 5 Punkte, gerade weil dem Gerät aus heutiger Sicht ein paar features fehlen.
