Just received this.. how do I thread tape, adjust tension and actually use? The lack of information with the product is astonishing.

Hi, I have received this information from Rapesco, place TapeHolder face metal part down, push tape onto it sticky side up, feed tape toward left and lift metal bar and pull tap through and up towards blade. Remove blade protector before use. Good Luck

Would this work with brown paper tape?

Yes, it should work as long as tape is 48 - 50 mm

There is normally a blade protector on it, are you sure you are not looking at the protector & expecting the blade to be there?
