Brabantia 2mm Built-in-Foam Ironing Board Cover (E Board/Neutral Mixed Random Selection) Heat-Resistant, Non-Slip, Cord Fastener

The important thing to note about this ironing board cover is that it is the top layer only. I did not realise this when I bought it. I could see it was cheaper than other covers on Amazon, but I didn't realise why! (I probably should have read the description in more detail.) However, this was not a problem. In fact, as I was replacing an existing cover, it was just what I needed. So, I have now learned that the Brabantia Ironing Board cover comprises two elements: An underlay (like a thin mattress layer) and a cover. I was probably going to buy a cover which included both of these, when in reality, I didn't need to. I just needed to replace the top cover, which had got a bit stained and messy, and had a hole in it. Hardly surprising, as I'd had it about 8 years! I chose this cover because I thought the design was attractive. It was very easy to fit, despite the lack of instructions. You lay it over the top of the board and then pull two strings at the narrow end, to gather up the cover around the edges. These then wind around a little black disc, and can be folded up back underneath the cover to keep them out of the way. It was a bit fiddly to pull everything up straight, but the process was straightforward, and the strings are quite robust, so I didn't feel like I was going to break them! The cover also comes with an elasticated 'band' with hooks on either end. You hook each of these around one of the loops on each side of the cover underneath the ironing board, to keep it in place. If you are replacing a cover, my top tip would be to keep the existing band - don't throw it away - and you can attach this as well, maybe further along the board, to make everything extra secure. I'll attach a couple of pictures to this review - one showing the (rather minimal) instructions, and the other showing the grey band attaching the cover underneath my ironing board.

A fine quality product

I've rated this 4 stars as it's a bit on the thin side. According to the packaging you ideally need the brabantia foam /padding layer which you can buy separately. I was busy looking at sizes when I ordered & probably wouldn't have picked this seeing as I hadn't already got Brabantia board. I've put this over an existing layer & that will be fine. If you don't have a foam layer this won't do. You adjust this cover with the strings, tighten them up & tie it off on their plastic fastener. It also comes with an elastic attachment you can add from the sides of the board. That easily clipped on. Keeps the cover tight. My board is Minky, my previous thicker cover was Vileda. The water droplets design is nice, it's just pretty thin.

After buying another brand of cover with an "elasticated fit" that was a terrible fit on my brabantia board, bulges and wrinkles everywhere, I went back to a brabantia cover and I've not been disappointed. I matched the size from the label in my old cover. The new cover has drawstrings to tighten it up, which isn't the easiest thing to do on your own while holding the old felt layer in place, but once on the surface is fitted and smooth and doesn't move about. One thing to note about the cotton flower pattern: the base colour looks white online, but in fact it's a very pale blue.

Lovely colour and excellent fit. I left my old cover underneath to make a thicker base, which I prefer. Great quality, easy to fit and good value.

We got a new felt cover and foam backed cotton top cover to replace our old one. It was slightly fiddly to fit but it fits perfectly and does a good job. It also looks really fresh and is effective. It was relatively expensive but it is well made. We have only had it for a few weeks so durability and longevity are hard to report

Cheap quality and does not fit . Well over priced

Compared to other covers I've used this is much better quality. The drawstring edge and additional strap (which goes under the board from one side to the other and reallly helps to keep it taut) ensures a good fit. I still used an extra layer of padding (from Wilkinsons, about £2.50 - bargain), but the two together make a very good ironing surface. Clothes stay put on this fabric and the neutral colour means I can keep the ironing board up in the living room without it clashing with the wallpaper! However I am amazed at how expensive ironing board covers are !£8.50!(Amazon was a lot cheaper for this than elsewhere) for what is basically a piece of cloth!

La tela de la funda es de calidad aceptable, tiene los hilos laterales para poderla ajustar al burro de planchar y se ajusta el hilo sobrante con la liga que trae para sostenerla de lado del ancho. No incluye funda externa. y se ajusta totalmente bien a medida. Excelente !
