Better than the more expensive version
This is a sturdy and simple bench. The height is ideal and the price is much better than the 2 x height more complicated version also by B&D. Now I've had both I would go for this uncomplicated model every time. It folds up very slim so will not protrude into your working space when stored. This comes as a kit of parts that need constructing before use. You will need a cross head screwdriver and either a hammer or water pump pliers to either hit or squeeze the pins in to hold the winding handles on.

Great Stuff 👌
Black & Decker is a good quality brand that I can rely on! I do recommend to all & i think Amazon gave me a Super good Deal....for what I got! Thanks 🍀 😊 I like how easy it is to store away it fits in to a nice small space! It's an amazing 👏 design! Oh and really easy to assemble to...just open box & pull open to stand & wall! Ready for DIY...

It ok and good value, but not that well made.
I already have three of the more typical Black & Decker Workmates, one of the original design and one with the wide opening grips, but now find them rather heavy, clumsy and too low, without unfolding the legs, for many jobs, so wanted something easier and simple to use, that was also higher and lighter. This will do nicely, but even as an engineer and experienced in DIY, I still found the assembly instructions none too clear, particularly for fitting the clamping boards. Compared to my older workmates, this is nowhere near as sturdy or as well made, but for what it cost it will do. The plastic "wing nuts" for locking the frame were pretty useless and the thread soon stripped, even with moderate force, and didn't grip at all, so I had to replace them with normal M8 metal wing nuts, with a washer. There was no thrust washer on the clamping screws, so I got two M10 washer and drilled them out to 11.5mm. M12 washers might have been ok. Inserting the pins in handle was ok, but you need to take care to line up the holes, or they can be difficult to get in. Basically you get what you pay for. I mostly wanted a portable, easily assembled, lightweight bench to stand a cross cut saw on, which I could use without having to bend down so much, so this workmate will be fine for that. However if the Silverline version had better reviews I would have got that instead and saved some money.

Instructions Cause Unnecessary Confusion
Good product and excellent value for money. However the assembly instructions are very poor and the diagrams make them even worse due to the print size. Word of warning … make sure you engage the long threads in the main frame before securing the handles with the supplied fixing pins.

Very handy for small jobs, and better than using chairs and tables.
I'm really pleased with this little bench. For years, I've been "making do" with chairs, tables, volunteers, even a precariously placed foot to hold things steady, so I finally decided to get something better. ASSEMBLY - after looking at other reviews (thanks, everyone), I didn't even bother to read the instructions - I went straight to YouTube and found this excellent 6 minute video: http://youtu.be/CUPPYknO5Lk, posted by "green stripey paint". I can highly recommend it, it's so easy to follow. I kept my tablet beside me and played the video in stages until I had completed the bench. It took me about twenty-five minutes. (Thank you, Mr GSP) One minor gripe - the plastic feet tend to fall off in normal use. I kept having to look for the odd one, until I glued them all with Araldite, and they've been fine since. USE - All right, it's very basic and quite light, however, as I've said, it's a lot better and safer than my previous improvisations, and it's fine for my limited skills/use, such as holding curtain poles for sawing, clamping stuff for drilling, sanding, polishing, etc. I suspect that Norm wouldn't have it in his New Yankee Workshop, but then again, I don't have Norm's space, so for me, this is ideal - it folds up and stores easily in the shed between uses. [UPDATE (Oct 2015): In fact, it's so easy to store, that I've bought another one - they are a bargain, and it's handy to have two - eg one with the mitre saw set up, and one for clamping/gluing/sanding. Both together for tackling those extra long planks - you get the idea.] So, if you're a serious joiner/handyman, this is probably not for you, however if you want to upgrade from the table/chair/anyone handy improvisation, this is a great little bench. I like it.

Shocking instructions!!
The workbench is great, nice design quite sturdy good value for money, reason for 3 stars is the instructions were shocking. Worst instructions ive come across it would have saved me a lot of time and effort if they made clearer instructions, quite annoying really.

Very useful work bench!
Simple to put together but does need a little of a mechanical mind as the instructions are vague.

Excellent product, exactly as described. My favorite co-worker since day one! I can't believe I have been using tables, chairs, wood blocks, stones, etc. during all my projects in and outside of the house all those years. This workmate replaces all of them, is strong and sturdy, and can easily be stored aside. Top!

Nice, does the job, folds well but: - instructions on assembling it are confusing at best - the split pins provided are a mess, are larger than the needed size hence hard to install and a wire based split pin would have worked better. For example, my McGyver take on temporarily replacing them with ones improvised from paper clips worked better than the ones provided. And even the final thing (using a proper wire based split pin) was way better, plus you can replace the pins with more ease.

Awesome product and good value for money. I was not sure if this would be useful for DIY projects. But now that I’m using it I wish it was purchased long back. There are just so many ways this workbench makes life easier- the vise, the stoppers, the ideal height. I would definitely recommend it.
